The simple explanation would be a faulty test or something like that. Reinfection in that short an amount of time would be very strange, from what I gather: https://www.wired.com/story/did-a-wo...are-skeptical/

If reinfection is possible, though, and the immunity doesn't last, that's some bad news for a vaccine.

    Verdict: False
Trump referred to the alleged “politicizing” of the coronavirus by Democrats as “their new hoax.” He did not refer to the coronavirus itself as a hoax. Throughout the speech, Trump reiterates his administration is taking the threat of the coronavirus seriously.
    Fact Check:

Politico appears to misconstrue the subject of the president’s statement, claiming that Trump “tried to cast the global outbreak of the coronavirus as a liberal conspiracy intended to undermine his first term.” But an examination of the video and transcript show Trump actually described Democratic complaints about his handling of the virus threat as “their new hoax.”
“We have exposed the far left’s corruption and defeated their sinister schemes and let’s see what happens in the coming months,” Trump said during the rally. “Let’s watch. Let’s just watch. Very dishonest people. Now the Democrats are politicizing the coronavirus, you know that right? Coronavirus, they’re politicizing it.”
The novel coronavirus, known as COVID-19, has spread from China to 53 other countries, sickening 85,403 people and killing 2,924 others as of Saturday, according to the World Health Organization.
Some Democrats, including former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and former Vice President Joe Biden, have criticized the administration’s response to the outbreak as rudderless and ill-prepared due to Centers for Disease Control and National Institutes of Health budget cuts and leadership by Trump. But The Associated Press called this characterization “distorted” since the agencies haven’t seen loss of funding and have a “playbook to follow for pandemic preparation” regardless of who’s president.

Trump described the so-called “politicizing” of the White House’s response to the disease as what he perceives to be an attempt to undermine his administration, likening it to impeachment and the Mueller investigation. (RELATED: Are There 8 Confirmed Coronavirus Cases In Nashville?)
“They tried anything,” said Trump about a minute after his first mention of the coronavirus. “They tried it over and over. They’d been doing it since you got in. It’s all turning. They lost. It’s all turning. Think of it. Think of it. And this is their new hoax.”
When looking at the entirety of Trump’s remarks, it appears the “new hoax” comment refers to the alleged Democratic “politicizing” of his response to the coronavirus threat – not the coronavirus itself. The Hill, the Daily Beast and Slate, among other outlets, reported that the “hoax” comment was talking about Democratic criticism.
Slate said, “Trump Slams Democrats Over Coronavirus Criticism: ‘This Is Their New Hoax,'” while the Daily Beast posted, “Trump: Democrats’ Coronavirus Criticism A ‘New Hoax.'”
At no point in the rally does Trump directly call the novel coronavirus outbreak a “hoax” or “conspiracy.” In fact, he refers to the respiratory virus as a “public health threat” and reiterates “we have to take it very, very seriously. That’s what we’re doing. We are preparing for the worst.”

"Seriously" when the basic test is @3000$ ?

Man, HERE in Italy the test is free if you got the symptoms but the intensive care units are EXPLODING of bad cases.
We don't know if we can handle all the bad cases! They're growing too much in some days!

How do you think USA can handle a threat like this? And the pneumonia is a direct form of pneumonia.
It's like SARS, less lethal but on global scale!

Medical staff too is affected (10%!)!

This can be worse than a nuclear warhead.

It is Monday morning, how can Trump start the week out. Ah, lets send a shout out to a guy who has potentially worked with Antifa to dox my supporters and threatened my supporters that they would "regret asking such questions".

Calling his critics hoaxers in this situation is extremely irresponsible to say the least.

When Obama's administration was dealing with Ebola, Lord Dampnut was not shy of spewing invective, calling Obama a psycho and saying he would have the responsibility to go hug every American who caught it. Now that the shoe is on the other foot, he can't stop whining about how unfair everything is and how everyone is out to get him. He whined when American health workers who contracted Ebola (which is not nearly as contagious) were brought to the US for treatment, but when 14 Americans fell ill with the highly contagious coronavirus, his administration brought them to the US over the objections of the CDC, sent staff to handle them without proper instruction or protection, and then sent these health workers all over the US, even though they had had face-to-face contact with people who were confirmed to have the virus:

    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/...ed-unprotected

The US health department sent workers to assist Americans evacuated from China because of the coronavirus outbreak without proper training or appropriate protective gear, according to a whistleblower complaint filed by a senior department official who said she faced retaliation.

The workers were “improperly deployed” to two military bases in California where Americans who had been in the center of the outbreak, Wuhan in China, were being processed, according to a complaint first reported by the Washington Post.

The whistleblower’s attorney, Ari Wilkenfeld, confirmed the Washington Post accurately described allegations made in a complaint filed to the US Office of Special Counsel (OSC) and said his law firm was hopeful the case would be investigated in a “timely and comprehensive manner”.

“This matter concerns HHS’s response to the coronavirus, and its failure to protect its employees and potentially the public,” Wilkenfeld said in an email to the Guardian. “The retaliatory efforts to intimidate and silence our client must be opposed.”

The staff in question were from the health department’s Administration for Children and Families, or ACF, and were not medical workers. They were “not properly trained or equipped to operate in a public health emergency situation” according to the complaint, which said they had face-to-face contact with evacuees on multiple occasions.

After potentially being exposed to the coronavirus, the workers moved freely off the air force bases and at least one left California on a commercial flight. About 14 personnel were sent to March air force base in Riverside county, California, and about 13 personnel were sent to Travis air force base in Solano county in late January and early February.

Solano county is the first location in the US to see coronavirus confirmed in a person who had not traveled to an area where the illness was spreading and who had no known contact with someone diagnosed with the illness.
    [...]
Just the handling of this one situation alone is so freakishly incompetent, it's as if Lord Dampnut's administration was trying to spread the virus.

I love how all these hardcore Trump fans are taking the Coronavirus as some personal affront against the Trump administration. The coverage for this has been just as breathless and hyperbole ridden as it has been for Ebola, West Nile, SARS, or whatever else have you. Hell, even Trump got in on that action previously, calling out the Obama administration for all the fuckups they made during the Ebola outbreak.

...yet now that Trump's in the big seat, it's all a conspiracy by the media and their Democrat handlers.

Well, SARS2 is infectious like hell......it's not a hyperbole.

1->3 / 1->4 as R0 with someone with symptoms.....if not (subclinic state / asymptomatic), maybe much much more!

Corona is shit, not much to worry about, Flu has far more deaths than Corona. what democrats want is for Corona scare to be bad enough to bring down the economy and trump with it, w/o that they have no chance come 2020.

Coronavirus has a higher death rate per infection than the flu, and is twice as virulent. The only reason why it hasn't spread about the world is because we're spending billions of dollars and enacting multiple quarantines across the world.

The rest of that Tony Tarantula level fuckwittery that I won't even bother replying to.

It's probably best to make a new thread for the Coronavirus (politically related or not), in order to keep some coherence in this one.

Wow, Amy Klobuchar just dropped out, on the afternoon before Super Tuesday. Her home state was to vote tomorrow!

That's three different Democratic candidates, pulling out of the race within a day or so of Super Tuesday. First Steyer, then Buttigieg, and now Klobuchar. They already put in the campaign effort and spent the money to compete tomorrow, so why not stay in one more day and see what happens?

Now that Biden got a win, it looks like the DNC is really twisting some arms to get rid of his competition, I presume, to avoid the negative optics if Sanders wins a plurality but doesn't get the nomination. But if Biden falters, which I think he will, that leaves them with Bloomberg. Ugh.

It's like any other respiratory infection, in that it isn't the bug that kills you, but the pneumonia that follows it. The very old, and the very young are the ones most likely to be fucked by it.

both groups are able to stay home under self quarantine in order to avoid infection as much as possible.

Yeah, but what about their caretakers? We're talking about something that's twice as infectious as the flu, and can be spread about before anyone shows a single sign of sickness.

Given that these two groups usually need assistance from more mature or able bodied members of society, there's absolutely no way you can guarantee anyone's safety outside of putting them all in high level hazmat containment.

The writing was on the wall -- they were all trailing the frontrunners. Buttigieg was the only one who got even close to having a chance, but he never got any traction with black voters. Meanwhile, Biden, Bernie, and Warren all have consolidated a wide base of support. Especially Bernie who has been doing very well with Latino voters.

Frankly, I'm surprised they didn't drop out sooner. The only thing they would accomplish by staying is hurt the chances of Biden. And why Bloomberg is still staying after that humiliating first debate and a disastrous second one, I can't really fathom either. He must be a masochist or something.

So, Lord Dampnut met with the heads of pharmaceutical companies in what looked a lot like a mix of fawning praise for the dear leader and trying to explain thermodynamics to a dog. And after all that effort they spent, Lord Dampnut still seemed to think a vaccine was only a couple of months away and in one crowning moment of stupidity suggested using a flu vaccine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zII4...outu.be&t=3005

From what I've read, a vaccine candidate has been developed. It just has to go through further research, and at least a couple of human trials before it can be released to the general public. That puts it at least 8 months away.

If one comes out sooner than that, I sure as fuck won't be taking it.
