Last movie I watched was The Warriors a few weeks ago. A classic, in my opinion. I'm planning to watch Apocalypse Now Redux at some point, but I have to be in the right mood/mindset for it.

Upgraded to the Blu-Ray of 'The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford' last weekend. I want to put my babies in that movie.

The Exterminating Angel by Luis Bunuel a film about a group of people who are unable to leave a dinner party. Much darker than I thought it would be given the premise and that the only other Bunuel film I've seen is the rather charming satire The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie. Still it was a good film.
Home by Ursula Meier (not the Youtube film), a swiss film about a family that doesn't want (or can't) leave it's home next to a newly opened highway.

It was more or less what I was expecting, a sort of half broody half not-sure-what-to-do-with-itself flick that really took a bit too long to hit the central conceit and didn't really do as much with it as I hoped. It was good but not great. The score and visuals were fantastic though.
Torque was on TV a couple of nights ago. Words can not describe how awesome this movie is, you are simply going to have to watch this clip.
Redux is shit. It takes an hour longer to say exactly what the original theatrical cut said in 2 hours. Plus it totally screws up Willard's character motivation.Originally Posted by dethtoll

Anyway the last film that I saw was Antichrist and I've already shared my opinion on that.
I'm sick of these old, senile directors who lost their talent years ago, coming back and revising their classics decades later.
Coppola recutting Apocalypse Now; Friedkin re-colour timing the entire look of French Connection so that it no longer has that gritty documentary feel (so only the old DVD from like 2003 is worth owning, not the Blu-ray); Walter Hill adding fucking Flash-esque animation sequences and scene transitions to The Warriors; E.T. and the walkie talkies.

I've been meaning to start a general 'movies' thread for short reviews for a while now as we have threads for huge-giant-blockbusters, but that covers barely any of them!
That's pretty much what I thought of it too. Good way to pass a couple of hours.
I saw The Taking of Pelham 123 last week. Good action film, outdoor scenes filmed in an unusual, but pleasing way. A little buy-the-numbers I guess, but it never stopped moving forwards. Totally recommended, even if does star Xenu Travolta.
More or less agreed, although I wouldn't go so far as to call it shit. A lot of the extra footage, while being well shot and acted, completely kills the momentum of the film.
Anyway I just finished watching Appaloosa. A very traditional, to the point it was sometimes a little dull, and deliberately paced western with solid performances and a story that doesn't quite always go were you expect. Viggo Mortensen and Ed Harris work really well together and Jeremy Irons has some charismatic fun as the villian but the film never quite comes together dramatically. 6.5/10
I guess it's time to add Redux to the list of things only I like. It's almost as long as the list of things only I dislike.

Agreed on the French plantation, but I liked the scenes with the playmates, total madness.
Anyways, saw a nice little French horror-movie 'Artifacts' and I recommend it, I wouldn't call it a great movie it's a bit messy, but it's scary as fuck, reminded me a bit of Lovecraft for some reason, the discomfort that starts at your feet and ends in your head. Does that makes sense? Probably not.
Oh, and saw a Finnish comedy 'Songs from the second Floor', HILARIOUS, I like scandinavian humor, or really everything scandinavian minus denmark (NO I AM NOT GERMAN YOU ASSHOLES I AM DUTCH AND WHAT IF I WAS), there must be a lot going on behind that icy facade.

(I'm all about "TV" lately and there's a thread for that. I did go and see new Aus flick Last Ride the other day though; wayward deadbeat dad (Agent Smith)snatches up his young son and drives off into the wilderness. Audience follows along and gradually finds out why. You know the sort of thing and how it'll probably end, but they did it well. Particularly for a flick where there's mostly two people in it and one of them is an introverted kid.)
You have to admit Ridley Scott did a good job on Alien DC. He recut the whole film, rather than just adding cut material. It features something like 17 minutes of new stuff but the whole cut is 1 minute shorter than Alien 1979.
I just watched Ratatoullie last night on blu ray, I'm planning on watching Total Recall tonight to settle a debate with a friend as to whether Arnie was sleeping the whole movie or not. He totally wasn't.
Oh shit, I almost forgot. I watched Dirty Harry a few weekends ago. I remember it because it had this fake widescreen, so it had black bars on top and below the picture and it looked squished on my TV, which is a widescreen.

You guys weren't kidding when you said it was pretty fucked up, huh. I was pretty shocked at the themes going on, because the opening five minutes seemed to paint it as one of those generic happy go lucky, lost-in-a-strange-dimension cartoon shows.
Can I talk about a movie pilot for a TV show? I just saw the Caprica pilot. Interesting, but underdeveloped. I felt it needed more thought and subtlety, plus there's some amount of soap opera syndrome clogging up the works, which was a little disappointing.
Coming to the plot, the central conceit about making a clone of a personality made use of such a large leap of logic that it had me shaking my head. Also, the fact that the Taurons are basically Italians, all of whom wear suits like they just walked off the set of The Godfather does the writing no favours either.
I'll probably be with this one for the long haul anyway, because the idea of fucking around with and at the same time establishing the history behind BSG is a tantalising proposition.

I'm working my way through the David Tennant Doctor Who episodes - they're pretty watchable.
Last night I saw the latest Harry Potter movie; coming from someone who has never read the books, or really paid much attention to the story or other movies; I found it enjoyable - if extremely dark and with very adult themes for what is in essence a kids movie...
Looking forward to catching Moon this week aswell.
