That sure was fast! Trying it out later today. Thanks voodoo!
the skies are working. grab the first beta from the first post, I'm going to get some sleep.
don't be surprised if everything goes nuclear in your face, I had no idea what I was doing half the time.
That sure was fast! Trying it out later today. Thanks voodoo!
I installed TFix 1.11 and everything works fine. Great and fast work!
Is this still just T1/G or is Tfix for T2 also? I've never used it.
TFix is Thief1/G only - while it contains some resources that can be used in T2 as well, many of them are T1/G exclusive, and would break T2. adding support for T2 would be possible I guess, but it would make no sense, as Tafferpatcher is already doing a great job in that area (and that won't change anytime soon, check the Tafferpatcher topic, it's being upgraded with 1.19 as we speak). it would also make TFix much, much more complex - and I would like to keep it as simple as possible. it's because of this simplicity that I have been able to update it so quickly (the only complicated thing is the language detect function, and that has nothing to do with the core files. the rest is just swapping files and making sure everything is copied to the right location).
that's also why big texture packs will not make it into TFix (but I will do my best to make TFix compatible).
Thanks for turning this around so quickly!
Awesome! Just installed Thief Gold with the new TFix update and it works like a charm![]()
Thanks so much voodoo47, works with my GOG version and looks gorgeous. Now it's time to re-play and re-enjoy Thief 1.
I have a little problem though, the movement doesn't work as it should. The way I awlays had it that "W" was forward walk (perfect pace), I held down the "Spacebar" to toggle speed, which made me creep and "Ctrl" was the run (which unfortunately unlike Thief 2 did not require to keep the "W" pressed). After installing TFix the walk is now as slow as the creep usually was for me which is even slower if moving up slopes, speed toggle (creep) is almost standing still and holding the run key and "W" doesn't move at all. Quite a deal breaker for me, is there a way to fix this with the .cfg? Is there a way to get the same movement mechanics as in Thief 2 to Thief 1? So that there is a dedicated "Creep" key and the run key doesn't run aslong as I don't have the "W" key pressed aswell?
I have the same movement problem with the System Shock 2 demo that was posted in the T2_1.19 patch thread. However, the movement in Thief 2, after the 1.19 patch remained unchanged and works perfect.
I assume you tried modifying the controls via the ingame menu without result, right? I'm not as picky about my controls, so I didn't notice that there is a difference.. there is good chance that the controls can be modified somehow, but I have no idea how. maybe when I'm done with the documentation I'll know more.
but there is also a possibility that the controls "just work this way in 1.19". we'll see.

hi!
I'm looking for (separate) links to fixed missions (Training, Bafford, and another one), along with some info what the fixes are. Are they from/for Thief GOLD?
Could you help me, please?
glad you got it working.
they are work in progress, and hence not public. I'm pretty sure the dromeders that have kindly provided them will release them as a separate downloads as soon as they'll be ready (I'll ask just to be sure). as for the fixes, things like misplaced items, incorrect textures, broken sounds etc - there is quite a lot of those in the game, if you know where to look.
Hey there, I have a question .o/
It seems like TFix 1.11 doesn't allow not to install the 1.19 patch.
What if, for some obscure reason (like, I don't know, trying to run the game under Windows 9x, but still get the other textures and model enhancements ?), someone would not want it ? Is there still a download link for version 1.10 ?
Well, I have a copy on my HDD, but I guess an "official" download link might be handy for those who'd need it.
Edit — replying to myself : yes, there is in Komag's message here.
1.10 requires win2000 or newer as well. there is no reason, sane or insane, why would you want to use 1.10 or any other ddfix release now that NewDark is available.
I've got an anomaly:
My new sword, despite being aesthetically pleasing now clips through walls. I'm not sure what causes this. I think that my blackjack does it, too!
make sure you are using TFix 1.11 (this was a ddfix/1.10 and earlier issue). if you are using 1.11, share your saves, screenshots, hw/sw config, and logs, maybe I'll be able to figure something out.
I wanted to install the texture pack by tintin. As you mentioned it´s not compatible with Orgy´s texture pack. Therefore I tried to "uninstall" Orgy by using Tfix and unchecking Orgy. After this I applied tintin´s texture pack but it looked messy. After a complete re-installation of Thief the new texture pack worked. Therefore I have a question: Can I uninstall some of your components afterwards or do I have to uninstall Thief completely?
you forgot to delete the "MODS" folder before using TFix again.
readme - might as well rename it to nobodyreadsme.Originally Posted by TFix readme

Problem here.
I patched my T1 install without any of the extra mods as I want to keep that install as traditional as possible.
I patched my TGold install with all the mods for the extra goodies. But in both cases my walk forward speed is half of normal. Walk backward is fine. If I crouch and run I get the correct speed as well.
Any ideas?
Uhm... check what your walk-forward key is bound to?
Try hitting Caps Lock?
I have an idea that this slow walking is possibly connected with the fact that overall, TG runs more smoothly now due to better modern CPU support. But, maybe it's a bug that not everyone is getting. I dunno. It's just when I first tried out 1.19 with TG, I was amazed by how smoothly it ran, and no insane speeds in more simplistic areas like Baffords' Mansion. The player now moves at a more pleasant speed, comparable to that of the walking speed in T2. The framerate is being kept at a steady rate, in other words. Which might seem like slower movement even when walking.
Though I dunno, that was just my thought.
Hard time thinking it has to do with performance because walk backwards (x) and walk sideways (z,c) are perfectly fine.
I think I know what you mean - some manual editing might be necessary if you need to have "the perfect classic controls" (as the bnd now uses T2 syntax), see here. should someone make such a bnd, I'll include it in TFix gladly.
