I've been watching a Let's Play of I Wanna Be The Guy. Hilarious, and I can see why the player is so angry.

Just watched Adventureland, and I think I might be stuck in my teens even though now they're just a memory.

    And that's okay.

    Gran Torino.

Very much enjoyed it. Hilarious in parts (he does the grumbler so well) and horrifically sad in others.

    Quality.
    8/10

Just watched first episode of Flash Forward.
Seems ok, if a bit broad brushed.
Didn't rate the media hype, with every TV journo coming in their pants over it.
But I'll stick with for at least another 2 episodes.

Maybe I have terrible taste in movies, but I didn't care for Gran Torino. Yes, I saw the quality of the acting and soforth, but it was so bitter and over-the-top, with some exaggerated actions taken by some characters, and then I read this.

The Hand That Rocks The Cradle, terrible 90s psychothrillers hold massive trashy allure to me.

I saw Watchmen after everyone else (HD Download from XBox Live), and now no-one wants to talk about it. This being the case, I felt the need to move off at a tangent. I present to you then, the IMDB Parental guide to Watchmen - which is actually a checklist for teenage boys.

"A woman kisses another woman passionately." Check.

"A prostitute pulls down her top to reveal her bare breasts to a man passing on the street." Check.

"Two naked women are kissing, seen briefly on one of the many TVs in one scene, one of their breasts is revealed." Check.

"20 uses of the word fuck." Check.

"When a man is set on fire, his pants begin to fall." Uh, wait

A MAN is on FIRE. Note that if you're a parent in North America, this is a minor detail which is secondary to the imminent lack of pants. Awesome.

"Dr. Manhattan transports an entire group of people out of a room. Before this event, Dr. Manhattan becomes very angry and yells."
Fucking hell, this movie should be banned for showing stuff like this.

It's so much more damaging when flesh is shown in a complicated relationship.

Don't forget about the 2 uses of the word "damn", either.

But what about 'A man and a woman kiss in great detail'?

Are we talking great detail as in 'interior tonsillectomy shot' detail, because I totally missed that on account of all the giant blue dong.

Also the violently gory scene of a man with cancer dying in a hospital bed was beyond thrilling. I'm plonking down for the Director's Cut, I am.

"A sexy rendition of Hallelujah to scar all childhood fans of Shrek?" Check.

I've been watching a number of history channel documentaries lately, along with The Twilight Zone. I'd never watched TTZ before, and I'm glad I'm finally getting the chance.

Well yes and all but why in Gods name do you have to quote an ENTIRE post that is directly above yours?

Difference of opinion then. I didn't think it was bitter or over the top.

And any film can be lambasted in that way. So what?

I thought that the over-the-top Clint was the best thing about the movie. The storyline and characters and all that were pretty bad, but Clint alone made the whole movie awesome.

Fist of the North Star. It's both awesome and unintentionally hilarious. It has every cliche and every camp stupidity shoehorned into one show, played absolutely straight and with complete sincerity, and the show itself seems inspired by equal parts The Road Warrior and all of the bad kung-fu movies that ever crawled out of Asia. The hero (Ken) is a cross between Bruce Lee, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Chuck Norris, making the show so goddamn manly that I'm worried that I might get pregnant from watching it, despite being male.

Oh yeah, the premise. Almost forgot. Bruce Schwarzennorris wanders the wasteland with a couple of spunky sidekicks on a quest to rescue his kidnapped girlfriend from his arch-enemy, aided only by his fighting technique which uses the body's pressure points to (among other things) make people explode. Along the way he kills all the bad guys, rescues the helpless, and broods a lot.

Best scene so far: Ken uses his martial arts to kill Red Afro Hypnosis Dracula by causing him to be struck by lightning. I'm not making this up.

Was that the live-action film or the animated version?

We watched the True Blood pilot yesterday. It's silly and inconsequential, but quite entertaining. I'll definitely watch the next couple of episodes. (Although it's almost embarrassing to see Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin together on screen. Honestly, get a room, you two!)

I watched part 1 and 2 of a BBC documentary about Egypt (specifically, recreations of the projects that went into discovering/unearthing King Tut). I think that such things are underrated, as the acting (as far as I could tell) was top-notch, and the recreation was so accurate (a period around the early 1900s to WWI), I felt like I was seeing the real thing, not just actors playing the part.

I almost never get that sense while watching real movies. I guess it's the in-your-face special effects that mainstream movies bring, along with convoluted and ridiculous plots, plot twists, or character actions that are so common which breaks that immersion.

TV show, anime. Forgot to mention that Ken's kidnapped girlfriend is chronically depressed, although it's unclear whether that's because her name is pronounced "urea" or because she looks like Jay Leno. To be fair, most of the adults in this show look like Jay Leno.

I've just watched first episode of Flash Forward.

It's great! Mix of Lost, Fringe and X-Files. If you like big mysteries this one is for you.
