So they want to tone down the magic and mysticism, but let Garrett keep his artificial eye. I wonder if as a reboot he starts with both his own eyes, and later shows different circumstances for losing an eye than the original did. Because in TDP, the events that lead to him losing his eye were entirely under mystical and magical circumstances. The "person" who plucked it out wasn't exactly an ordinary human.

Another good point, TMC. We need more information.

New to me (sorry if someone already posted it somewhere in here):

We were shown the long-in-development Thief demo at the Game Developers Conference last month, and noted both the game's impressive technology and curious design choices. Footage from the demo was originally intended to be shared with the public, but a source says those plans were recently scrapped due to internal unhappiness with the quality of the captured footage.

Hah. I called every single bit of info that "source" provided the writer.
I wish we could see all the different iterations that the Thief prototype went through.

I was just about to post this related Kotaku article. Not surprising in the least.

In March of this year, the same month as the game's publicity push on the cover of Game Informer magazine, Lead Game Designer Dominic Fleury left the studio.
    ...
The level, which takes place in part inside a brothel, apparently featured "Cinemax-level" sex sequences at one point that some animators were uncomfortable creating.
    ...
Many programming tricks were necessary to run the current demonstration, like turning off non-playable character AI the engine has trouble when too many characters are on screen.
    What a mess

FYI - updated the OP a little bit. All news articles are at the bottom, and are marked and sorted chronologically so you can catch up on anything you've missed out on recently if you want to.

Finally seen the new Thief trailer. They kept some of my sound design at least but I do MUCH prefer my earlier version.
I have no doubt we'd feel the same, guvnor_P!

I hope Paul was able to keep the rights to all the sounds he handcrafted.

Very unlikely. Most work done becomes the IP of the company.

Don't know if this has been uploaded yet or not, but I found it funny. I don't remember the source, unfortunately (some gaming magazine, don't think it was PCgamer). All we can hope for is that this isn't some cruel joke- at this point I can almost see EM doing this.

If you look at the actual augmentations, it's clearly a joke.

Oh hey! We know what's really going on here.

It's the ol' marketing trick of deliberately "leaking" misinformation, so when things seem to have been changed for the better by release, consumers will be blown away with pleasant surprises, and fans will feel smug that they were listened to and made a difference.

    [/sarcasm?]

That's why the media releases have been materials that are two years old or older, and the press demo was so tightly controlled and half-assed and even botched in places.

Did you add that little Q&A from the Eidos forums, perchance? I find it relevant to our interests.
