And Kotaku have indeed followed up with an account of a brief experience in New Vegas. Not much in the way of new info, but you can at least check out their image gallery if you're curious to see a couple of modded weapons.
Kotaku have done a short piece on it recently, can be summed up as follows:
- Hardcore Mode: hunger, thirst, stimpacks regenerate health over time and do not heal crippled parts, serious injuries require a doc's attention, ammo weight;
- Companion Wheel allows you to command your followers (including inventory access, though no indication if that's a simple trade interface or a new, more direct control);
- Weapon Mods (scopes, clips, etc.), a few new weapons, and (maybe, can't tell for sure) different ammo types;
- Notoriety (public reputation) system to complement the Karma system (personal morality), and influence your "public relations";
- Tweaks to VATS to allow melee attacks (?);
- Three factions: New California Republic, the Brotherhood of Steel, and Caesar's Legion;
- Amnesiac starting theme: you start off with some extra lead lodged in your thick skull and you set off to find out who you've got to thank for it after a doc patches you up (character customisation);
The article has a few screenshots (including a blast from an orbital cannon) and they say to expect a more in-depth hands-on preview this following week.
I googled around to see if I could find some other previews or anything, and I stumbled on a summary of an XBox 360 World preview in the lair of the Koki. I'll post a few of their meatier bullet points to complete the above:
I also got to skim a friend's Edge magazine (I think the latest one), there's a preview in there if anyone's interested. I'm afraid not much stuck with me, though, as I didn't have a lot of time to look it over, but I do remember a mention that you won't be seeing any improved animation assets or much to address complaints about the combat handling or ballistics model. Not that there ever was a reason to, this is just an expansion and those are hopes best left for Fallout 4.Originally Posted by Duck and Cover

* All of your skills can be used to influence dialogue
* The Hoover Dam is intact and produces electricity
* Electricity seems to be one of the main things in the game
* New Vegas will have different endings, "instead of the single, potentially anachronistic 'man/woman saves the Wasteland' finale."
* New weapon - The "All-American" - a rapid fire Sniper Rifle

Never mind guns, bloody golf clubs!![]()
Put a scope on it and I'm sold. I don't even care what it would be good for.
Fallout 3 with a 'Hardcore' mode and possibly not shit writing? Colour me VERY fucking interested.
Some of their design choices are extremely tasteless to say the least.. i guess i prefer a more serious tone to the FO universe

You're playing the wrong series.
Newsflash:- Fallout has always been tongue-in-cheek and laced with dark humour to a degree. It isn't some new element shoehorned in by Bethesda by any means.
EDIT:-
Let's not forget that Obsidian is more or less Black Isle.

Newsflash 1: New Vegas is created by Obsidian, not Bethesda.
Newsflash 2: FO isn't just tongue in cheek, i bet you havent played any of the FO games if you think so. It has always had elements of it though, for example their cartoon info commercials. But that doesnt mean i want to see robots with cartoon faces in-game. That's just shitty design and nothing else.
I could care less if god himself created the game, i'm still entitled to my opinion.
jesus christ vurt bethesda and obsidian aren't finnish what is your DEAL
hahahaha what how the fuck was i wrong
actually no you know what i don't care shut up and fuck off you miserable troll
Every angry troll post you make (everytime i post on this forum, that is) is just another proof of how wrong you were. If you know you were right you wouldnt be such a little bitch about it and instead be happy and move on to another subject, but you cant. Doesn't take a genius to figure out why :P
But yeah, i'll move on instead, it's not like this forum has anything to offer any longer except angry emo kids like yourself. I hope my leave is at least a little bit of light in your otherwise miserable life.
They put the bloody Guardian of Forever, at least 2 Monty Python references and a lot more into the previous games. If that's not being tongue in cheek, then I don't know.
don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out vurt
Too many things to quote...instead, I will simply say "I AM LAUGHING MY MOTHAFUKKIN' ASS OFF OVER HERE", and be off...
they maybe not finnish, but they highly likely employ some muslims. damn muslims all came to sweden AND THEY TOOK OUR JOBS.
Anyway, here's the box art + first details of the Collector's Edition.

Interview with lead designer, J.E. Sawyer (whom had the same role on Van Buren).As you can tell from the above image, every extra has been crafted to resemble items from the world of New Vegas, from the distressed deluxe box to the poker chip recreations. On top of that, this stuff won’t just look great on your shelf — it’s also surprisingly functional. Did we mention the hardcover Fallout comic, and the full deck of New Vegas-themed playing cards?
The Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC versions of the CE will all include the following:
♠ Seven “Lucky 7” poker chips, each designed to represent chips from the major casinos found on the New Vegas strip and throughout the Mojave Wasteland.
♠ A fully customized Fallout: New Vegas deck of cards. Each card in the pack has been uniquely illustrated to depict characters and factions found within the game. Use the cards to play poker, blackjack or Caravan, an original card game that was created by Obsidian especially for New Vegas.
♠ A recreation of the game’s highly coveted “Lucky 38” platinum chip.
♠ A hardcover graphic novel “All Roads” that tells the story of some of the characters and events that lead up to Fallout: New Vegas. “All Roads” was written by Chris Avellone, the game’s creative director, and created in conjunction with Dark Horse Comics.
♠ ‘The Making of Fallout: New Vegas’ DVD. This documentary DVD will contain exclusive video content, including interviews with the developers in which they take you from concept to creation and discuss topics such as story, setting, legacy of the Fallout franchise and more.
North Americans can pre-order at any participating retailer — like GameStop — starting today. European pre-orders will be available throughout Europe in the weeks to come.

finally, they'll actually do what u wnat!
great system
hopefully they'll have a crime and punishment system so u'll get arrested instead of just get killed (or at least attacked) when u do something wrong
definately cos the special attacks for each weapon uses vats and the golf club has the 'fore!' attack
great cos aside from a few weapons and stuff its very similar to FO3![]()
I think my brain just hemorrhaged.
