It feels somehow weird that they're using the same protagonist.
Hell to the yes, gonna pre-order the shit out of the Collector's Edition as soon as it's announced.

Set in 2029, two years after the events of Human Revolution, Adam Jensen returns and joins forces with an Interpol-funded task force aiming to hunt down and capture augmented terrorists in a world that now hates and fears transhumans. Jensen has a new suite of augmentations that allow him to cleverly navigate stealth, combat, and social interactions, but how Jensen chooses to solve every problem is entirely up to you.
At the end of Human Revolution, the Illuminati caused every transhuman to go into a fight-or-flight response and attack anyone near them. In the next issue of Game Informer, you can find out how this event caused humanity to hate and fear those with augmentations. We spent two days in Eidos-Montreal's studio, talking with the team and learning about how they build a realistic future. We go in depth on some of Jensen's new augmentations that help improve the stealth and combat systems, such as the ability to remote hack electronic objects, fire off his nano blade from a distance, and surround himself with a nearly indestructible nanoshield. We also got some great examples on how the game will be as open ended as ever, allowing players to carve their own path through the world. You can only get these details in the latest issue of Game Informer.
It feels somehow weird that they're using the same protagonist.
I like the plot setup, and there are some really nice shots in that teaser trailer.
A bunch of screens (or maybe concept art) has leaked as well.
edit: and also Square Enix has put up a live stream of a guy in a room and in nine and a half hours SOMETHING is gonna happen! http://www.twitch.tv/cantkillprogress What's it gonna be? Maybe something good? Maaaaaybe something bad? I guess we'll NEVER KNOW!
Unless we wait for nine and a half hours and then check in again.

I'd certainly be interested in picking up Game Informer for this but I don't think we get it over here. It is a US-only magazine, right?
A new DX game announced and a Ren & Stimpy reference in one place. This thread is Dema approved.![]()
This news just made my month! Thanks for sharing, Eva!![]()

Loving what I've seen and read so far. Prague was one of the locations I always wanted to see in a DX game!
EDIT: also, some more screenshots here: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost...postcount=1514

So far I like how the game looks, but I particularly like these two screenshots:
Also, biocells are back.
Official trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2kd7F3YFz8
Initial thoughts:
-Returning protagonist feels weird.
-Plot sounds like Deus X-men.
-Terrorist attack focus also reminds of Invisible War.
-Looks fighty... VERY fighty, in ways beyond HR. But then again, there's no gameplay in this video, so let's hope they didn't alter the focus.
-Engine is apparently based on the Glacier 2 engine from Hitman Absolution
-Pre-order is up already... launched simultaneously with the game announcement and first trailer, before a date is announced or gameplay videos are released. Seems a bit premature...

Oh man that trailer looks good and holy shit look at all those new augmentations!
I compared the credits listed at the end with the credits of DXHR and it seems to be all the same people, at least those in key roles. So... we can probably expect more of the same! Which I'm more than fine with. Hopefully the team can expand on what the first game did in some interesting ways.![]()
This made my day.
I really like the screenie labeled BLADERUNNER in the RPS article. I hope we get that in the game.
Any speculation on the release date? I'm guessing late 2015.
The DX:HR trailer was similar, lots of shooting, stabbing, explosions etc. but the gameplay was very balanced. I think it's just easier to make an eye-catching trailer like this than to have Adam crouching behind a crate for 5 minutes while waiting for a guard to turn his back.
I went back and watched the gameplay trailers for Deus Ex and Deus Ex:Invisible War hoping to make some kind of point. Holy cripes. Scenes of waiting for progress bars. Points for honesty, I guess.
EDIT: "The year is 2029." I hope that's the setting and not the release date, lol.

Aside from heavy X-men overtones, the narrative is looking to be shades of grey to me. You see a cyborg boy that Jensen saves from tyrannical "racist" cops, but later he's shown to have become a terrorist who's bombing the innocent. THAT is how RPGs should be written, because real life isn't black and white either.
Reminds me of the excellent New Caprica arc from Battlestar Galactica.
Just make the gold bling bling filter optional this time and I am so on board.<<< smiley with augmented vision
DX:MD will be powered by DX12! Low level access for increased optimisation and performance! The future is looking bright for PC gaming.![]()
Summary of the Game Informer article. Nice, "Task Force 29" is probably precursor of UNATCO, i.e. what the OSS was to the CIA.

Thanks for the details. Unfortunately, they dampened my enthusiasm.
This I like:
- Added a lot of diversity to the environments
- Shops line the streets, temporary housing units stacked on one another reaching upwards toward the sky; claustrophobic atmosphere
- Side quests meant to be more meaningful; ex. players can choose to make deals with criminal organizations and its mob boss might call in a favor later interrupting main missions
- Doesn't want fetch quests, the team sees the extra quests as a way to explore the main themes of the game more deeply
- Variety of enemies have a diversity of weapons, augments, or other high-tech combat tools, some have high-jump abilities, etc
- Focused on making A.I. more aggressive, flanking, etc
- Certain elements of the environment now react to combat
This I'm not sure about:
- Eidos won't comment on which ending it considers canon but is trying to string together different parts of each ending for the overall background of Mankind Divided
- Boss encounters are designed in a way to allow players to approach any way they want (stealth, full combat, etc)
- Jensen doesn't full trust Task Force 29, also feeds intel to another covert organization called the Juggernaut Collective
- In true Deus Ex fashion, you often receive conflicting missions, neither can be fully trusted
The last two bullets sound a little bit like the WTO vs. The Order.
Also,
- Eidos noted fans who played stealthily enjoyed the game more so spent several years iterating on gunplay
I hope they aren't learning the wrong lesson from that.
This I don't like:
- Features twice as many augmentations as Human Revolution
- Jensen can adjust his weapons at any point mid-battle, changing ammo type, firing pattern, scopes, etc
And this just sucks balls:
- Mankind Divided's moment-to-moment action plays out like a series of set-piece moments, a 'remarkable feat' considering nothing is scripted
"Set-piece" action is a deal-killer. This shit is what caused me not to buy Thief 4 or any of the Bioshock sequels. And it's the antithesis of Deus Ex.
Just an thought on release date - the Game Informer article for Thief came out in April 2013, and the game was released in February 2014. So 10 months. That would put DX4 at a January 2016 release. And maybe they'll try to push it a bit and get it out by Xmas 2015.
Gotta remember that DXHR came out in August 2011 - all those folks must have been working on something over the past four years.
