You know, if you approached this from a different angle, arguing a more netural "yeah, it's tragic, but they're not our responsibility" angle, rather than trying to paint a group of people who have traditionally been shit upon by everyone else in the Middle East, and are currently getting their homes blown up by Turkish military as the real terrorists, you wouldn't come across as such a big cunt.

ThatS just it. No real way to paint them since we donít know wtf things will evolve into. In order for them to stablish their own area they need to take it from others , as muchas we may like them ideologically it means one group must fuck another for that to happen. I. Bring up christoper Columbus for the same reason. How do you think the nations that are threatened by the Kurds feel because we armed them?

Like everyone in the Middle East, the Kurds aren't exactly kind, innocent people. They've engaged in their fair share of partisan violence. That's just the way of life for all those people living out in the desert, where old hates still thrive. That said, given their usual stances on political issues, and that they tend to be a relatively more progressive bunch than most of their neighbors, we have no direct reason to assume they'd become the next Al Qaeda or ISIS, both of which they've helped us fight over the years. They've been a pretty stalwart ally in fighting the death to America bunch over there.

But who knows. You could be right. History could vindicate you. Problem is, with all the evidence on hand, with everything considered, your entire argument comes across less as an actual concern, more as an angle you're playing to justify us leaving them in a big, bad lurch.

Obama fucked up by arming them
Trump fucked up by just leaving
The more we are involved the worse shit gets over there. Arm one group and you fuck over the rest , the mast thing that area needs is more guns, we create endless terrorist that RIGHTFULLY HATE OUR STUPID ASSES , endlessly bombing civilians makes them join the fight against US. .

The Kurds have never hated us. The Turks are a NATO ally, and never would've attacked us. If we stayed, things probably would've ended up taking a more peaceful solution.

Edit: after reading up more on our history with them in the region, we've already fucked them over twice before. Guess this is par for the course.

So now Trump said "we" control the oil fields. But the U.S. doesn't control the oil fields. Russia just took major Syrian oil fields.

Not surprising that someone as loose lipped as Trump would betray his real affiliation.

Whose oil fields ? Should we put an American flag on oil fields in sovereign countries now?

2 well since the Kurds joined forces with Assad it should all work out , right?

    3. I am afraid you are correct, still only fucking morons give arms to damn terrorist in the region and then act shocked when things go south.

The European Court of Human Rights and many other international human rights organizations have condemned Turkey for the thousands of human rights abuses. Many judgments are related to systematic executions of Kurdish civilians, torturing, forced displacements, destroyed villages, arbitrary arrests, murdered and disappeared Kurdish journalists, activists and politicians.
    2. The Kurds didn't "join forces" with Assad. They threw themselves at the mercy of Assad, facing genocide. Assad has not really been much more kind to them. They just hope that repercussions from Assad would be less severe than by being "cleaned out" by Turkey. And what choice did they have after their ally stabbed them in the back like this?

    3. As you said, one person's "terrorist" is another person's freedom fighter. And the Kurds are fighting for freedom. The right to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. Ring a bell?

Certainly, there are cases where resistance against government tyranny only results in tragedy. Hungary 56, Czechoslovakia 68, etc. And now Assad has nearly put down the resistance to his brutal regime, with no small help from Russia and Iran. It's not like unarmed resistance has been dealt with any less brutally, though.

But the point remains that none of what's happening would have been necessary. Turkey had already reluctantly agreed to a demilitarised zone along the border and the US was in excellent position to negotiate a settlement for their allies. Guess Lord Dampnut's towers in Istanbul were more important.

Well there you go. Exterminate more than 3/4’s of the ethnic groups there and tell them they get to live rent free and have casinos. Win win right?

So weird watching Mulvaney do the rounds on Chris Wallace et al after having seen his face melt off at the end of the first movie.

I didn't say what the videos show me clearly saying. The leftist media and the Demonrats are claiming what I said wasn't what I said, but what I actually said.

Also, he didn't actually say the words quid pro quo out loud, so it's all fine. Same goes for Lord Dampnut, obviously. Though, of course there would be nothing wrong with it. Happens all the time.

The way I see it, I like to draw a line from Nixon and Agnew to Reagan to Newt Gingrich to Bush Jr to the Tea Party. Seems like a logical progression to me.

First you had massive support for an obvious crook and the Democrats were lambasted as hysterical for pointing out the corruption. Even when push came to shove and the evidence was undeniable, there were still a lot of Republicans who supported Nixon. And both Nixon and Agnew got little more than a slap on the wrist, though there were also people who didn't get so lucky.

Then you had a populist who very openly used a continuation of Nixon's Southern strategy and stayed in office despite Iran-Contra. And once again the investigation was lambasted as a partisan witch hunt. And this time the culprits either received pardons before they even went to trial or they got immunity or a plea bargain deal that got them off with a couple years of probation.

From then on the polarisation was only exacerbated from Gingrich on, where it really started to be not just about winning but about having the other guys fail at any cost. Shutting down the government, blocking any and all legislation, refusing any and all compromise.

You had a short reset with 9/11 when a lot of shell-shocked Democrats basically went along with Republicans and there was a moment of peace in partisan warfare. Bush Jr was made fun of, but he got away with a lot of things, because of the stupefying effect the attack had had on the collective psyche. Suddenly a lot of US citizens were okay with mass surveillance, invasive searches at airports, torture, extrajudicial killings AKA assassinations, indefinite detention, and more. Not to mention the completely bullshit idea of preventative warfare on the flimsiest of excuses.

And then Obama got elected. Oh boy did that make certain people angry, especially the teabaggers. The entire Republican MO at that point had became to destroy any achievements or progress the other party made. Moscow Mitch vowed to make Obama a one term president and held the Supreme Court seat vacant for over a year, even though the nominee was a fairly moderate pick. In his view (and many others like him), Obama getting elected was bad enough to make up for slavery.

I think we need to start putting the blame where the real blame is due: the catholic church.
