my god, I had forgotten how sprawling this mission was...

from what I've played so far, I think it would have been much stronger without the "defend your hideout" version; playing as an invader and getting lost is understandable, but not if I'm supposed to live down there! there seemed to be more scripted moments to advance the story, and just seemed more thought-out.
    lost, but enjoying it!

I am also experiencing crashes, though, whenever I quit or die.

So far I'm enjoying this mission very much (playing as Guard). I've successfully captured the third guild leader (the optional goal) and I'm now looking for the other two.

    I accidently KOed this guy:

Since he looks kinda special compared to the other thieves: is he one of the leaders?

No, he is just a sbire, a worker. These guys are weapons'seller.

Actually, that mean that there is a secret weapon's den near the area where you have beat this guy.

I saw where it should be, but couldn't find the way in. I've seen several wall panels that might hold secrets, but not their triggers - I was beginning to think it was a T1>T2 conversion quirk. guess I need to look harder

Héhé! Did you think that I'm an amator
a lot of these levers have no effects in Thief Gold. So, now, all levers have an effect!

Maybe you hide something when you frob a lever. By the way, because this secret is hard to find, so, there are no triggers "secret" with it.

I could use some help (playing as "Guard"):

Where can I find the key for Donal's place?

    EDIT

I think I just found another way which got me going again, and I guess I will obtain that key later

Seek for the neutral's key where Donal have flee. And
Look for Magrin's Key inThe Neutral Quarter

What am I supposed to do with the guy wielding a saw-like sword? He is immune against the blackjack, gas mines, and gas arrows. I once lured him out to the streets near Auldale where another guard was waiting near a police station but the two just attacked each other.

More important: the game crashes immediately whenever I kill this guy

Yeah, I think that is an object limit problem with blood, arrow and explosions. The same problem when you can't reload in my 1st version. I was forced to reduce this one, now, it is too short, and the game crash with too many object. But if you reload before beat him, it shall be ok.
Sorry for the disagreament with it, and all trouble.

You have to kill him with your sword or fire arrow.
It CAN crash, but it won't crash ALLTIMES. So, if you reload and try to kill him again, it could be ok. This man is Thom, the fight is inevitable.

This gorram bastard won't die without taking the game with him

I backstabed him with a sword: crash
I killed him with my sword in a fair fight: crash
I blew him up using mines and powder kegs: crash
I sniped him with broadheads: crash
I clubbed him to death using my blackjack: crash

Hell, I can't even drown him since there is no water nearby.

Could you perhaps upload a savegame with this guy already being killed? I'm not keen on spending my whole weekend trying to get rid of him...

    OK I'm stuck !

    Playing as guard.

Where do I find the switch to the den ?
I've spent 2 hours wandering around the tunnels and sewers along with all the bluecoats. The captain is near the door of the Restaurant, but won't speak to me.
I've seen references to a Roulette table switch. There is one with a frobbable wheel, which I've tried lots of times.

    Help would be appreciated.

If you frob the wheel, in the casino, then, the captain shall be teleported near the casino's entrance.
If this thing won't happen, then saddly, you get a bug. Sometimes, these things happen in all fun mission, I get something like that with The Dead of the Winter, for exemple. When the obj limit is high, that things can happen. Thing strange, this bug was never happened into my mission, it is the first time, I hear something like this. Crash when you kill Thom or Magrin yes, but now...

When, you are in front of the captain, sometimes, you have to wait for some second moving, to let him speak. I don't know why. But if you have the objective "Find the switch", then this is a problem. Have you got the ORIGINAL Gen.osm and Convict.osm?

    Thanks for the reply FireMage.

Using the osm files I use for all FMs.
It seems I have a bug. The captain is inside the doors upstairs, near the main door to the street, He won't speak to me even if I wait a long time.
The objective 'find the switch' has not ticked off.

Ok, so, this a passing bug. If you restart, you won't have any return from this bug. Except if your are very unlucky.

And please: This is a COP version and NOT A GUARD version. The Cop is in the street with Truart when guards are sleeping in the manors. A cop know what is a book, ink and paper. A guard just a littlt bit, get it?

Have you play in thief version? no problems?

Does your version of gen.osm match with this version regarding its size and timestamp?

I'm kinda stuck. I'm playing as Guard, and I'm at the workshop under Donal's mansion. I killed Magrin, but don't know how to advance now. I think I need lockpicks for the grate where I saw Rueben run away, but I don't know where to find those. A hint, anyone?

Edit: The ancient ttlg rule of finding something just when you posted is in effect again. If someone else can't find them, the lockpicks are in the room with the big table, in the area with the I-shaped carpet. On my way again!

Edit2: I'm now at a point where I can't play further. As soon as I tell the captain Rueben's address so the cops can go there, the mission crashes. But if I ignore that and kill Thom by myself, the mission crashes too. Too bad, I had fun playing it. =/

I was just around two hours of gameplay when suddenly the mission fails, and not even my previous savegames can prevent the failed goal, i was playing as thief where 80% of the gameplay was slaying and fighting the constant waves of cops, i felt lost in the mission with all the constant chaos, not even in my arena missions i fought so much ...i also had a few crashes when tossing explosive mines, this mission should have been tested and the gameplay should have safe goals in order to prevent failed goals wich you know you weren´t entirely responsible...obviously i´m not going to replay the mission after all the hard work i had fighting the cops and trying to save the arse of the stupid ai creatures called Donald and Reuben wich during the mission they exposed themselfs to much and reacted with buggy behaviours...Oh well at least it was funn to hear my voice as Thief

Do you already have a solution for this problem? I have the same error - its always crashing in the cop version either when telling the address to the captain or when killing Thom or Magrin. No way to win the game!

Does anyone have a save game afer telling the captain about the addresses or short before this event but without the bug happening?

    Need some help please.

    spoiler:
I been all over the place and can't find the other 'boss'. I've found the boss holding a ball? in his hand and sitting in a chair in a room with slashed banners and holes, obviously Garrett's handiwork. But i can't find the other boss to warn him. I can only see one possibly lead here. In one area, there's a slope going down to a gate, but i haven't been able to open it. Beyond the gate it looks like part of the sewer system, but i dont' recall passing this gate on my journeys through the sewer system before, this maybe a different part. Could someone tell me how to open this gate and/or get to the other boss
    Thanks!
