nobody has ever said it's okay to break into government offices and disrupt government business on the left.
But they do it anyway, without punishment.

    No. People are punished.

Wake me up when the Palestinian protesters all get 22 years federal prison like the J6 types.

Edit: Looks like most have already been released.

You have to release people on bail. It's a law. Then you get taken to court to find out if you broke a law. Haven't you taken civics class? Trying to overturn a lawfully elected government because you worship one man is a little different than shouting slogans in an area not designated for it.

    No difference then?

There's a difference in motive, this time it's not an insurrection, but after Jan 6 we ought not to tolerate mobs busting into Capitol buildings. I was happy to see the Capitol police round 'em up, and I hope the prosecutor does look at charging all of them. I wish large groups would stick to the National Mall. The Capitol used to be really open to the public. That got tighter after Jan 6. Now it will become a fortress.

I watched a ton of footage from the black lives matter protests and one thing that struck me was how excessively brutal the police was. Nearly every time it was the police who escalated things. I saw them shoot at kids and disabled veterans in wheelchairs. One instance I still vividly remember was that of a very old man on the sidewalk being violently shoved by the police so he flew from the sidewalk onto the car lane, ostensibly because he wasn't moving fast enough for the police officers' liking. He wasn't even part of the protests, just a passerby in an otherwise empty street who happened to have the misfortune of getting targeted by US police. I think any grievance these protesters had was more than enough legitimized just by the sheer brutality displayed against them.

It was markedly different with the January 6 crowd. Suddenly the protesters were treated with kids gloves and it was the police getting brutalised, being tazered and beaten with an American flag tied to a stick. And what were their grievances? They wanted to interrupt a democratic process and kill the vice president just because he wouldn't do the president's bidding and go against the US constitution. All the allegations of fraud had been laughed out of the court by even judges their own president had appointed. They simply couldn't handle that the other side won fair and square.

And the crowd applauded that.

So whatever. He already was in contact with foreign agents for their assistance in his first election, sold US intelligence and met with foreign agents during his first term for gobs of money, grifted the office for more gobs of money, and then intentionally incited an insurrection on the US capital (get those metal detectors out of here) to overthrow a democratically elected government. It's not like he hadn't already checked the dictator box from the start.
We already know he'll abuse his power if reelected, but it's good to have him on the record for next year's campaign.

You got it half right. HINT: It's #1.

Both parties are not equally shitty, not since your Mango Lord And Saviour tried to destroy the USA. Your party is singularly, spectacularly and unprecedentedly vile. It, and Rump, have taken grift into orbit and are bombing the globe from space.

And make no mistake, Chuckles, trying to diminish and excuse the serial crimes of your spray-tan hero, comparing them to the garden variety, political trough-gobbling of yesteryear, is cheerleading for Trump without your panties on. Shameless whoring. If you think really your mealy-mouthed false equivalents are fooling anyone then either your lies have completely poisoned what was once your soul or you are so dense you have a fucking event horizon.

I already know you are incapable of intellectual honesty but at least make an effort towards internal consistency.

BTW, you weren't half right. You were only one-third right. The fuck off is still your best option. Take it.

You don't even have to look at how the GOP treat the other party to see how fucked they are. Look at how often they throw their own supporters under the bus and use them as cannon fodder

Jan 6, Covid anti-mask, anti-vaccine etc: while Trump prepares pardons for only his top co-conspirators, and they all get the vaccines while sowing distrust in medicine to their followers. They literally murdered hundreds of thousands of people, but these weren't even the other party - they were overwhelmingly their own followers, who are seen as expendable.

That's the "real" right mindset, nothing more than classic Machiavelli. Voters simply don't understand they're glorified (THE PEOPLE!) cannon fodder or they dream to be part of some elite (but the dream becomes just a nightmare).

I keep seeing Trumpers insisting that DJT is one of them, understands the little guy, is the only politician who can be trusted to do what's right for them, loves them. Typical populist crap. The GOP and their ilk, are masters of getting stupid people to vote against their interests.

And now we have mini-trumps infesting Canadian politics. Federal and provincial leaders using legislative dirty tricks and threatening secession. Roving gangs of "grassroots parents" going out of district and invading school board meetings to protest gender issues. The truckers "protest" demanding that an elected prime minister simply be replaced by their preferences. Fuck voting, just gimmie what I want.

Didn't we have a world war about this shit and didn't the fascists lose that?

Doesn't matter. They want dictators now. They reason that gas prices will be lower that way. I wish I were kidding.

Because handing over the keys for the Whitehouse to the petrochemical industry is the best way to control the price at the pump...
