As has been Sondland, though that one is not really a loss for the US. Vindman, though...

Even without the drama, Vindman was scheduled to be cycled from the White House to the Pentagon at some point, and that order's still standing, so it's not like the nation has been entirely deprived of his services. He's just getting some unpaid vacation time for a couple of months.

And to add some extra dressing on top of this delicious salad of petulance, the White House also fired Vindman's brother on the same day, giving no reason for his dismissal. He was escorted out shortly afterwards.

The whole thing is just petty as fuck.

Well, obviously he was guilty of being Vindman's brother.

They're twins. We can't expect Trump to be able to tell them apart. If he sees one of them still lurking around his White House, he'll get mad, and take it out on some poor senator.

Time to start the countdown to loyalty tests and purges of government departments.

And while we're at it, I don't want to be accused of disloyalty and arrested at the airport when I visit home, so just for the record here: Hail Trump, comrades! o7 I for one welcome our new invertebrate overlords!

It's already been happening. Just going to happen a bit more publicly now.

    https://foreignpolicy.com/2020/02/05...eo-lana-marks/

Lana Marks is a successful fashion designer and member of U.S. President Donald Trump’s private Mar-a-Lago club in Florida. Though she has no prior diplomatic experience, Marks is also Trump’s ambassador to South Africa, and last month she forced out her second in command, the veteran career foreign service officer David Young.

Multiple current and former officials familiar say issues at the embassy arose over disputed accounts of the ambassador pushing for her son to take on an elevated role with the embassy. A senior embassy official, speaking on condition of anonymity, vehemently denies these claims, calling them “totally inaccurate” and saying Young’s departure was a separate issue.

That is kind of the insidiousness of the Trump presidency, isn't it? We have all these professional people from all these various foreign countries being slammed with such gross ineptitude by he and his administration, they don't know how to respond to it, so it ends up somehow succeeding. It's like "yeah, he came in and started babbling about that time he stuck his dick in an ottoman, and the next thing I know, I've agreed to a 20% tariff on lumber! I can't even say he tricked me, because there's my signature right there, square on the dotted line."

Sure, we're all gonna be screwed when our luck runs out, but until that day comes, holy shit!

Also, it bears worth remembering that all this is just the tip of the fecal iceberg:

...and that's just the part that we know is there.

The thing is, what can we do about the rest? The Democrats could build a case, and Jesus Christ himself could come down from on high, surrounded by a thousand angels, all singing ballads of Trump's guilt in front of the House of Representatives while the Mississippi river mysteriously turns to into fine red wine, and the Senate would still vote along party lines.

They'd probably end up sacrificing Romney to a giant golden calf this go round. Mammon must always be sated.

Nice metaphor-nesting. I like how the bulk of your metaphorical iceberg is still just the tip of another, bigger hyper-iceberg. XD

I don't think succeeding is quite the word you're looking for, when a full third of your farm income in the last year consisted of aid payments. Tariffs may sound beneficial and slapping them on a country may kind of seem like a power move, but they are essentially one of the largest tax increases you have had for decades, effectively wiping out any gains from the tax cuts for the ordinary consumers and then some.

If Jesus Christ came down in the US, he'd be called a communist libtard Democrat and then detained and deported.

As for what you can do... Fight like hell. Organise. Join an Indivisible group. Rally around whoever wins the nomination and support them. Support journalism. Put pressure on the media that doesn't do its job properly. Put pressure on politicians who don't do their jobs properly. Make sure there is a non-trivial political cost involved with letting Lord Dampnut get away. Support and welcome any and all dissenters, no matter their party affiliation. Build a broad coalition to oppose Lord Dampnut. As for what the Democrats can do at the party level, let's just say this Benghazi is just only getting started.

    Well, just a few ideas.

HOW are we supposed to "drain the swamp" IF you only put people with "experience" who are part of the swamp?

Jesus Christ would NOT need money so there would be no reason to call him anything

JK - If you think that your steady stream of distortion, masquerading as humour, is helping make anything better, you are sadly mistaken.

Didn't you get the memo? Wanting more fuel-efficient and less polluting cars and not wanting to subsidise the fossil industry is communism now, apparently. Because unless you give handouts to big businesses and let them do whatever they want, this means you want Soviet-style command economy and totalitarianism.

So venal sycophantic fools who know nothing and can be trained by corporate overlords without any of that nasty prior knowledge of actual governance are a better fit? BRILLIANT!

Also is it good or bad that I don't know what a monody is?

According to Google, it's a song of lament for the dead.
