I've been playing it, though not sure if I like it as an MMO. Bit early to tell for me, but it certainly has not grabbed me from the very start and made me want to keep playing. I'll probably still pick it up at some point though.
I did a search and couldn't find a thread about this game. I'm surprised. Did I somehow miss it or what? Sorry if there already is a thread.
Anyway, I thought it'd be great to share screenshots of the game, discuss the game in general, etc. Perhaps certain things should be split into different threads, but that's where I'll leave it up to the posters/moderators. So, what do you think?
I'll start by showing off some pics I took while playing the ESO beta, which is happening right now for the weekend. (And yes, it's okay to post about this because they've lifted the NDA.)
Mainly just showing off shots of my character and the area I happened to be in when I hopped on the game. The screenshot with lots of blue is in the very beginning of the game as part of the tutorial area I guess you could say.

Yeah I guess I feel the same way. I read an article some time ago that said something along the lines of the beginning stuff being boring and not all that good, etc but when you get further along at some point it gets better.
I've finished the Nord area and moved on to an Argonian village. Enjoying it a bit more, but now being heavily hit by UI bugs (forcing a reload each time). Up until now all I had encountered was the occasional object I could not interact with (another reload to fix), so all in all I was quite impressed and expected more issues for a beta. At this point I not sure that I want to drop $60 on it. I'd definitely play if it were a free download with monthly subscriptions though. I'm sure I'm kidding myself and will buy it when the launch date is closer.
Ah.
Oh, I should have already mentioned it but I chose the Aldmeri Dominion as my faction. Yesterday I ran into a weird bug. There's a shopkeeper pretty close to the Kenarthi's Roost Wayshrine. Twice yesterday I got stuck where there was nothing on the screen except for my mouse and I could not exit, it was as if I was still in the shopkeeper interface but the UI failed. I had to log out and then log in again.
But my personal feeling is that 14.99 a month is too much to pay for an MMO. I'll try the trial and then cancel. Maybe when I have a more stable income I could revisit it. I guess what I could also do is like play for a month or two and then cancel if I don't want to keep paying 14.99 per month.
On the one hand I understand why they did it (for server costs, paying employees, quality of game) but on the other hand I feel like it's too much and I can actually see it costing them down the road perhaps since people these days seem to want to go for free-to-play. SWTOR had to go free-to-play after doing a sub fee for a while, and I could easily see this happening to ESO.
A few years ago I tried Guilds Wars and I thought it's payment model was a pretty good solution. You pay for a copy of the game (I just did the 'trial' though, so I was already playing for free) and then it's free after that unless you wanna buy cosmetics or whatever IIRC.
Yeah, I still play Guild Wars 2 and have no problem paying for a game that does not require subscriptions (as an MMO this is still my favorite by far). SWTOR I bought when it was first released which is why I think I'm a little hesitant about buying Elder Scrolls Online. I'm quite happy to drop $15 a month on subscriptions as I usually play them pretty heavily for a couple of months and then cancel again when I move on to something else. I recently done this again with Star Wars and ran through with a new character.
The UI bug you mentioned with the traders is what I had happen today. Seemed to be fine if I use the keyboard to exit out, but would screw up if I clicked the button instead.
oh, using the keyboard huh? I'll have to try that out, thanks.
Played more today and actually was able to play with a friend. We got into a group, but apparently the game still treats quests as separate. I don't know if there's a way to change that or what, but we tried to work on a quest about the same time.
I've got a few more screenies to share:
I forget what the top left picture is from. Top right is at a plantation. Bottom left is near the Khenarthi's Roost Wayshrine.
The Wayshrine is actually up those stairs and to the right. Bottom right is a night shot taken while going into a town called Mistral.
I like how if you can't find your friend or you just simply want to meet up real fast you can right click his or her nickname in your friends list window and choose the teleport to player option. Doesn't actually put you right next to them, but it teleports you to the nearest wayshrine I guess. Or at least, that's what it did for me.
In fact, that picture I have that shows the wayshrine area was when we were trying to find each other. Apparently you can be on different servers (or is it 'worlds' ?) because there was more than one occasion where we logged in and one of us wasn't there. That is, neither of us actually left the area, but we just happened to log into different servers. Logging out and back in again seemed to fix that. (Note: there was no way to choose a server that I saw, all I ever do to log in is hit the Play button.)
I feel like the game is somewhat interesting, but I'm not super drawn to it I guess. I really just need a lot more quality time with it. I do reallly like the art and the world is very nice.

After three months of playing, ESO gets a thumbs up.
Group Dungeons can get intense.
Forming the group to go in can be fun.
ESO does get better and better the deeper you get into it and discover what's in it that you never knew about.
