    This glitch "possible shortcut" I reported in post #958 in this topic, but I forgot to add describe - this entry at the moment 0:12 is however possible to get, so, I think that maybe... expand or clog this entry (mission "Return to the Cathedral")?

    Help With TG Dromed and TFix

    I may need some help and wanted to get some advice in advance.

    I just purchased a copy of TG (my old copy was scratched) and woudl like to load the game, load up Dromed and load TFix. I assume I would do it in this order:

    1. Load game
    2. Load Dromed
    3. Load TFix

    Is that the right order? I had a feeling that it is not that easy but maybe too many years of Dromed has made me pessimistic and it is that easy.

    you do not "load" TFix, you apply it - and whatever you want to do, you should apply it right after you install the game. also, here.

    Hi voodoo47 and other T fans

    After over 10 years break and after newest Thief release I decided to back to TGold instead of wasting time on this new crappy thing -poor game design and loading screens in 2014 when T1 from 1998 can run without loading areas, ehhh.....

    Ok... I have read some pages from this thread and make steps as described but cant get rid of my problem:

    1st - purchgased Thief Gold on Steam (my old CD lost)
    2. shut down Steam, copied whole Thief folder to other partition to make sure its NOT under steam controll
    3. Installed TFix (newest TFix_1.18g.exe).
    4 installed audio files (Aol and Thies enhancments)
    5 T HD textures 91 and patch to 092

    All installed fine, I started THIEF.exe as administrator and started playing - 1st mission. After several minutes game crashed. In details: whole screen freezes, my hdd led started flashing ( I assume that in background game created crash.dmp file in Thief directory) and common windows popup window showed with error.

    After this I decided to make investigation so deinstalled ALL and downloaded whole TGold from Steam. When done I copied fresh Thief directory on other dish - for future source to avoid steam downloading. So I started installing all again but not all at same time. So first I installed TFix. Started game , played over 3 minutes and.....and again crash. So at this point I know that its not by any audio addons or HD pack.
    So at this point I know that its in TFix is problem so I deleted whole Thies and copied from fresh install, then installed TFix again but WITHOUT any checkboxes (no small mods - all unchecked) Started game and again afted no more than 5 minutes freezing and hang out - game crashed.

    nothing suspicious in the log file. the game should generate a crash.dmp file each time it crashes - zip the file up, upload to mediafire or sendspace and post the link.

    what kind of audio driver are you using? try hardware acceleration off (audio options). if that won't help, try openal (you might need to install the openal package first). also, try to produce a couple of more crashdumps.

    also, double check - right now, you are running a clean steam install, patched with TFix, no mods, right?

    Im using Open AOL driver in audio menu - hardware acceleration ON. But when I turned OFF - so only software acceleration - thief hangs again and again - no matter if I set AOL or hardware ON/OFF.

    Yes I have only clean copy of TGold ( copied from installed steam directory) + only TFix with unchecked all mods.

    Each time crash.dmp is created - no problem I can upload it rared to you. I attach 2nd in link.

    In meantime I searched some similar problems with TG, users with Vista 32bit ( like me) and these solutions pointed to set multicore processor ( like my Core 2 Duo P8400 2,26GHz ) to only 1 core in task manager - i did it but still game crash do desktop. I even copied fresh instalation to D: partition to avoid \program files influences.

    no matter what I set in audio options - game hang crash to desktop after while.

    When I set 1 core to thief process then crash too - so its not multicore issue in my case.

    What have u found in 2 crash dump files which I uploaded ? What program is used to look inside them ?

    I'm trying to get OpenAL working in Thief Gold. Thing is I already have it working in Thief 2, so I just copied the dll's across into my Thief Gold directory, but that didn't work (openal doesn't show on hw acceleration, eax is greyed out). My Thief 2 installation has newdark 1.19 and Thief 1 has newdark 1.21, could that make a difference?

    copying dlls sounds like a bad idea - you are supposed to install the package, and then the option should be available. also, you should be running the latest version of NewDark with all your dark games.

    Hi guys, long time no see. I'll cut to the chase:

    What about the cutscenes if you're playing the patched TG on 64 bit Windows 7 ? Have the infamous problems with the non-playing cutscenes been fixed as well ?

    And should I install New Dark first (on top of TG) and only then install the TFix packages ?

    Thanks in advance for any advice.

    the cutscenes should work now. TFix is the only thing you need (kind of the point of an all-in-one-patcher). if you have the steam release, make sure to completely disable steam before patching.

    I don't own any games from Steam, so that's not an issue.

    However, I'm not yet sure whether the collection DVD I have the trilogy on installs them along the classic folder path that the installments have been using, as well as this patch. Personally, I think it does, given that the FMs for the second game worked fine for me when installed along those folder paths. If I'd run into problems with folder/directory structure, I'll let you guys know.

    I'll confess that I've never played a TG FM before, because I could never really get them to work. Now with this new patch and with more modern loaders than we had a few years ago, I might just finally play them. I'm hoping for it, in any case.

    By and large, Tafferpatcher does the same for TMA as TFix does for TG, right ?

    Hardly matters when I won't be playing Thief 2 again anytime soon.

    I installed the package (ran the installer in my Thief Gold directory). Made no difference.

    I have a problem with this patch, when I pick up loot, I can't see what I picked up so I always have to scroll through my inventory to figure out what I got from a chest. Anyone familiar with the problem?

    1.18h is up. didn't have time to work on missions, so it's just one fix really - managed to solve the issue with the steam build overwriting essential files. now everything should work right out of the box, no need to disable steam or anything.

    Hey everyone. Last night I was looking at the file structure of the optional items added by TFix 1.18h and I noticed a few things when combining it with the HD Texture mod by Bentraxx.

    1. Bentraxx includes the T2 Skies and Daemonite's Meshes in his mod, so installing them with TFix is unnecessary. And because the latest version of his mod includes it's own water mod, T2 Water is also not needed. oRGy's Texture pack also appears incompatable because many of the same textures are present at a higher resolution in the HD Texture mod. Finally, the Thief Enhancement Pack included with TFix is v1, which has been superceeded by Thief Enhancement Pack v2. Perhaps a warning could be added to the TFix installer that suggests turning the optional items off if the player intends to use the HD Texture mod with Thief Enhancement Pack v2? I see no point in adding unnecessary and/or redundant files to the Thief Gold installation that aren't going to be used.

    2. Not sure if this is TFix's fault or something within the NewDark engine itself, but I can't activate Daemonite's Meshes because there doesn't appear to be a Character Detail setting in the in-game options menu anymore for me to set to High. The guards still look blocky with blurry low-res textures rather than the crisp textures you can find in mesh/txt
