People write folk ballads about our health officers rather that demand they be lynched. That's a good thing, yes?

People who are unemployed are getting income assistance and NOBODY has lost their health insurance. Unsurprisingly, the province being run by Trump North, has the highest infection and death rates but in fairness it is the most populated and our Trump has the sense to listen to people who know more about infectious diseases and is scaling back their reopening. Starting Monday, my province, British Columbia will be allowing limited return to normal with restaurants at 50% capacity and services like hair salons allowed to operate under strict rules about masks, gloves and cleaning between clients. Most will be adding a surcharge for the additional service and nobody seems to mind this. It's the new cost of normal.

Because we have a nationally structured healthcare system, it is far easier to develop and deploy national strategies and to assure that necessary supplies are distributed according to need, not for profit. A credit card is not required to get a COVID19 test but most people know that unless they have a reasonable suspicion they have been exposed, they will refrain from unnecessary testing.

People have universal access to virtual clinics where they can consult with doctors and nurse practitioners, renew prescriptions and get straight information about Covid19.

Our front line medical workers are very stressed but they are getting the equipment they need to keep them as safe as possible. We don't ask them to stand in the street confronting gun-toting children demanding liberties they can't accept responsibility for. Instead we go out on the street at 7PM every day to bang pots, blow horns and let them know we are behind them (and out of their way). There have been no care crises because we have flattened the curve so well. We are already rescheduling urgent surgeries postponed by the outbreak and hospitals are able function normally.

How is Trump handling the 100,000 people he has killed so far?
that is awesome Nicker, here our POS liberal Governor is looking to lay off first responders while giving illegals aid.

The problem is your PILE OF SHIT president. He killed people through negligence and inaction. He killed people by recommending taking bleach internally. That's not really up for debate.

And don't worry, as soon as he doesn't have his presidential get out of jail free card, he will be swimming in charges.

To be fair about the bleach thing, the increase in reported poisonings could be attributed to the fact that more people are using bleach outside of the laundry room these days.

But the rest is somewhat true. Trump played this entirely for politics, removing the federal government from the equation as much as possible so that he could pass the blame on from himself to the governors in case things go sideways.

...and guess what's happening? Yup. There's a lot of blaming of the governors coming out of White House these days.

That's kind of the Republicans fault there. On this 3rd budget proposal, the Republicans suddenly discovered that they're fiscal conservatives, and are mulling over the idea of letting the states apply for bankruptcy, per McConnell.

If they don't get federal aid in an emergency situation, then what will the states do? They'll make budget cuts, they'll raise taxes, they'll do all kinds of things to make sure they remain solvent.

Guess you better get used to dealing with it, because Trump doesn't like California, so they probably won't receive much favor from Washington.

Speaking of bleach, let's just take a moment to reminisce about the time the president of the US had a bright idea to put "a very powerful light into the body" and his followers immediately jumped to defend it, only to be blindsided by his later claim that he was only being "sarcastic":

Speaking of social distancing, if you read the clinical recommendations for dealing with a person with severe Narcissistic Personality Disorder, a common refrain you're going to see, probably the principal recommendation, is to just find ways to unilaterally cut the person out of your life and being very strict not to backslide, so you make sure you have zero interactions with them.

Any interactions are inevitably going to lead to further exploitation of the mark or supply by a critical lack of empathy, and there is no reasoning or hoping things will get better. Not even the smallest interactions should pass to the extent possible. Any chance of it, cut your losses and burn it.

I think Melania figured that out long ago; just say tf away from him. /shrug/ I'm not in much mood to compare the GOP and its base to emotionally abused women sticking to their man while he openly exploits them.... I'm saying it's clinically important that people being vicitimized by Trump exclude him from any influence or involvement in any aspect of their lives. Considering him as an entity which doesn't exist isn't just a matter of making a cheap political swipe; it's important to one's mental health and well being.

That's right, here in the Netherlands it was a stressful time for our medical systems. That might happen again should we face a second wave by opening up too soon. But the system held up despite the stress. No bodies had to be put in cooler trucks like in New York. And no one runs the risk of medical bankruptcy no matter how long they have to stay in an intensive care ward, because of mandatory health insurance and the dreaded (by people like you) single payer system. Also, our unemployment percentages are much lower than yours are. The government helps companies to keep employees on the payroll by paying up to 90% of their salaries. And the suicide rate has lowered even though experts are struggling to explain why. So yeah, "socialism" works pretty well for us, thanks for asking!

She's the true libertarian candidate. Her stance on healthcare and unregulated business will make her highly unpopular with the liberals, and her stance on open borders and immigration means that the conservatives will loathe her.

Honestly, she's a better pick for the presidency than either Biden or Trump, simply for the facts that she isn't loathed by half the electorate, and probably won't drop dead from old age anytime soon. Hell, I bet she can even form complete sentences. Unfortunately, I just can't see her having a chance this late in the game.

If Justin Amash couldn't even survive the winnowing process for two months, despite being the type of classical conservative politician Republicans used to swear by before the age of Trump, I can't imagine her making any headway.

The problem with Libertarians is that they're not really a coherent party, not like the Democrats and Republicans. They're barely organized, ideologically fractured, and just all over the damn place. It's basically just a label people decide to slap on themselves when they don't want to run as a D or an R.

Because the disinformation campaign has been going on so long and been so successful that the Republican primary voters preferred someone completely divorced from reality.

Did he differentiate between breeding stock and lambs to the slaughter?

Isn't Hassett the guy who is directing the "return to normal", rather than medical experts?

Rather than double post, here's a video making the case for Donald comitting involuntary manslaughter in the deaths of Covid19 sufferers in the USA.

Trump's Memorial Day Tweets were just more of the same bullshit. Wow. Does he really believe that people don't know his 'military' history? Then again, seems like Trump, a five-time draft dodger, loves disrespecting veterans; God knows he's done it enough. *smh*

P.S. The last Tweet in the linked article was priceless.
