Much better, but with radically limitations

Unnatural difference between Thief 1.21 and Thief 1.37 - there is no alarm while using a flashbomb in this place in Undercover (version 1.21).

Is that so? Doesn't seem to cause any problems for me.

I think you can't take screenshots or something like that, it has been reported on the steam forums multiple times.

Two windows at the beginning in mission "Thieves' Guild":

EDIT: Also there is no sound propagation in these two "windows" places: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2DxHTdfKro

yeah, room brushing/sound propagation in Thieves Guild is not particularly amazing. anyway, both problems are easily fixable.

do note that youtube videos are not exactly optimal for bugreports, the best way is to send me a package which contains a save, a screenshot, and a short description of the problem. makes fixing a lot easier.

About the same mission - this sleeping guard is as if inactive - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1FXAKIZTbYU

EDIT: Still there is a crash while restarting mission "Thieves' Guild" in casino (exit to Windows). I had a situation in casino, that after death by sword (after a long battle with guard) only need to restart - also it will be a crash in casino.

This first moss texture seems as in less resolution compared to this second moss texture - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rK7e-1i-5R8 - is it normal?

the first one is probably a metaprop issue, probably fixable, but I need to level up in dromed for a bit.

the crash is not something I can fix. He who does not save his Dark game every half a hour shall condemn himself into suffering eternal.

that is a texture scale discrepancy - I think it's already fixed in TFix 1.19 (this weekend maybe). also, the level has been renamed from Mage Towers into LGS Didn't Give A Damn About Texture Scale Towers.

There are a lot of these moss textures in mission "The Mage Towers" - not only this place.

TFix 1.19? I have more than 100 video files (little and scary bugs) in one folder, and... I can't join these videos because of different resolutions. Just because.

I will try to upload it for a few days - rather after weekend (if it will be finally possible).

EDIT: There is a icon from Thief 1 in TFix, maybe yet a process name not Thief 2 Final 1.21, but for example Thief 1 1.21 (or Thief 1 Final 1.21)?

no. changing the exe version via hexediting is a bad, BAD, BAD idea, and I'm not going to do it.

Um, first, I was offering it to XModule999 who sounded like it was what he wanted, and second, I no longer change the version number (if you read it more carefully,) I just changed what it displays next to the version number.... Mainly "Thief 1 NewDark 1.21" (notice the same version number,) instead of "Thief 2 FINAL 1.21", and "Thief 1 Gold NewDark 1.21" instead of "Thief 2 FINAL 1.21". See, the version numbers are all the same, I just made it more clear which game was actually loading (like he seemed to be asking for.) As a matter of fact, I think it was "you" who convince me not to change the version number in the first place (as I used to do that.) To me, the Thief 1 and Thief Gold part lets me know which game is up (mainly in the FMSel window, but in the main game too if you are playing in a window,) the NewDark lets me know that it is actually a Thief 2 engine modified to run Thief 1 missions, and the 1.21 tells me which version of NewDark it is.

As for hex editing an exe file, I would not advise doing that unless you've studied the exe file format, more specifically PE (or Window's portable executable) file format, compiled code organization and data structures. Just doing a simple "search and replace" is not a very good idea. Especially if what you are replacing is larger than what was already there. You cannot always assume that a series of 0's is padding, even in constant data structures. While it's usually not necessary to decode an entire program, you should at least try to find the references to that area of the DS, and see if anything is referencing what you are changing outside of the original field. Even then, it's safest to "test" the final product before releasing it I played the entire game with the changes and couldn't find a problem (but maybe someone else will.)

    Of course.

Original icon from Thief 1 - was added in TFix 1.11 (to new T2-based engine for Thief 1 or Gold). Perfectly.

Process name "Thief Gold NewDark 1.21" is more OK compared to "Thief 2 Final 1.21". Ideally would be "Thief Gold Final 1.21", or "Thief Gold patched 1.21" or similar.

Yet a command "springcap max_spring_vel 30" (or vel 35?) in TFix's file cam.cfg (it will eliminate lean to back while bunnyhopping), and Thief's world would be more beautifully...

yes, and I was just informing him that I'm not going to change it, so if it bothers him, he can either do it himself or get some of your files (I hope this will not mess up the crashdumps). I've been in this business long enough to know that if something ain't broke, you shouldn't fix it.

I will have a look at the springcap max_spring_vel parameter, but no promises, globally changing the way the player moves is something that will need a lot of testing.

Don't change this parameter above than vel_40 (vel_50?) - because rope death bug will be (sometimes) happen.

EDIT: And of course NPC boosting - the higher vel value, the stronger NPC boosting. Between default vel value (vel_25) and vel_30 there is a minimally difference.

    Looks like two (other?) textures:

Low and high resolutions of the same texture, or two other textures?

yeah, a slightly different texture. easily fixable, BUT - you really, really need to start submitting proper bugreports. a youtube video might be fun for you, but I simply don't have time to fly around levels trying to find the place where the problem is. make a screenshot of the problem, create a quicksave at the same place, add a text file with a short description ("incorrect texture", "item floating", etc) zip all three files, upload to sendspace or similar and post the link here. by doing this, you will make things much easier for me, so I'll be able to work faster, and also release faster.

No worry, I will try to upload this video "all in one" with bugs - it's more than 100 video files. "Only" these 100+ videos and nothing more, from what I feel.

Annotations? Will be annotations, but without saves.

EDIT: Other glitches in Thieves' Guild:

    pot in air - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zllyxokggU

two lamps - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sORcXhNKiS0 (this second - missing lamp) - missing lamp is not very Thieves' Guild like

    anyway, current progress report:

Training (some small corrections, not a big level so not much to do here)
Bafford's (small fixes, basic overhaul is pretty much done for this level)
Cragscleft (small fixes, basic overhaul is pretty much done for this level)
    Bonehoard (small fixes, overhaul pending)
Assassins (small fixes, basic overhaul is pretty much done for this level)
Sword (small fixes, basic overhaul in progress, most of the fugly stuff should be gone)
Cathedral (basic overhaul in progress, part of the fugly stuff should be gone)
Lost City (small fixes mainly to the starting area, overhaul pending)
Undercover (basic overhaul is pretty much done for this level. sound propagation is awful, will be fixed later)
Return to Cathedral (some basic stuff, overhaul pending)
Escape (some basic stuff fixed, overhaul pending)
Strange bedfellows (basic overhaul is pretty much done for this level. sound propagation is awful, will be fixed later)
Thieves Guild (basic overhaul in progress, most of the fugly stuff should be gone)
Mage Towers (basic overhaul in progress, most of the fugly stuff should be gone)
Caverns (basic overhaul in progress, part of the fugly stuff should be gone)
Maw (some basic stuff fixed, overhaul pending)

I'm going to finish up Undercover, give a bunch of fixes to Cathedral and release TFix 1.19, so I would strongly recommend you wait 48hrs and then start bughunting on the new maps - most of the stuff you have reported should be fixed, and if something has slipped through, just make a new report. and with saves this time.

So, I think that you can as first upload this version 1.19. I will upload this video "all in one" after release of version 1.19.

1.19 is up - as there were a lot of mission updates, make sure to restart your current mission after updating for everything to work properly (so you will probably want to update right after finishing your current mission).

as mentioned before, the current progress on the missions:

Training (some small corrections, not a big level so not much to do here)
Bafford's (small fixes, basic overhaul is pretty much done for this level)
Cragscleft (small fixes, basic overhaul is pretty much done for this level)
    Bonehoard (small fixes, overhaul pending)
Assassins (small fixes, basic overhaul in progress)
Maw (some basic stuff fixed, overhaul pending)

fixing up undercover and strange bedfellows meant redoing the same level three times (as undercover has a T1 and TG version). I didn't find this amazingly entertaining. bloody inverted banners.
