Just got back into playing this again after a short break and took care of another boss.

I wonder if the "angels" are what's left of the moonlight butterflies that were created by Seath. The boss soul description seems to be implying this at least.

I'm still curious as to why on this cycle do the Lords of Cinder rise and we are now unkindled.

    Hmmm...

I always thought they were the end result of whatever process caused some undead to merge with the trees down in the High Wall of Lothric

Dragonslayer Armour's a tough boss for sure. The first half is straightforward enough but once those flying things start belting down fireballs combined with his railing smashing sweeps, I must have died trying at least 10 times on my NG playthrough as well. I had tried to summon but when it worked they would get stuck behind the fog wall; I ended up finding an AI one in one of the nearby rooms before the fog gate however who lasted long enough into the battle to help me win it. I'm looking forward to see how I fare against him solo on NG+ as I've been finding the other bosses to be much easier this time, managing to kill all of them on my first try.

Just took down High Lord Wolnir but died seconds later from his dark magic attack. No sound again unfortunately.

I think it's time to get a new controller though as the L2 & L1 buttons are becoming unresponsive at times resulting in my character stammering in the middle of battle. Hoping that the Steam controller gets released in Australia soon.

I decided to be one of those cool guys who post gameplay videos here, so I recorded my NG+ Abyss Watchers fight, featuring about one terrible mistake per ten seconds. I won though, so in the end it's all good. Managed to upload it in a good quality (IMO) after about a day of experimenting. You'll have to manually set it to 720p or 1080p though - the embed defaults to 360.

I co-op'd with Malleus before he was cool.

Pretty happy with the way this battle against Aldrich turned out. When I fought him on NG, I found him one of the nastiest bosses in the game, particularly his devastating arrow shower.
    Finally got sound working.

That was probably the most vicious beatdown I've seen on Aldrich yet. Good job.

Ugh, Farron Keep is a nasty level. Makes me nostalgic for Blight Town.

The sword that I'm using is a little slow off the mark but it works well with the style that I've become most comfortable with in Dark Souls, prioritizing dexterity & strength and maintaining them close to parity. And I've also found DS3 to be easier to progress with light armour, far more so than the first two. Heavy armour seems to be more of a detriment in general from my experience.

I just killed Aldritch too on NG+. Switched to pyro this time since he's weak to fire. I think my caster build is shaping up nicely, as far as damage goes. It's about time though, lol.

Huge amounts of damage! I didn't realise how powerful Pyro is.

Not bad. The boss fight is almost easier than getting to the boss fight is. It's a long endurance slog to reach them and every run through I've done as a phantom the host gets sloppy at some point and wastes a few estus uses along the way.

Also check your weapons post-update. I got somewhat lucky because my entire build is based around the Moonlight Greatsword (high STR/INT) and I was expecting a massive nerf. I've been gone for a few weeks so I don't remember exactly how much it was dishing out but the damage seems to be more or less the same.

It's not. In sharp contrast to the previous game, pyromancies are not all that powerful until you've invested heavily in upgrades to your flame. Not 100% sure yet but there also seems to be much stronger stat-scaling on pyromancies.

That said 1.07 has been great for casters. It lowered FP requirements for sorceries enough that they're viable for PVE play.

Also I'm free. If you see me online (current Steam ID is "The Ad Council", as a joke) feel free to hit me up if anyone needs help. I'm just at the beginning of NG+ but shouldn't take too long to get further into it.

Could be worse. I died right as the storm king boss did....resulting in a loss of 150k+ souls in the boss arena, which is not accessible after the fight ends.

I forgot that Siegwald of Caterina joins in the battle against Yhorm if you rescue him from jail, which has now thwarted my mission to solo all of the DS3 bosses. It's probably just as well in a way, as it is a fairly boring fight -- as mentioned before, the combination of his high HP and slow and predictable moveset make this more a victory of endurance than anything else.

Still not sure why the player gets teleported to the Dancer straight after Yhorm though? I ended up chickening out of the dancer battle straight after that, as it was getting late (noticed faetal at the end of the video incidentally which reminded me of what time it was).

    Noticed me?

In other news, Abyss Watchers done (with help) - cool fight, reminiscent of Artorius in a way. Now I'm dicking around in the catacombs. Is there an area of this game which doesn't pay homage to DkS1?

Also, does anyone else lay down a white sign by default at bonfires? I've found it's a great way to test out an area while farming souls. Means my soul loss in exploration is drastically reduced and I get to do things like stock up on arrows, firebombs, moss, titante shards etc... without having to do repetitive farming. The only downside being that sometimes I fight the boss as a phantom before I do it for real, and almost always the host skips the boss intro sequence.

I'm currently switching between Fire estoc +5, Deep axe +2 or Hollowslayer greatsword +3 (or maybe 2, I forget) wearing primarily the full armour of thorns which is great for interrupting attack animations with rolls. I switch armour for resistance based on anything too non-physical I know is on the horizon.

This reminds me that I still haven't managed to let him out (I did save Karla though). Maybe I should go back and check if he's still alive? While in the area I never managed to find the entrance to his cell. I did manage to get into the place just above the cell with the invisible jailers but I didn't find a way down from there.

Yes, "faetal is online playing DS3" appeared shortly after killing off Yhorm.

I just beat the Dancer of the Boreal Valley solo but unfortunately it didn't record. Although that tends to happen with Game DVR as nothing appears on the screen to inform you if recording has started after pressing Win+Alt+R -- you just have to hope for the best. I didn't find her as difficult this time as I was a lot more patient in the second phase, getting in a a couple of quick booty hits and running for cover behind a pillar until she finishes her twirly-whirly attack.

You have to go to the the roof of that Church on top of the poison moat where you fight that sorcerer and do a running jump from the roof to a small hallway over the stairs.

AFAIK Siegard dies easily in the fight, so you just have to wait until he is killed, then homeward out and you can solo Yhorm.

Also, I found that the only (or at least on of the) reliable way of taking down Yhorm without the stormruler is with magic, since the tracking of spells make it easy to achieve headshots. He staggers after a few of those, and in the staggered state he takes massive damage. Took him down this way. I tried the same with crossbows on a different character earlier, but it's so hard to headshot him with that, that I ran out of bolts halfway into the fight.

I also took down Dancer purely with magic, which was a bit trickier, since some of her attacks has massive range. You can never count on outranging her, not even with spells, but my DPS won in the end. Both of these took a few tries, of course.

Thanks for the hint. I placed a message there to help other players find it as well.

Also beat this boss on my first attempt:

Epic. He's easily the hardest boss for me in the game, never soloed him.

Dragonslayer Armour NG+. My caster build is definitely shaping up. I got really good RNG this time though (it was the second attempt).
