SWAT 4 spiritual successor, Ready or Not. Q4 2020 release.

Happy to finally have an extended look at this game. I've been anticipating it since it was announced.

Some more reliable testing by Digital Foundry here. (Protip: if you wanna test CPU impact, make sure you're doing it in a like-for-like run with an easily repeatable scene, and dial your graphics down until the GPU isn't functioning as a bottleneck).

Ideally, DMC5 doesn't eat CPU cycles for lunch and so won't have issues running on systems with a relatively recent CPU. But a 7% performance difference is nothing to sneeze at on a 6-core i5 8400 - this sort of explains Ubisoft's massively painful CPU utilisation for everything from AC:Or/Od and Watchdogs 2. And those two AC games come wrapped with not one but two layers of DRM - VMProtect and Denuvo.

I just upgraded to a RTX 2060 6GB from a GTX 970 4GB and the framerate in both AC: Origins and Odyssey definitely still chugs. Drops down to like 42 fps at 1080p, Very High settings in densely populated cities.

Performance in Far Cry: New Dawn on the other rarely dips below 55fps. I assume that the iterations of Anvil Engine from the last 2-3 years might have shittier optimisation than Dunia.

Dunia's a different beast altogether, I wouldn't worry about its performance. Out of the games I mentioned, AC: Origins isn't as heavy on the GPU as Odyssey is. If you run an OSD during a session of Origins, you'll see the framerate chugging in dense areas because your CPU's being maxed out, while GPU utilisation hovers around 50-60% on a similar spec GPU. This doesn't rule out shit optimisation, but the layering of unfriendly DRM solutions isn't exactly helping either.

    EDIT: Wishlist it, fellas.

MASTER CHIEF COLLECTION on STEAM. YES YES YES YES. I AM SO HAPPY! They've promised proper mouse support and FOV slider. Reach is being added to MCC too. Each game in the series will be rolled out piecemeal over time.

    Welcome home, Master Chief.

    EDIT:
Press release with all of the info:
    http://archive.fo/MNYpj
First, Halo: Reach is being added to Halo: The Master Chief Collection (MCC) and second, the entire collection is coming to PC via the Microsoft Store and Steam! This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for us to bring the Halo Universe and Master Chief’s story to a new audience and to offer PC gamers a chance to step into the franchise on the PC platform of their choice.
For the team at 343 Industries, the most important and critical element of this project is ensuring that Halo: The Master Chief Collection delivers a true “first class” experience on PC. We’re embarking on a journey with our community to build a PC experience that delivers on PC gamer expectations. The team is passionately committed to ensuring that all of the features, bells, and whistles expected in a modern PC title are included with MCC.

The Master Chief’s arrival on PC will happen in stages with each title releasing one by one over time -– giving the development teams the ability to ensure each one is right, while giving players a chance to jump in right away, rather than having to wait for the entire suite of games to be completed. Our current plan is for this journey to begin with the launch of Halo: Reach – the fictional beginnings of Master Chief’s saga – with the rest of the titles following in chronological order thereafter. Halo: Reach, Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST (Campaign), and Halo 4 will each be available for individual purchase within MCC as they become available. And each game will evolve and grow over time with community input.

Along with “bring Halo: The Master Chief Collection to PC!”, the next loudest refrain from Halo fans has been to “add Halo: Reach to Halo: The Master Chief Collection!” and we’re excited to make good on both requests later this year. Halo: Reach in Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Xbox One looks better than ever in stunning 4K/HDR on compatible hardware and plays better than ever at a silky smooth 60FPS.

On Xbox One specifically, Halo: Reach’s multiplayer content (which includes Forge and the Theater) will be automatically included for everyone who owns Halo: The Master Chief Collection while Halo: Reach’s Campaign and Firefight experiences will be offered together as a premium digital add-on. Xbox Game Pass subscribers will have access to the entirety of Halo: Reach within MCC as part of their subscription. Halo: Reach will look and play just as great when it lands on the Microsoft Store and Steam with Campaign, Multiplayer, and Firefight available for purchase as the first step in this PC journey.

Might have been interested a decade ago. Can't say I have any enthusiasm for Bungie left in me now.

Bungie hasn't been involved with Halo since like 2011, mate.

This looks interesting. A turn-based tactical game inspired by X-COM and made by Tom Francis, of Gunpoint and Heat Signature fame.

Not sure it's really my kind of game, but still interesting.

Well yeah, but that pack is all Bungie games except one, and I'm really not interested in anything they did post-Marathon at this point.

Ok that Master Chief collection I'll be all over. Loved the first Halo on PC. Great to play the rest where they belong (on PC).

Really minimal information here, but Turtle Rock (the developers behind Left 4 Dead and Evolve) are making a new co-op zombie shoter.

The article doesn't really say much other than that they're working on it, it will be a premium AAA game, and that it will be a brand new IP and not related to L4D (presumably because Valve own the rights for L4D).
We'll have to wait and see how it compares to the old games or to Vermintide.

New game by the guys who made Hyper Light Drifter (Heart Machine). Looks like another Epic Store exclusive though.

PC master race wants nothing to do with weakling two-weapon limits and regenerating health.

And adopted into some later PC FPS games as well. Best on PC due to the control scheme more than anything else. I've played many FPS games on consoles (favorites being the first Darkness game and the Resistance series), but I always end up taking ages getting used to the controls. Where as on PC it all just gells perfect right away.

That does indeed sound pretty hype, never played Blood before (even though I own it on gog).

Admittedly, these games seem to be getting re-releases all the time. Still, another one can't hurt, right?

I don't think I've ever seen the original Contra, arcade or NES, re-released anywhere. I'm definitely grabbing these for PC.

I'd be even more hyped if they did a set with all the Gradius games and Life Force/Salamander in it. They should also make the Rebirth games available since you can't buy them anymore.

Its also getting Blaster Master 2. A completely new Metroidvania style sequel. Its not too often that brand new sequels to NES games happen.

Must admit, I kind of tired of Borderlands 2 before the end. Still, I'm guessing there'll be plenty here interested in this: https://www.usgamer.net/articles/bor...e-trailer-here
