a Collection of High Quality Stuff

[fancy picture missing - someone volunteering?]

For me as a mapper and I bet for lots of other mappers&players the release of v1.19 was like a dream. Even before I tried to use the best stuff possible and looked for high quality objects&textures.
After 1 year (including breaks) I want to share the collection I made up until now and I'm still working on. Here in this thread you will find the latest infos.

    Old (Original post):

In the last moth it became really silent about me and I'm sad to say this will continue

I tried to release some stuff on Christmas, because I couldn't finish it I tried to get it ready on New Year but failed again. Since then I had no time to do anything. So before I'm gone again for three moths and nobody knows something I decided to make this topic in which I will post stuff when I'm back again.

I now I mentioned it a few times there are a few more objects in my Dropbox for example these plants you see in SoulTears screenshots. If you want also access to them send me an email (not PM - I think you won't see me here until march again).

I just started using your trees this weekend and wanted to say thanks a million! They are far and away the best tree models this engine's ever seen (imo). I'll email you for the plant models if it's not too much trouble. I sincerely hope everything is ok in RL!

Ditto, I'm using your wonderful trees in Drymian Codex and love them! I hope things settle down for you soon.

RL is fine, don't worry. I just have some very long workdays currently. - One more week until the stuff is done and then holidays

I think there are some models(plants) with wrong scaling (0.5 to small) but I don't remember which ones so if you find one please write it down so I can correct it very fast.

Hm I don't know why I didn't put this in earlier but now my rowboat is finally inside the Dropbox as well.

For anyone wanting to use Daraan's Tree Pack, you can grab it here.

Daraan, I'll be happy to add other models, also. Don't set a deadline for yourself. It puts too much stress on you, making you very unhappy. A hobby is supposed to be enjoyable.

You got a point there. Normally I take mush longer that I think(and say) and because I'm often a perfectionist (wondering if this is really true) it's a good method to stop me from working.
This project here is (at the moment) planned as an continually updated archive so synchronize your Dropboxes from time to time.

Ah I understood your question wrong I thought you wanted to add new models by yourself into the DropBox. Thats what you and others can do
Since this archive will be growing and growing(especially in the next few days) I think there is not much sense in uploading a copy anywhere else at the moment.

Now stuff arrived just a few minutes ago
For example these fountains with animated water (uses water by vurt)

Those look very impressive, could I ask what other formats these models are available in as I would like to use them in the darkmod.

Have them all saved in .blender or .obj and some 3ds from before the DarkExporter time.

We cant use those directly, but I think .blender and .obj can be converted to .ase or .lwo. which can be imported directly into Darkradiant.

.obj is the most common format so I think your fine with it - if you have an programm with can export to one of these 2 formats.

But I think we should talk about the rest via PM like what you want and which formats exactly. So just PM me.

Can someone mirror these to a file sharing service. Ricebug's link is dead and I don't speak "dropbox".

You know you can put dropbox files into a Public folder and then just give people links to your files, right? Or are you worried about just random strangers downloading your files? Why you don't have the dropbox files linked to on the forum rather than having to email you for the files? I don't mean to be rude and I'll respect you for your decision, I'm just curious.

I just noticed a problem with a conflict between three OM OBJ textures and textures included in these packages:

Mush1.gif, mush2.gif, and mush3.gif are OM textures used in litemush_durabl's fungb2.bin (and maybe elsewhere in other mushrooms)

Mush1.tga, mush2.tga, and mush3.tga are Daraan's textures for various fungi.

Unfortunately they are not drop in replacements for the OM textures, and when NewDark substitutes the tga files for the gif files, litemush_durabl looks like a mess. I don't know where all Daraan uses those tga textures, but I suggest renaming them to Mush4.tga, mush5.tga, and mush6.tga and fixing those bins to refer to the new names.

Yeah, I noticed that to when creating the gamesys for his tree pack. There are some trees who have mushroom-like wedges growing from the trunks. The textures are for those parts of the tree model. Unfortunately, if you throw down some normal shrooms, they'll inherit the same textures.

Since Daraan used Shape/TxtRepl for everything, it would be only a matter of renaming the filenames.

    True.

When my HDD broke at the beginning of this year I lost tons of stuff. I gave it to a friend whose brother works in a company which is also specialized in recovering date. The last time I talked to him (~month ago) he said he didn't have the time to do it yet but he tries to do it until Christmas/new year when we meet again.... hopefully or else its again 400km away

When you have some fitting thiefy textures let me know. I could also take a look into genetica again and try to find some nice textures.

    EDIT:
Best Alternative I could find in my own tex data.

I think the pipes look good the way they are Daraan. In the shadows who is going to really notice?
you have a nice selection of shapes and sizes, thats what matters.

Try this for an extremely rusted look. It tiles in both directions. There is still a faint "weld" mark along the pipes that I looked at with it, as their uv map seems not to be edge to edge. But I think it's OK.
