That's pretty cool. Too bad they went for the "wasteland" Pripyat in the games.
[Edit]Heh, I think you can see the "Apartment housing" and the building you get in for the sniper mission

Truly awesome indeed! Rather scary to see how close the Chernobyl plant actually is to the town. The first time I entered Pripyat in SoC I was blown away by how realistic it appeared compared to actual photos of that city. I agree with Koki though; too bad the devs made all the Stalker maps so desolate - the photos I've seen show that, radiation aside, the area's becoming beautiful forestland again (if not a tad deadly in some areas).
Lol no I wish.
Apparently you are not currently able to visit the zone - some Ukrainian government agency has deemed it to be off-limits. I plan to visit when I am done with uni, so I hope it will be open for tourists again by then
I was checking out websites for tours of the Exclusion Zone and found this one; check out the four videos on this site - those guys are CRAZY! I cringed big-time when one of them crawled out from inside a piece of machinery and there were (highly radioactive) flakes of rust covering his shoulders.

"It is not killing but pretty high"
Nice link Dia - lot of places I've not seen documented before. They actually climb the Duga-3 array!

I knew you'd like that particular vid, Vernon. The whole series is pretty impressive, imo. I lost count of the number of times I said 'o.m.g.' while watching those four videos. I think my favorite part (as in serious 'O.M.G.!!!) was where their geiger counter stops working because the rad levels are off the scale. I was also amazed at how many people still work at the plant; talk about a high-risk job! Glad you liked the link.
man, those guys have some serious cojones.
The view looks awesome.
The Wolves of Chernobyl
Didn't know where to put this. Here seemed good enough.
It's basically a little nature documentary and not particularly sexy. But lots of nice scenery.
That was really cool. Stalker certainly nailed the feel of the real zone.
Yeah, it is cool. The channel tries to hype it up, but it's pretty low key. Radiation isn't as scary and mutating as we once thought. It's almost disappointing.
I did like that the Belorussian wolf guy is a real Strelok type wilderness dude though. And his name's Sidorovich.
While we're posting IRL photos, the sarcophagus thing they have going amazes me.
An article on it said it could fit the statue of liberty inside of it!
Late to the thread, but i enjoyed the panorama a lot! Love to see these soviet era stuff!
