Grigorovitch may have found a deal with Bethesda without selling the brand. More precisely, it appears he only sold the rights for a game which Bethesda would develop as they see fit in one of their studios (they don't have any in Ukraine) with their own technology. What.

    Hopefully more official info soon.

Who knows? I'm not convinced we'll get a convincing sequel to Stalker, but whatever does come out might be ok in its own right.

According to this article, what Grigorovich didn't sell was the rights to use the Stalker 'extended universe'. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012...ims-galyonkin/

I'm a little confused. What does that mean? That Bethesda can use the Stalker name, but not the engine, maps, etc., of the Stalker games?

    I seek enlightenment, please.

As I understand, it means that Beth have licensed the right to produce, with their own tech and assets, one STALKER game. They have not bought the STALKER IP, nor have they licensed the use of the X-Ray engine or the content files of the previous games for this project.

    Thank you Ostriig.

    This could be tragic.

What it means (in other words) is that Grigorovich is making a boatload of cash doing absolutely nothing besides signing a sheet of paper while everyone ever involved in S.T.A.L.K.E.R, from developers to gamers, has moved onto something else.
Gotta take good care of that beautiful juvenile mustache and pay the daily delivery of cocaine and prostitutes.

I'm tempted to say they did a good enough job with Fallout 3, but I don't want to upset Koki.

Yeah, I love Morrowind/Oblivion/Skyrim/Fallout 3/New Vegas but STALKER in that style is a terrible idea. Of course, the rumor is that Bethesda the publisher has rights to publish a STALKER game, not that Bethesda Game Studios is making it. And this rumor came up almost 4 months ago and was bullshit then, anyway.

There's... not that much difference between Skyrim and STALKER games actually.

Thought you guys might enjoy some pics of the development on Stalker 2... some in engine shots here as well!

    "Oh hell yea man,

That’s what i am talking about More of that creepy, atmospheric, addictive dangerous stuff! I got this in the last hour, and wanted to put this up so fast that i was like ”fuck this” during work. And just started on this article, hope you enjoy !

As usual i cannot reveal my source(s), but know that you know as much as i do on these beauties. The only text included with it was as followed.

Exclusive 3D scenes and models from STALKER 2. All the material is taken from a portfolio of Sergey Ivanchenko, 3D-artists working in GSC Game World.

There was no description on each of these pics, as to compared tot he last one, but still. This is awesome!!!"

Looking amazing as always. These guys have amazing ideas.

AND some interesting news as well: (I'm on a roll here!)

    "Hello my Stalkers!

I want to start of by wishing you all a happy Halloween.

With that said, lets start with Stalker 2!

Recently there was this meeting with this guy called Mr. Razumov, who is/was an important man within the former Stalker team, what i manage to get my hands on were the highlights summarized of this meeting with a bunch of very exciting things, it go’s as followed:

    After meeting M. Razumov said:

Brand S.T.A.L.K.E.R. not sold and it still owns S.Grigorovich.
Development of the game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 suspended, but not closed.
Grigorovich has some suggestions for the project S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2

All we have to gain more patience, do not believe every rumor (like Galenkin and Co.), and wait for news from Grigorovich. Projects like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. live forever!!!

Thanks to our community reader Jaunty for the tip!"

AAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNDDDDDDDDDD last but not least, the whole Road Side picnic book can be found here in digital form:

All you have to do is use Google Translate. Copy the http address & paste it in the 'translate' box & it opens the page already translated.

I'm still so confused about this entire thing and hope we get a proper statement about it someday.

Only played Stalker vanilla (couldn't handle Complete / 2009 on my PC), but yeah it's one of the best FPS's in my book for sure. I pretty much want a new gaming rig just to play the sequels and the original over again with mods. lol

Finished up a highly modded version of Call of Pripyat, a couple months ago. Such an amazing game, with tons of atmosphere. LOVE the blowouts, especially with the "atmosFEAR" mod!!! Dreaded hearing/feeling that seriously low sonic boom when I was out in the zone, with no safe spot nearby. Truly scary.

Saw a vid on YouTube of Stalker being played with a bunch of mods added, and it was running so smooth, and looked SO GOOD, that I wish I could find all the mods and play it.

Don't care for vanilla. It's old in the tooth, to be fair.
