    Dark Souls: The Reexperiencing

I figured it'd be better to start my own thread, instead of taking over What Are You Playing Now.

To sum up my experiences thus far: totaled Taurus, Beat the Bell Gargoyles, lopped Lautrec, bounced the Black Knight hanging around the Undead Burg, humbled Havel, and conquered (the motherfuckingest) Capra Demon.

I'm still a bit graceless, but I'm getting a better feel for the controls. Also, I figured out that Capra is so difficult not because he's mean, and not just because he comes standard with two dogs, but because the room you fight him in is tiny as hell. You're fighting the camera almost as much as you're fighting him.

    Gaping Dragon Got Gimped!

Yeah, first try. Barely a struggle. I don't wanna get too cocky, though. Ornstein and Smough will be coming up soon.

    Stray Demon? Smooshed!

I call this video five minutes of monster ass.

Good to see you manning up to old Capra. To be honest I've used the stairs to my advantage on every playthrough. The gaping dragon is probably the easiest boss in the game but pretty awesome looking nevertheless. I still remember seeing it coming over the water's edge the first time thinking that it didn't look so bad only to be shocked at its true form when it reared up on its back legs.

I hated fighting the Stray Demon and his other 2 kin -- the annoying lack of visibility feels more like a fight against the camera -- but he was definitely the worst of the 3 given the abundance of hit points.

Gaping Dragon gets props for presentation, but the actual fight is something of a letdown. He only becomes a real threat if you face him head on, which no one'll ever do, since it's so easy to run around behind him.

And yeah, you'll notice I never once locked onto ole Stray that entire fight. It took me three tries to realize that the camera was what was getting me killed moreso than anything he was doing. Though there is some satisfaction in taking him down so quickly. Back when, it took me a ton of tries to kill him. I used to think that his AE attacks were SO HARD to avoid. Now? He's pretty easy, so long as you have a good bit of patience.

Both Capra and Stray feel like unfair "gotcha" bosses to me. Only that one is obviously optional and the other is not (regular players are unlikely to know they can take the back door to Blighttown at this point). Bed of Chaos is a bit like that too, although I've never died to it.

Speaking of Blighttown, I'm not gonna take the back entrance to it this time. I'm gonna go through the front door, something I didn't do previously, and will probably end up getting my ass kicked along the way. Really don't wanna go down to that poison town.

And the Moonlight Butterfly has been mushed!

Man, there's nothing quite like Blighttown to give you the fuckity shakes.

And Quelaag is quashed! Took me 4 tries because of that stupid AE attack she does. It'll kill you outright if you're at anything lower than maximum health.

    Ceaseless Discharge has ceased discharging.

...I remember this guy being a helluva lot harder than this.

Same here. I remember having to run away from him to avoid his unavoidable slap attacks while he spewed fire all over the place. Took me multiple tries to bring him down, and when I did, I only just managed to pull victory from the jaws of defeat.

I guess if you stick close to him to keep him from using his fire attack, and time your rolls just right, he's easy to cheese.

And the Iron Golem is...er...irrigated! Now this was a good fight, even if that grab towards the end of the battle felt a little cheap on the AIs part.

Ornstein and Smough? Obliterated and Smashed!

It's still a hard battle. The fact they're both super quick, and you barely have any time to get a single hit in before they swarm you is what makes the first half of the battle so tough. The second half wasn't so bad. I handled it pretty well, save that time my target lock decided to drop, and Smough picked that exact moment to do a charge right in front of the camera, blocking my view. The camera in DS1 really was the worst.

It's worth taking the time out to watch it just because it's so funny. The actual fight starts around 50 seconds in. It's over by 1:17.

And that new scythe? Man, it hits like a Mack truck, and swings like the wind. Unless I come across something better near the very end, it might be the best dex weapon in the game.

You should've went there right at the start. Like, while you had unupgraded weapons. You don't know anything about the Pinwheel fight, until you fight him like that.

It makes me wonder why From gave him so few hit points that he becomes a joke to fight. I can understand the thematic reasoning, but it still seems like such a waste for them to design this unique character with a ton of interesting moves, tie one of the more interesting pieces from the soundtrack to him, only to have him die 30 seconds into a fight against people who'll be leveled up appropriately for the area.

I'm enjoying watching these, particularly as they're all being posted in the same thread.

    More are incoming soon.

I just dabbled in it a bit today. Made my way through the Chasm of the Abyss, and even found Sif without any help. Afterwards, I made my way down to Manus, and thoroughly got my ass kicked but good. It's the first time I've ever fought him, and...uh, yeah, I'm gonna need some practice.

Manus has been mutilated. I have to admit, I lucked out on this one. He used his single ground slap more than usual, which is one of his easiest moves to dodge and counter.

Also, you're gonna have to watch this one in complete silence. For reasons entirely unknown, it didn't capture any sound.

Sif is slewn. I feel like a bastard now! He was my friend!

Looks like I'm closing in on the end of this. I believe I only have 5 bosses left to fight now. The Four Kings, Nito, Centipede Demon, Bed of Chaos (which is less a boss, more a giant pain in everyone's ass), and then, finally, Gwyn.
