Play your way. What a novel idea!
Thanks for the heads up Digi. I pay next to no attention to what's happening with modern games so I rely on threads like this.

Arkane Studios and founder Raf Colantonio have made memorable games in the past (Arx Fatalis, Dark Messiah of Might & Magic) that ultimately suffered from a lack of publisher support. Bethesda Softworks believes in their vision and is giving them all the time, money, and development help (regular meetings with guys like The Elder Scrolls' Todd Howard don't make your game worse) they need. Harvey Smith, one of the main minds behind the first two Deus Ex games and a legendary veteran of game development, shares the vision and is on board as Dishonored's co-creative director along with Colantonio. Viktor Antonov designed Half-Life 2's iconic City 17 and is lending his talents to Dishonored's world. This is a perfect storm for creating a game that shatters the mold that first-person action games have built for themselves in the mainstream.
We've seen the game running, and now we share Colantonio and Smith's vision too. Dishonored is the antithesis of a edge-of-your-seat roller-coaster ride. It's a game about assassination where you don't have to kill anyone. It's a game about infiltration where you can set up traps and slaughter the entire garrison of an aristocrat's mansion rather than sneak in. It's a game about brutal violence where you can slip in and out of a fortified barracks with nobody ever knowing you were there. It's a game about morality and player choice where the world you create is based on your actions, not navigating conversation trees.
I know alot of taffers stay in the FMs forum and TEG, so spread the word to them too, aye?

Sounds good!
Oh yes, this title sounds rather promising.
+1 on what Slyfoxx posted - all I do is occasionally check out ign.pc.com. Think I'll bookmark that GameInformer site.
Thanx, Digi Dishonoured! sounds like something special.
I shouldn't assume that this is common knowledge: This is the game that Purah and I have been working on.
I think I may have to go spam the other Thief forums... though I may wait until GI has posted some actual content about the game.
How 'bout using signatures to advertise it?
Please no.
Not embarrassing enough?
It sounds promising. Hopefully I will be able to play it once it's released.
Seems like an odd way to "announce" the new game when it's been in the works for so long, and with several industry heavy hitters at the helm. Does Arkane plan on doing any kind of official announcement or press release before (or even after) the GI article is out?
The game does sound promising though, and quite frankly, in this day and age, too good to be true. Welcome to the world of living up to gaming expectations, Dig, at least on a professional level.
The press release is here:

The GI reveal eclipsed it, but that was the plan. Press releases are usually worded rather boring, and often don't get read.
I think I have some experience at trying to live up to an unreasonable level of hype, but yes, it's different this time.
It sounds really interesting, Dan! I've posted a thread on the FM forum for folk who don't usually visit here.
I appreciate that.
And we indeed do have that thing you asked about.
LOL! You had me completely fooled, Digi! I really thought it was Arx Fatalis 2 you and Purah were working on!
Dishonored looks like it's going to be amazing! And yay for a fresh new IP!!
Interesting. The picture is kind of confusing, the game is set in the future?
Excellent news, Dan! I'm happy for you and looking forward to playing it.
Excellent news! It sounds like a great idea, and I'll be hoping to get a first-day release to support you and Purah
Edit - I have posted a thread at GOG Forums, since they sell Arx DRM-free there, just to spread the word. Had to edit the post though as I spelt" Dishonored" with the British English spelling

I never told you anything, Shimon. I just never denied anything you guessed.
I believe the artwork is intentionally obfuscating. It'll all make sense soon.
Great news Dan, this sounds very interesting!
And Shimonhead, he never told me anything either, even when I straight out asked what he was working on!
Good luck with the project Dan, say hi to Purah from me
P.S. Don't let them call it D15h0n0r3D!!
Very intresting indeed! That's how you announce a game, as someone said I am looking forward more to this game then thi4f. Not much of a fan of futuristic settings except for system shock but it might turn out to be an intresting mix of a setting that jeep doesn't look that futuristic to me and also as Saturnine said no 1337-ish placeholder titles .
So that's what you've been up to. Looking forward to hearing more, when the time is right.
Don
http://www.gameinformer.com/games/di...ishonored.aspxDishonored has several major elements that combine to create its unique gameplay: mobility, powers & gadgets, environment, and AI. The trick is that a single power doesn’t just do damage or heal you. You can combine them organically to create interesting effects. Stop time and knock a bunch of stuff off a table in one direction then book it in another, so the guards search for you in the wrong place. Summon a swarm of rats to attack one guard, but possess one of the rats and escape in the chaos. Every problem has as many solutions as you want it to.
So we go from futuristic to...revolvers and swords? Time travel elements then I guess.
