a clean install should not be necessary - just run TFix again, deselect the mods, and repatch. that will uninstall the mods.

also, step 5 is not necessary with a TFixed install.

not personally - I plan to do it later today. maybe I'll even tweak TFix a bit and push out 1.18 early.

I just tried this with a fresh installation of the GOG-version of Thief Gold (with no additional NewDark patches installed) and so far, it seems to work fine. Amazing work! I didn't think this was going to be released any time soon. It looks truly impressive while staying true to the original look and feel of the game.

    Only three issues I encountered:
    - There seems to be some sort of glitch with Constantine's sword. When I equip it, it appears in the lower left hand corner of the screen and you can't hit anything with it.
    - Crouching through fireplaces seems to be significantly harder (if not downright impossible in some spots) than in the original version
    - Some of the menus look pretty messed up (The "Game" menu for example consists entirely of on- and off-buttons)

at this point, you will probably have to start all over - install the GOG version, and back up dark.gam, cam.cfg, dark.cfg, and cam_ext.cfg. install the hd mod, and copy the backed up files back. that should solve the problems.

//I think cam_mod.ini will have to be tweaked as well. better wait until I have checked the files myself.

Gaaaah, I redownloaded Part2 from mediafire and I still get a "broken" file error message from 7-zip when extracting. Seeing as how it seems to be just that one file, can somebody just send it to me? It's rwall11a.png

Looks truly amazing! Great work, Gecko. So... when does the Thief II pack come out?

So far the only missing texture I've found is that the outside of the giant trees in The Maw of Chaos is entirely blue. Not sure if that's a problem on my end or not (although I've uninstalled everything else).

Other than that there are a few small textures here and there that are still original, which I would expect since this mod is only at 0.8.5. Still, it's amazing how much they stick out. Just goes to show what a big upgrade this is.

And I really like the impression of depth that a lot of textures give. Well done!

So has anyone used config_a or config_b? I was just testing the game without using either. I also added EP and t2skies per Nameless Voice's post from the previous page.

I hacked one of my own, between mine and Gecko's--- For instance, I hate bloom... and i'm also using the latest ep2 (> 400mb version)

So it seems you've made it to RPS's main page, Gecko. Congratulations!

There seems to be a problem with "Escape!". It always defaults to expert difficulty. Even if it's set on normal/hard, the level will be in expert after it is loaded.

By estimation I get about 30 fps (very playable... for Thief) except for annoying hitches when I turn too quickly, or enter a new room.

I got my download from moddb and it still took about 6 hours (moddb's limit, not mine), but it worked fine.

Good news Gecko... you have to remake the cutscenes before you do Thief 2
Also, any tips on how to make enhanced coin stacks, chairs, what have you compatible? How would I get these in from a freshly installed GOG Thief with Gecko's patch? Can I run TFix over Gecko's patch without messing it up?

This happens you don't have the T1 version of NewDark installed properly. Check "T1.7z" in the doc folder of NewDark.

Sounds like Gecko saved the mission with difficulty processing on. (In Dromed you can "process difficulty," which means that a specific difficulty will be loaded when going into gamemode. You aren't supposed to save with this enabled. Not sure if it can be undone after saving the mission in this state.)

El_ : I wouldn't suggest installing TFIX after. You are supposed to install it before installing this hd mod. Adding new objects may require editing cam_mod.ini. But, in simplistic terms, in the old days before using TFIX or Tafferpatcher, you'd just add new models into the thief\obj, and textures into thief\txt16 folder.

I think the GOG installer comes with TFix by default, so it would be impossible for me to install Thief without it. Voodoo47 can clarify. I would like to hear what Chaos did and in what order.

GOG install comes with TFix lite - it should not conflict with the hdmod in any way. but I have to test this to be sure, still downloading the hdmod.

Excellent, that fixed the problem! Thanks!

Just finished the game with the texture patch in place. The only other bugs I encountered were found in the Maw of Chaos. Whenever I looked at the portal at the start, the game would crash instantly. Same thing with Constantine's ceremonial room. Had to finish the game by looking down. Though it might be simply an issue of my PC not being able to handle all that stuff at once, I thought I might mention it.

Again, amazing work! Thanks for this early christmas present!

    Thanks for the stuff Geko!

I installed latest GOG version (2.0.0.46), then t2_v121, then the HD patch.

The menu is messed up and I looked up the T1.7z and it didn't fix, or I have no idea how. Some textures are missing also, the lanterns, the electronic boxes that are near some of the lanterns, the wooden sign plates that hang above doors and some wall textures pieces are old. The sword and blackjack are missing the texture in the inventory (plain white).

I also can't miss the Tfix improvements, such as the better models and meshes and object textures.

How do I handle all this?

To fix some problems with bush and skin textures you have to add the following two lines to the dark.cfg file:

    ObjTextures16
    MeshTextures16
This will fix your weapons and a few other problems. For TFix, did you uncheck all the mods before installing newdark/widescreen? Menus are pretty messed up for me too but I've learned to live with it. I just want stacks of coins and objects to be HD too.
