In the device manager it is listed as a Intel(R) 82830M Graphics controller

That controller is a piece of shit even by Intel's standards, but it shouldn't have problems running SS2 as far as I can tell. Try add safe_texture_manager to the cam.cfg file in your SS2 folder.

Make sure the file is called user.cfg, not user.cfg.txt.
A good way to make sure that isn't the case, is to uncheck 'Hide extensions for known file types'. You find that option by opening any folder, click Tools, then Folder Options, and then View. There look for the extension option.

I know that.. I just tried adding the line to the cam.cfg instead of user.cfg but it didn't help either..

Well, if you are using the latest video drivers, then chances are you are screwed with that video controller.

I get the following screen trying to start up SS2 in Vista Ultimate (x86):

System is Opteron 165, 2Gb RAM & Radeon X1900XTX with Catalyst 7.9 installed. Tried the normal "tricks" (ran the SS2Tool to fix the "bugs" etc.) without results.

EDIT: Duh, I forgot to remove my "tweaks" in the Shock.cfg file. I had set bitdepth to 32-bit, something that definitely didn't work.
