Nifty! Thank you, Terry!
While this has been on my site for some time, it's never been announced. I've patched and "installed" T2X, saving players the hassle of having to use the included installer and mucking around with folders and patching it via T2xFix. You can D/L it HERE.
Just drop it into your FMs folder and load it up via FMSel or DarkLoader, just like any other FM.
Nifty! Thank you, Terry!
Nice!
This will be a time saver.
i cant get link to even connect,so i think it timed out?

Klatremus' Supreme Thief Site - Walkthroughs, Loot Lists & Ghost Reports
Let's Supreme Ghost Thief - YouTube Channel with Thief Let's Plays
It's now downloading
I just fired this up to try it out and it works great. Well done, Terry!
Awesome
Thank you for this
Good idea, Terry! Thanks!![]()
Nice idea!
I have a few questions, though:
I would have imagined to have all obsolete files to be removed, which only cause trouble, since the regular settings and tweaks in the players Thief installation itself are ignored.
That makes it impossible to really use that FM like any other FM, since one has to do the tweaking all over again.
One thing you did in order to compensate for that was to add EP.crf?
I would say: drop all this and T2X will really work just like any other FM:
And you are already set !darkinst.cfg
cam.cfg
cam_ext.cfg
dark.cfg
EP.crf (wasn't included by the T2X team anyway)
dark.bnd
user.bnd
user.cfg
motiondb.bin (identical with original thief anyway)
LGVID.AX
codec\
SAVES\
And the players settings (video, key-bindings, ...) and mods will work as for any other mission and do not need to be adjusted just in order to play T2X.
But please keep t2x.exe as a sweet memory, although it doesn't work anyway.![]()

If I understand well, you mean to unzip the file and delete all the files you mention and zip it again and only then play it as a regular FM ?
You may be able to just delete the offending files from the archive itself with modern file compression tools, but yes the idea is to run it as a FM (this is what it is, after all) because of the fact that the t2x.exe launcher doesn't work on modern systems. Using FMsel is preferred as well as it will use NewDark's loading capabilities to try to make sure there are as few file conflicts as possible.
Right, you can open the ZIP with any reasonable program and just delete the files and folders I mentioned.
And then install the stripped down version.
T2X required it's own config files, because it used to be installed in a different folder than your Thief folder.
Now that T2X is available as a regular mission ZIP, there is absolutely no reason to have them around anymore and to cause hazzle.
With these files present, one has to do all the configuration and tweaking all over again.
They contain nothing that would be special for T2X and can be safely removed.

I'll do what you suggest, since it makes perfect sense. I didn't add the EP.crf, my copy already came with it. But hey! Deleting that will certainly reduce the file size.
My DSL upload speed is horrible, thanks to everyone in the apartment building watching YouTube videos and NetFlix (we're on a DSL trunk). And T2X is a huge freaking file. Gimme a day or so.
Uh-oh... I think my wife is getting out of bed. And yes! She's checking YouTube!!!
I linked this in the Links thread some time ago. If you're removing the EP, could you let me know if I need to change the link.
OK. It's fixed. Unnecessary files removed. Same link.
Thanks for your work, guys!![]()
awesomesauce! Thanks Ricebug.
Thanks for taking the fiddling out of TX2. I'm getting too old - whether it is loss of patience, or priority - everything has become now subject to this thin line of philosophy - it is awfully good of you to provide the revamped and very much appreciated Walkthroughs and now the TX2 business, which I have avoided thinking about replaying until now.
Unfortunately there is no readme describing what changes had been done - or by whom.
But as I can see right now, you used a version that was patched with Vodoo47's TFix for T2X v.1d (which includes my corrections on the books).
TFix for T2X is also where the EP.crf came from.
Thank you so much![]()
as mentioned before, T2xFix is a bit of a mess, usable enough but far from perfect. EP1 is included, as even T2x benefits from some of the updated objects. of course, it's redundant if one is using EP2.
