    OpenArx Nemesis - Project Thread

OpenArx Nemesis is a project to port Arx Fatalis to Linux. There should also be some patches / enhancements (better path-finding and others) for the original game. We also plan to make it easier to modificate the game and last but no least we search for bugs in arx fatalis 1.21.

At the moment we rewrite the renderer from directx to opengl and make a fully rewrite of minos (the pathfinder).

the project gets hosted on Sourceforge

if someone has some suggestions/ideas please post it here or make a ticket @ sourceforge.

By the way: sorry for my bad english

Best of luck for your project. What is the current size of your team?

At the moment we have 5 Members ( if someone wishes to help us, please contact )

we have changed our plans a little bit. our plan is to port the 3d-engine to ogre, so we can concentrate on the game specific things and special tools like a level-editor or plugins for levels/models for open source (blender as example).

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that we have also been working on porting Arx Fatalis to linux (called "Arx Libertatis" for now) over at https://github.com/lubosz/ArxFatalis

Among other changes, we have abstracted most of the major subsystems (audio, input, renderer, filesystem) and have a working OpenAL audio backend. (see http://arx.parpg.net/Porting_Arx_Fatalis )

You can find us in #arxfatalis on freenode.

Edit: I forgot to mention that our code already runs under linux using winelib. Using Wine is far from perfect and is only a temporary solution, but Arx Libertatis compiled with winelib runs much better than the original windows binaries under Wine. (mainly due to replacing GDI text rendering with Freetype) We also maintain windows compatibility, so any fixes and improvements will not be exclusive to linux users.
