how do I turn off shaking my head while running? couldn't play with such a shaking. In thief gold i could to use variable "bob factor".
I can't access the image from the link you posted - it says "access denied".

There's a tweak like that for T3, but it doesn't work well. I'd guess that for a proper tweak, the animations for Garrett must be changed.
For the happy owners of XP is suitable version 1.1.8
But I still have a number of problems:
- alt-tab is still not working (the game is dragging back)
- the stunned lie in an inverted position
- how to return John P.'s brown frob-light when replacing it with an akven's pack. What to delete?
Such other questions:
- no one is bothered by the crooked location of the words on the buttons (in the center, but at the bottom), and the back button (triangle on a black circle, no, on a black bitten circle, and even at the bottom left)?
- is it possible to stand calmly in the first person, and not stagger?
- When you zoom in, it's like an energy plant turns on in Garrett's head. The fact that there maybe to disable it it's fine (how did the builders even think of such a thing?) But I would like to keep the photozooming sound.
- is it possible, if not to soften the edges of the shadows, then lower their display, for example, through increased transparency?
Thanks to all TweakerCreators![]()
Thanks for confirming it. I've added that info to the first post.
Hmm, it used to work. I guess Windows changed something somewhere. I'll investigate a bit. It does work in (borderless) windowed mode, or press Alt-Enter to switch in and out of fullscreen mode.alt-tab is still not working (the game is dragging back)
Edit: It seems to work when using the supplied local d3d8.dll, converting the game to D3D9. dgVoodoo2 also makes it work.
Not quite sure what you mean, but if you're referring to knocked-out NPCs falling in weird positions, then it's something that would be very hard to fix.the stunned lie in an inverted position
There's 16 textures associated with frob, all named metaselectionfrob_m<number>.dds. Preserving those from JohnP might do the trick. When they're active, they're in Content\T3\PCTextures\DynamicallyLoaded (relative to the textures part of the JohnP modfolder). When disabled, they're moved to a subfolder there named FrobHighlight.how to return John P.'s brown frob-light when replacing it with an akven's pack. What to delete?
Not enough to care.no one is bothered by the crooked location of the words on the buttons (in the center, but at the bottom), and the back button (triangle on a black circle, no, on a black bitten circle, and even at the bottom left)?
Try the "no idle breathing" tweak? (Not quite sure if it's in 1.1.8.)is it possible to stand calmly in the first person, and not stagger?
Try the "no mechanical eye overlay" tweak. When you zoom in, it's like an energy plant turns on in Garrett's head. The fact that there maybe to disable it it's fine (how did the builders even think of such a thing?) But I would like to keep the photozooming sound.
This is also in the 'too hard to even try' department...is it possible, if not to soften the edges of the shadows, then lower their display, for example, through increased transparency?

Wanted to download it yesterday but servers were overloaded on moddb, even mirror was dead. No idea what happened, what other mod was released that ruined everything there. And mirror on dropbox is dead. Today i managed to download the patch and uploaded to my cloud. If anyone ever need, i'll keep it here as lond as i can: https://disk.yandex.ru/d/zdWR-OvdKhIaNg
Thanks - apparently there's been enough traffic that Dropbox thinks I should not have public links anymore... I've added your link to the first post instead.
Alt-Enter good enough. Thanks
Ah, these are the files that corrupted in akven's light version (0 size). When I deleted them, all necessary illumination returned. There's 16 textures associated with frob, all named metaselectionfrob_m<number>.dds. Preserving those from JohnP might do the trick. When they're active, they're in Content\T3\PCTextures\DynamicallyLoaded (relative to the textures part of the JohnP modfolder). When disabled, they're moved to a subfolder there named FrobHighlight.
But even without that, his pack is not compatible with JohnP. Soft does not move files from subfolders (doesn't even rewrite) if there are files with the same name.
Сan then allocate a separate checkbox to the akven's pack?
It would be wonderful to separate two kind of soundTry the "no mechanical eye overlay" tweak.
I'm currently trying to make my own pack.
As I understand it, T3Fix.mlb is a unified .bin file (in terms of first Thiefs) and without much knowledge it is necessary to keep JohnP's line or akven's. For exsample, JohnP's fingers (top right on NPC skin) will not be able to attach to the original texture?
Faced some strange issues. First of all game and menus runs in slow-mo, no idea why. Then I’ve got no sound (but this was even before I installed sneaky) and last thing I’ve got empty check boxes on new game - goals.
There can be only one set of files for each feature. You'll have to figure out yourself how to combine the two texture packs.
I'd like to support it in the tweak tool (but not include the pack itself in the SU). Can't guarantee it will happen, though.Сan then allocate a separate checkbox to the akven's pack?
Ah, you want the zooming sound, but no sound after zooming in? Just make an empty file named mechanicaleye_activate.sch in Sounds\DynamicallyLoaded. You can check the Minimalist Project, which disables both zoom-related sounds. It would be wonderful to separate two kind of sound
Better ask Akven about this...As I understand it, T3Fix.mlb is a unified .bin file (in terms of first Thiefs) and without much knowledge it is necessary to keep JohnP's line or akven's. For exsample, JohnP's fingers (top right on NPC skin) will not be able to attach to the original texture?
Nothing to suggest, unfortunately, except for the usual if you haven't tried it already: Do a proper reboot, then disable all virus checkers and see if things have improved.
For a new game they're supposed to be empty?last thing I’ve got empty check boxes on new game - goals.Or did you mean no checkboxes?
Checkboxes with no text?
You're probably right. In that case it must be the old font scaling bug.
If the fonts mod is enabled, try disabling it. If not, then see if a different resolution or aspect ratio brings back the text.
Guys, honestly, don't know what that was, but i reinstalled thief DS and SU and now everything works fine. Sound is available and no empty checkboxes! Sorry for bothering you.
p.s. despite detailed description i didn't understand that some mods are disabled even if i check boxed them during installation, but now I'm okay.
p.s. minimalistic patch is definitely no go for me.
I bought a new laptop with Windows 11 in February. Today, I re-installed Deadly Shadows and Sneaky Upgrade. Everything went perfectly. I already started playing the next FM.![]()
So Thief 3 works fine under Linux (via Wine/Proton), but I can't get the installer to run under Wine/Litrus. Any advice?
Or is there an alternative method to install it? It would have been nice if it's also available in a zip file or something.
I can say it works since at least Wine 7.x and current Wine 8.8. My (64bit) clean prefix setup has corefonts, tahoma, dotnet48, vb6run and vcrun2013 as the bare minimum. (and well, dxvk, but you never know if a game won't like it)
To do it quickly through commandline, running each dependency one by one to avoid winetricks shenanigans:
A portable installation would be much appreciated, however. It already is a pain to save the registry values of TDS installation to install Sneaky.Code:WINEARCH=win64 WINEPREFIX=~/.winewin7 winecfg WINEPREFIX=~/.winewin7 winetricks corefonts WINEPREFIX=~/.winewin7 winetricks tahoma WINEPREFIX=~/.winewin7 winetricks dotnet48 WINEPREFIX=~/.winewin7 winetricks vb6run WINEPREFIX=~/.winewin7 winetricks vcrun2013
I've never had a problem running the installer on vanilla Wine, as long as the game's registry entries were present. The last version I tried was 8.3, I think.
When you say you can't get it to run, what happens when you try? Do you see a message, or is nothing happening at all?
You can take apart the installer and get to the various components using a tool such as InnoUnp. That's how aerosq made the Arch build script linked to from the first post. Some info was provided from about here.Or is there an alternative method to install it? It would have been nice if it's also available in a zip file or something.
I don't think any of those winetricks additions are necessary for T3/SU.
The next release will support a portable install - although some manual setup will be neededA portable installation would be much appreciated, however. It already is a pain to save the registry values of TDS installation to install Sneaky.
I know, I know. When I retire - just a few decades now.![]()
It is probably answered somewhere but I couldn't find it. How do I stop Steam from updating and checksum validating the game?
If all else fails, try making a copy of the whole game install and add it as a non-Steam game.
