    Arx Fatalis will Not Launch

Hello everyone this is my first post here on TTLG forums and I am glad I found you folks! I need some technical help with Arx Fatalis so i hope it is ok to post here.

I purchased and downloaded Arx Fatlais a couple months ago from GOG. I installed it and it played fine..... I decided to uninstall it because the newest drivers from Nvidia caused the video to become distorted on Arx Fatalis and many of my other old games.....(everything was like pink and green psycodelic colors)...................Then I decided to roll back the new drivers and install the old ones and voila all the games look great and play great again..............I then reinstalled Arx Fatalis and it will not start up..... When I click on the exe or the icon shortcut the little circle next to the mouse pointer starts spinning and then quits and nothing happens at all.............. I did a ctrl/alt/del and can see the game running in the program manager and all i can do is stop the process.

I have a Windows 7 64 bit operating system /w/Nvidia Geforce GTX 580 video card and a Creative Titanium sound card........... I have tryed all the compatability options but nothing seems to help...... I really am at my wits end with this.......... I hope someone somewhere might have a solution for me............ Thanks!!!

This may not help, but check the short cut path. One of the patches messes it up. This could be the problem!

If the process is seen to be running, it seems unlikely to be an issue with the path. But as it's the GOG version, patches probably aren't a concern? (the final official patch post-dates the GOG release... did they update their installer to match, or is that patch still required?)

And have you already asked for help in the GOG forums? I think most of us here bought the game when it first came out and the likes of 64-bit Windows 7 were not a concern, so I would suspect you'll get better success over there when it comes to modern compatibility issues.

edit: Ah, I see you have asked there too, and everything I was thinking of has been covered.

I purchased Arx again through GOG about 1 month ago and it is sporting v1.21. The easiest way to check if you have the latest version (as you can't fire up the game) is to take a look in your main Arx install folder and take a look and see that there is a file called Arx-patch_r1.21.txt.
