Thread: What are you making?

That's ok, not in the mood for a zombie survival sim. Now that I think of it, I've never really been into the zombie genre, aside from maybe L4D (which is hardly a "traditional" zombie game) or Walking Dead (which, again, is less about zombies than story and characters).

For me at least, the outline is too thick - and too even - to work as a shadow, not least because there are actual shadows in the scene that suggest the light is coming from somewhere else. One other thing: the Wilma/Betty hybrid in the earlier pic seems to have more depth, mostly due to the slightly lit edges, and this is enhanced by the grain, which makes the character look less flat. Will this one get a similar effect?

They probably won't even give me that courtesy. Their lawyers will probably just drop by my house, and beat me up.

I was just wondering why I've never seen Link fan art anywhere on the internet ever.

First the fanart goes away, then the persons responsible do. I'm taking a big risk here showing you all this...

Seems to be more so of late. AM2R went on just fine all throughout development, then BAM cease and desist. Something tells me that that was due to them not advertising it until it was done though.

Renz, that's pretty awesome, feel very wind-wakery! I see you took some nice artistic liberties, what inspired adding the brown undershirt (windwaker)? And interesting choice with the eyes, looking more Asian than the original generic / vertical ones. Is it because of the Japanese origin and his appearance in newer games?

EDIT: MAde a little time lapse of the office scene

Yak: I made his face look more like Windwaker Link. You could say he's a combination of it, Zelda 3, and the original NES Zelda, which is where the brownish red arms come from.

Aah gotcha, thought so. And I finalized the planning for the last episode of the Interactive Fiction side-gig I was hired to write on.

    Is that the "good" ending?

Well, considering both choices at the end are Cthulu Fhtagn!, I imagine it's the correct ending.

He is our Dark Lord meant to devour humanity, so that is de-facto the correct ending.

He does not devour humanity just yet, though. After all, we need to leave room for a sequel / DLC. How could we milk our audience ceaselessly without it?

    THIS IS MY RIFLE

THERE ARE PROBABLY NOT MANY LIKE IT because I made it myself in Blender and then programmed it in Unity using the open-source VRTK (Virtual Reality Toolkit) to implement grabbing and shooting controls. Pretty standard VR gun stuff, BUT the one unique thing here which I'm proud of is the scope.

It's basically just a video screen connected to a camera which is really far zoomed-in. The end result ends up feeling quite realistic, I even instinctively tilted my head to the side and closed my other eye the first time I tried it. I haven't seen any other VR shooters do sniper rifles yet, but I'm probably not the first to have thought of doing a scope this way. Anyway, very pleased with how well it turned out.
