I haven't been very far right now, but is it normal to start in hard mode with nothing else but 2 water arrows and the lockpicks? I chose hard more because I didn't want a "no KO" objective, but then if I have no blackjack anyway... :/

The mission looks great though, and I will continue it from here, but I'd prefer you told me that I'll get my blackjack later :P

You'll find it. Ghosting definately is an option, I had already finished ~ 90 % of the mission till I found it.

Great mansion mission, surprising how good those first TDM missions can be.

This doesn't get much discussion, but if we all stop and compare these early TDM missions to most of the early T1 missions.... there's no comparison.

Certainly the flexible and development-friendly platform, coupled with the decade+ of experience in the community lead to improved results! Hopefully more among those holding out will soon consider giving it a chance, given the good stuff going on in TDM.

It's really a pity that the mod has such high hardware requirements. Usually, even people who would get stuck at home with a crappy computer were able to fire DromEd and start toying with it. I can't help but think that there is a large part of the community that is left out and can't experience how great the Dark Mod is (and when you're running it smoothly at 1680x1050 with 2xAA, I can tell you that it's indeed fantastic).

I know that nothing can be done, but I hope we can get the word out that getting a better computer to run the dark mod, if possible, is clearly worth it.

The requirements really aren't high though, unless your system is quite a few years behind. Doom 3 was released 5.5 years ago, and if you can run it, TDM will run at least reasonably well. I worked on TDM from 2004 till I believe late 2008 using a Pentium 4 1.4 GHz system with a GeForce 4600. That's pretty much below bottom of the line today. If anyone's running less than that now, yes they are a bit out of date unfortunately -- but I was able to run missions with framerates ranging from 8 FPS to 40 FPS depending on the area and AI demands. This, keeping in mind that when I played Thief the first time, my framerates weren't even that good (I didn't have a 3D card yet, IIRC). And believe it or not, it was all about that old video card. It eventually died and I replaced it with a $13 Geforce 6800. Now that same old 1.4Ghz machine plays any mission to date with 20+ FPS. To repeat: my upgrade was $13.

Great mission really captures the thief feeling.
A little off topic but is there a way to "check" which mission I have played in the installation menu?

    Congratulation Sonosuke!

Really one of the best mission until now for TDM.
I like the style, very pure "T2FM"

The plot it's really cool, and also the puzzles are challenging.

    Thanks for this gift!

Replayed this one and had just as much fun the second time through - still missing some loot so I'll give it another shot. Posted a review with screens here for anyone interested!

It seems the General prefers complete privacy when viewing his treasure.

    if that is not enough:
try closing the door on the inside

2:Take another look in the guards bedroom
3: It opens the ceiling ^^

That it not possible yet, maybe with the next update. Well you can take a look into the doom3 folder, there you can see what you have installed once but not more then that.

Or you can check the review thread here to see what areas from screenshots you recognize and which ones you don't - I'll be covering every mission

Very sneaky way to promote your reviews, Sneaky!

That wasn't my intention at all, just being honest - I use the "Guess the fan mission" screenshots all the time that you and other folks post to see which thief missions I've played and which ones I might have missed. Screens are actually very helpful to keep track of what you have experienced and what you still need to play

Anyway - this really is an excellent mansion mission and one of the more 'multi playstyle' missions released thus far - everyone should check it out. It'll give you the thief feel and make you excited for what is to come in the future of TDM.

That's true - I always get a bit annoyed when people make their FM title something that doesn't describe anything or that doesn't make sure it rings a bell - so that I never remember if I played that mission when I look at the name. (For example the non-describing title A Lovely Night versus the describing title The Sun Within And The Sun Without).
