No. The first ep. was ok, but damn, it is the same thing over and over. They find nothing.
We just started watching Rome. It hasn't grabbed me the way The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Deadwood or The Wire did, but it's definitely got great acting and production values, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of it.
I finally found a DVD of God, The Devil and Bob, so that will be this week's viewing.
I've been re-watching Babylon 5 lately. It seemed to go a lot faster the first time I saw it. Regardless, it's still good stuff.
I have been consideing watching FarScape. I caught a few episodes a while back, and it was decent, if standard, sci-fi. The living ship is a neat idea, and Jim Henson's studio always creates interesting looking creatures.
I own season 1, (got it on the super-cheap...$4) so when I get the time I will probably start it. Anyone have any experience with the series? Thoughts?
'Standard' is not a word I would have ever used to describe FarScape.

Gunny, Farscape only gets better from Season 1 out. Season 1 is the writers finding their feet, but after that it only gets deeper and darker and better. If you don't mind the animatronics (yeah it's Jim Henson's workshop, but that doesn't mean Rygel or Pilot are muppets), stick with Farscape for the story.
Season 1 is just a glimpse of things to come: from Season 2 onwards, they flesh out the characters completely, drag them through hell and back, take inspired risks with the story worthy of Babylon 5 - the sort of stuff that you wish Star Trek had the balls to do - and generally ensure you're in for one hell of a ride. There's also the occasional mindfuck/comedy episode as a change of pace, and it's telling that even these don't flag in terms of overall quality.
Also: Farscape boasts quite possibly some of the best visual effects in a TV series to date, Star Treks included. Possibly the one series that looks better is BSG, and that came out years later.
What about Stargate? It looked pretty good, had some interesting plots, etc.
Not saying it's better, but I haven't seen it mentioned (not that I looked too hard, though).
House's 6th season started off so amazing. Probably the best episode of House made. Made me well up and in turn, laugh.
The poor thing is that they can hardly top it with normal episodes now.
Every episode relays on the same formula as it is:
1) The other person, not the character being focused on, gets sick at the beginning of episode--thus becoming the patient.
2) Patient enters hospital, House takes an interest.
3) Through deduction, House takes a wild stab and prescribes a cure
4) cure works...
5) ...until patient goes into cardiac arrest.
6) House has a problem with Wilson
7) Patient starts circling the drain
8) House pisses off Cuddy, then flirts with Cuddy
9) Patient is brought in for "last-ditch-effort" surgery.
10) House figures out the cause of illness by finally noticing something seemingly unconnected (i.e. a cat, bottle, hammer, sponge, bits of string, spilt milk...etc...), stops surgery, and saves patient's life.
It's been like this for five seasons. I wouldn't worry too much about topping the season opener.
And yes, I still fucking love House, and was plaster to the TV Monday night for the, what I thought too was, incredible opener.

Man, I loved Stargate but Farscape is so much better it's not even funny.
True true. This become quite apparent, when I catched up with the series watching seasons 1-4 in row over two weeks. Still, I love it.
I think they kind of started taking a better approach with season 4. You know, actually putting the characters at risk and changing the dynamics. Haven't seen anything as emotional as the death of Amber in season 4 in television since...well, I don't know.
It seems all you guys do is watch old TV shows. Way to go !

Very true. Stargate was a lot of fun but it really went on for a few seasons too many. For me, it was most enjoyable around third or fourth season when the writers seemed to enjoy throwing out episodes which kept you guessing about what was going on or how things were going to resolve themselves for at least half of the episode.
Fantastic week of shows starting up again, notably I caught (spoilers ahoy):
House S6 Ep 1 - very very good, I thoroughly enjoyed the 2 hours of watching Hugh Laurie ACT instead of just being his usual dickish self. Looking forward to this season now.
How I Met Your Mother S5 Ep 1 - lots of laughs, Barney and Robin were great and now I'm convinced we are never going to see the mother of the title.
The Big Bang Theory S3 Ep 1 - again, I laughed alot, its as if the show never left the air these guys are brilliant and finally Penny and Lenard sleep together and yes it is "weird".
Fringe S2 Ep1 and Ep2 - loving this show, much better then I thought it would be, and if you compare it to the XFiles then you need your head examined. Plus it has Spock in it. Win.
Dollhouse S2 Ep 1 - again, its a shame this got so much bad press in Season 1 but if you stick with it then its ultimately very rewarding and could be one of the best shows ever I reckon (if you like that sort of thing, and I'm discounting the Wire...natch).
FlashForward - did anyone else see this? what did you think? i thought it was an interesting premise but it dragged on way too long and the sfx were utter shite, the acting marginal and some of it just plain stupid. Plus my friend wiki'd the book and now we know how it ends - silly ending and my "theory" that I submitted while watching the premier was agreed to be much better.
In addition I caught up with some True Blood Season 2, now on Episode 8 of 12 and loving it.

Farscape is the shit, it's true. It was the first television series I actually bothered to watch all the way through from beginning to end.
The only downsides (aside from a couple errant episodes) were that season four was a bit lame compared to the awesome season 3 (Sikozu was just fucking annoying). Also, the mini-series they used to rap everything up was also somewhat underwhelming for me.
Agree about season 4, but it still had some pretty frigging amazing parts to it, you'll have to agree, like the entire middle arc (which would have been the closing arc in any other series).
Also, it gets bonus points for having Aeryn deliver the best line in the entire series - 'Merry frelling Christmas!'
The mini-series couldn't help but be a pared down experience. You can't compress what was intended to be an entire season into 3 hours.
Still, I'm glad we got it, thanks in large part to the phenomenal fan support post-cancellation; it was a pretty good effort at wrapping the story up, all things considered, and provided some much-needed closure.

Ah, Chinatown and Rosemary's Baby. Two of the best films ever made.
