    Thief Enhancement Pack 2.0 alpha

This project is an effort to improve the quality of the graphics in Thief 2: The Metal Age, and also in Thief: The Dark Project and Thief Gold.
The ultimate goal is to replace all the old, low-quality objects and textures from Thief 1 and 2 with versions that have higher polygon counts and texture resolutions, while keeping as close to the originals as possible.

Version 2.0 includes higher-resolution (512+) versions of many of the EP textures, and also includes a number of improved terrain textures (approximately 22% of all terrain textures have been upgraded).

NewDark (Thief 2 v1.21 or higher) is required

This is an alpha version, meaning that while I've gathered together most of the improved content that has been made while trying to maintain the goal of "the same, but better", this package has not been thoroughly tested. In addition, this pack contains most of NecroBob's "Somewhat Faithful Texture Pack", and some of the replacement textures from there may stray a little too far from the originals.

There is no installer, just the ep2.zip file. Drop it into your Thief installation and add it to the mod_path in cam_mod.ini

    e.g.:

    Code:
    mod_path ep2
    For Thief 1, instead use:

    Code:
    mod_path ep2\thief1+ep2
Alternatively, if you already have v1.0 of the EP installed, you can just rename the ep2.zip to "ep.crf", replacing the one from v1.0.

Download the Thief Enhancement Pack 2.0
    GitHub Repository

(Last updated: 9th of January 2023)
(Note that the mirrors in the posts below are of earlier versions unless otherwise noted.)

    Things to look out for:
Please keep an eye out for terrain textures which are too different from the originals, or are wrongly scaled.
Report issues on the GitHub tracker.

    What's next?
Artists are continuing to contribute textures to the project. I will continue to gather any replacement resources that are given to me, and create a new .zip when enough new textures have been gathered.

    Want to help?
If you want to help contribute to the EP, head over to this thread in The Editor's Guild.
If you're interested in making replacement terrain textures (which is the main thing that the EP still needs), you can also use my terrain textures index to see which textures still need to be made, or to use the comparison tool to compare your work-in-progress with the original textures.

Yes it does look fantastic. Thank you to everyone who participated - downloading now. Are pop-ups new to MediaFire? I don't remember getting one from there before. It wasn't a problem at all, I was just surprised.

It has captchas sometimes. Can't say I've ever seen a pop-up there. Then again, my browser probably blocks them if they are there.

Oops, it looks like I got the scale factor wrong on those tiles.

Not sure if I feel like re-uploading 200MB yet just to fix that, though.

Not as it if looked great in the first place.

It's because the replacement texture has more tiles than the original, which works fine for terrain textures, but not so well when used on an object.
I'll need to adjust the material files.

the stone texture looks slightly off:

also note that the fixed blackjack model will load the texture from TafferPatcher's resource fix pack, and we don't want that, as it's meant for the hipoly version of the blackjack and therefore not compatible (is what I'd like to say, but the truth is that I have botched it somewhere on the way, and the latest version of the fixed blackjack texture only works with the hipoly version of the blackjack as result. no idea why). feel free to drop this texture into ep2.crf\Mesh\Txt16\ to fix this (it's an older version of the mentioned texture which is not yet screwed up).

btw, that new swordhand could really use a model fix as well, it looks pretty bad with all those missing parts. maybe a job for R Soul?

For Thief 1, you need to set the mod_path as follows:

    Code:
    mod_path ep2\thief1+ep2

Not really anything changed. Removed a few too-different textures and fixed a few scale factors (but apparently not all of them)

And the Mediafire link works just fine, the problem is on your end.

Works when I try it. It should revert the torches to the original T1 model.

MediaFire worked when I used it but this is the message now.

The file you attempted to download is an archive that is damaged or possibly encrypted. Free accounts are limited to 10 downloads per week of each file of this type.
Perhaps it's reached the limit for the week?

Hmm the mediafire link worked for me when I downloaded it about 12 hours ago, but now it says :
    Archive Download Blocked

The file you attempted to download is an archive that is damaged or possibly encrypted. Free accounts are limited to 10 downloads per week of each file of this type. The limit for this file has been reached. Since Free accounts are limited to uploading files 200 MB or less, large files frequently must be split into multi-part archives. Our premium accounts can upload files up to 10 GB in size and can download an unlimited number of archives. Account rates start at $5.00 per month.

Still have questions, or think we've made a mistake? Please contact support for further assistance.
Edit : oh well, Nickie posted ahead of me. I didn't even know about this 10 downloads per week limitation.
