So, here's a crazy lore theory from me: Rosaria is actually a malfunctioning illusion of Gwynevere

Here's how I think it goes down:

    spoiler:
    - the original Gwynevere leaves to marry Flann

    - Gwyndolin sets up the illusion too keep Anor Londo going

    - the illusion eventually gets married off to Oceiros

    - somehow, Oceiros is able to father children with the illusion, all naturally imperfect because duh

    - this puts a huge strain on Gwyndolin

    - the Gwynevere illusion becomes impossible to maintain, and, after giving birth to Ocelotte, devolves into Rosaria

    - the queen "disappears" to avoid a scandal, Oceiros goes full bonkers and is deposed

    - Rosaria is actually imprisoned in the Cathedral of the Deep, Sulyvahn figures out what's happened

    - Gwyndolin is now ill and weakened enough for Sulyvahn to imprison

    - Gwyndolin is fed to Aldrich

    - Rosaria remains, her soul a faint, distorted thing

I beat Pontiff on my second attempt though, with help, with little difficulty.

That is strange. After beating him on my second attempt I defeated him at least 3-4 times afterwards, helping others, and always facing off against his purple people eater clone.
The dancer majorly pissed me off. By the 12th try I had my second fight where I got him within about two hits of dying, only to be insta-killed. At that point I decided my time was more important than my pride and summoned some help....lasted all of about 30 seconds at that point.

You've now allowed yourself the option to choose between light the fire/age of dark, but haven't screwed yourself in any way whatsoever.
As it turns out, I got the ending where you summon the Firekeeper after killing Cinder but after killing her unintentionally (I was tapping the attack button while watching the FMV) ended up with the "bad guy" ending. Having now read through a summary of the 4 possible endings I realise that I never actually encountered Yoel. While I thought that I had explored almost every nook and cranny on my first playthrough, I've just reached Yoel on NG+ and also came across the Pyromancer trainer nearby in the Undead Settlement who I had also completely missed.

I found Yoel, but never talked to him until way later in the game, which, by that point, he had long since died. So far, I've pretty much done everything I need to do to get the best ending.

So, anybody on PC doing any trading or willing to help me move some items to a new character? Don't really feel like trying the DLC on NG++ for the first run.

You're over in Australia, right? Depending on what time you want to do it, I might be able to help.

I must be thinking of that other guy, then. You know, he had that van...

Anyway, I should be free to go around 9-10ish. Though I'm not sure how we'll do this, since our soul levels will probably be too great to allow connecting to a new character.

From what I understand, passworded games ignore level and item range limits, scaling players to the host instead

I'll help too if needed. You can find me in any of the ttlg steam groups.

By the way I finished my second playthrough with the STR/VIT character trying to solo all bosses. With this char I upgraded both heavy weapons and heavy shields. The Dragonslayer I killed by two handing a zwei and rolling. That boss is fun to fight like this, apart from the artillery barrages in the second phase.

For the Twins and the final boss however, I used the Black Iron Greatshield and Kirk's sword. They were just too fast for me to dodge reliably (and the princes disoriented me with the teleporting quite often), so I switched to this shield strat. You can't just shield tank everything in this game, shield's are much weaker than before, but a playstyle that combined blocking and dodging (I fastrolled with this setup) increased my chances of survival. That, and the bleed from the sword was very useful. I was a bit sad that a longsword pretty much outclassed all my heavy weapons, but at least I could use the heavy shield to justify my build.

I used the same tactic for the Nameless King, except for him I used the Dragonslayer Shield, which with its 95% lightning block was massively useful. It was still a pretty close one when I eventually won.

aaaand I summoned for Champion Gundyr. Tried both tactics (heavy weapon + dodging, and shield + light weapon) but my patience just ran out on that fight. Hardest boss in the game confirmed.

    Ah, gotcha.

I'll still be playing tonight, but it'll probably be later than I originally thought. I have to travel 30 miles up the road tonight around 6ish to do stupid irl olol crap. It won't be much later, but I probably won't make it back quite by 9.

Okay, gonna toss down a red sign in the tower on the wall bonfire on the broken stairs there, password ttlg . That's with the old guy. The new guy is only that far so afterwards you can toss a white sign in the same place. Edit: Looks like no luck tonight. Maybe got my time zones wrong. Probably easier to go looking for a steam group anyway, but thanks for trying!

For those of you who have posted your gameplay videos on YouTube, what have you been using to record them? I've tried using the windows 10 gamebar but it doesn't load.

I'm attempting to solo all bosses on NG+ and want to record my progress.

I've been using Nvidia Shadowplay, packed up in the Geforce Experience suite. It's probably one of the most straightforward and easy to use recording apps I've come across. The only downside is that it's, obviously, only available for Nvidia cards.

The quality of output is excellent, lossless image quality, and 60FPS. Though if you decide to use it, and set it to best quality (like I do), keep some hard drive space spare. The files it produces are about 330 meg for every minute.

Phatose: what's your nick on Steam? I was around, but didn't have any way of contacting you directly.

Thanks Renz. The options for Shadowplay are all grayed out for some reason. I've got a 970 so there shouldn't be any issues with it...

You've got the same card I do, so yeah, you've got it.

This is probably due to the fact that the way you turn it on is a bit convoluted. You have two separate tabs for all the various Shadowplay settings from inside the Experience UI. You click on the button on the far right, next to the Log In button. That'll pop up a small window with a giant switch, and a few options for quality. Clicking the switch doesn't start recording like you think it would, rather it primes the application for use.

Once it's up, you'll see a little white circle in a grey tab along the bottom right corner of the screen while ingame. Hit the appropriate keyboard shortcut, that little white circle will display a green dot inside of it, and you're recording.

I recently had a problem getting ShadowPlay working as well. It turned out I needed a bunch of nvidia services enabled and running for it to work. I had disabled the following services because I didn't think I'd need them, but turning them back on re-enabled ShadowPlay for me:

    NVIDIA Stereoscopic 3D Driver Service
    NVIDIA Streamer Network Service
    NVIDIA Streamer Service

I don't use or need Stereoscopic 3D, and the descriptions for the those second two services indicate they're for SHIELD streaming, which I don't use or need. But when they're disabled, they grayed-out all ShadowPlay options in GeForce Experience. Go figure.

Thanks for the tips but it doesn't seem to be either of those solutions -- those services are already enabled and clicking on the switch button doesn't work for me. I'm not logged in as an administrator so it might have something to do with that as I can only run the program using "run as administrator".

Anyway, I managed to use Windows Game DVR to record the following video of me soloing the Abyss Watchers on NG+, albeit without sound. I made a few bad mistakes during the first half but managed to survive and redeemed myself in the second half.

    Damn. You tore him up!

To get back on the topic of recording, Bandicam is pretty decent and easy to use from what I've seen. The only caveat is that the free version is limited to 30FPS, and prominently displays BANDICAM at the top center of the screen.

Registering it only costs $40, though. It might be worth considering if you plan on using it a bit.

You can also record with Open Broadcasting Software. You can record with it directly, or record continuously into memory to save it when something interesting happens. It's free, but setting it up might take some time. I use it, but I don't record often since my PC is not good enough for that.

Took me a while to get into this game. The change in pace and what feels like increased difficulty versus DkS1 was a barrier (possibly I just got a bit rusty). I'm really enjoying it now though. The only boss I managed to solo so far was Deacons and this was pretty easy with high fire def armour and a +2 Hollowslayer Greatsword. Now I'm dicking around in the Farron keep. Which seems to be very reminiscent of the Blight Town swamp so far.

I agree. There's a widely circulating opinion that DS3 is the easiest Souls game yet, but I found it the hardest, maybe due to it being the fastest except BB. And those bosses, Jesus!

Heh, I found the bosses quite easy, but the regular enemies more difficult. Probably has to do with my sword & board playstyle. I'm used to mostly dodging bosses by now, but I still tend to fall back on my shield when I'm facing regular enemies, which is not the wisest thing to do in this game. I still think they should bring back regular poise, mind you, even if it's halved or sth. Even on my SL1 playthrough of Dark Souls 1, I still relied on that a lot.

And here's my latest video effort, clearing out the clergy solo on ng+. See, I just knew that church was bad for me...
