Gems, from my faulty memory. Faulty, because directions may be 'slightly' off.
    1. on wooden beam in small hallway leading towards the library, with staircase to Thaddeus rooms in the west
    2. Library, on top of bookshelf
    3. On old (inaccessible) balcony, right in front of the scriptorium to the east
    4. Main chapel, on pillar with statues
    5. A room/side-chapel in the north with 4 huge statues (like 6 meters high) standing back to back to each other and a novice buzzing around them. On top of those statues. Not sure if this is a ctually considered a gem, as it looks like a spice bag.

There are only 3 gems, and their locations correspond to 1, 2 and 4 in gnartsch's list. The other two he listed are secrets/loot locations.

Mission finished, very beautiful hammerite monastery, i like the use of terrain textures with bright colors , it reminds me Alexandria ancient buildings, the gameplay is very good as well as the plot-line, and i also enjoyed the ambient musics for this mission, again well done Russ! moving to next mission...

I reckon my download is broken..I have more than enough cash but the objective is not checking off and it isn't checking off the shovel that I have just found and I therefore cannot dig up said corpse...woe is me...
I am using the newdarkloader and have no enhancement packs running only the up to date newdark.

Upload your savegame file and someone may have a look, and/or fix the problem. The easiest way is to make a quicksave and look for the file Thief2\FMs\DCE_v1\saves\quick.sav.

I have the same issue with the french version, I can see the briefing screen but the mission starts with a black screen. Do I need the fix for the german version ?

I think Athalle has a fixed French version, but I don't know of a link for it. You might contact her, or check the French Thief forums.

This may have bugged out a bit for me.

After I dug up Julia, I heard a lot of undead noises but didn't see any until I'd met Edwin. And when I met Edwin, he said something along the lines of "I'll protect her from them" and I still didn't see anything. Then a load of undead and new Hammers appeared when I entered the cathedral again.

Thank you Yandros, I didn't know there was a french forum before reading your answer

    link to the forum
Maybe it could help some other people with the same problem (I didn't test the new file myself yet).

Alright, so I guess I'm done with this mission.
Undead impossible to kill, can't sneak around em they're everywhere with lights attached to themselves. They survive a fucking mine blast.......6 holy water arrows.......Can't outrun them either with or without a body on your shoulder. Sigh, hate undead.

I think gnartsch thought this was the mission 9 thread.

  22. #47
    So what do I do?
    spoiler:
I waited 20 minutes for them to clear out, or at least enough for me to sneak by, but the three of them just keep circling in the entrance next to Edwin's new coffin. They have super vision too, just leaning around the corner is enough for them to spot me.

I guess you could restart and try another approach.
I never tried fighting undeads; instead, I ghosted the mission. It is stiil not easy, but possible. Here's a few hints:
Don't use your water arrows until after the undead spawn; that way, you can douse the newly-lit torches.
There is a more or less safe way to move around the cathedral to avoid most big fights.
Speed is key. Don't wait for them to finish fighting; sneak along the walls while they are busy.
For the last area with the flaming haunt, use an invisibility potion to cross the lit area; douse the candles and torches near Julia's grave, and that area will be shadowed enough to hide.

I did ghost past the undead on the way to Edwin, I didn't wait, but yeah out of water arrows. No invisibility potion either. (On Expert, where do I find that?).
Also, with no hint about what's going to happen, why would I think to save my water arrows?

Invis potion along with extra water arrows can be found in one of the secret areas:
Secret door bookcase, reveals hidden room with loot and tools - In Brother Ewain's office, on hall near pool room, switch is under desk
