At the very least, I know that Icemann will be stoked.

Looks like we're getting another Universalist Judeo-Christian Pan-Hindu Buddhist Shinto Pokémon sequel, and this time, it's coming to the Nintendo Switch!

The Game Awards just happened and a bunch of trailers for new games were revealed.

    Campo Santo's next looks intriguing!

Death Stranding gets increasingly weird and terrifying.

Witchfire, a gorgeous-looking FPS from the Vanishing of Ethan Carter devs.

Aaaand here's a pile more. There's a new Metro game, a Zelda DLC that has a motorbike in it, Bayonetta 1, Bayonetta 2, Bayonetta 3, a new game by From Software, etc. Nothing you're interested in probably.

God damn it, the Bayonetta series remains exclusive to Nintendo. Must I really buy a Switch just for one game?

Pleased to hear about Soul Calibur 6 though, about bloody time. It actually wasn't that long ago that I did a search for Soul Calibur news, "just in case", so maybe they were reading my mind!

I hadn't heard of any of those before. Witchfire in particular has caught my eye.

I wonder the FS team are up to. It looks very BloodBorney...

Yeah, Witchfire looks interesting, I'm paying attention. I was starting to think modern day Hexen until the player pulled out a gun.

RPS said it could be a new Shadow Tower game, and hey, it could be. Who knows. I'm secretly hoping they go even farther back to the roots, and are secretly announcing a new Kings Field.

And yes, Witchfire looks freaking awesome. I can't wait to watch the trailer with sound when my new speakers arrive sometime this afternoon.

Looks like this is going to be the second time I'm buying a Nintendo console over a Bayonetta game.

At least this time you'll be buying a Nintendo console that you'll be using for more than just a handful of Nintendo games.

In the comments on the FromSoftware teaser, some people make a sound argument that it could be from a new Tenchu game. FromSoftware bought the rights to the franchise from Activision, but hasn't developed a game using the IP yet, and the assassins in Tenchu are called Shadows. And apparently the "Shadows Die Twice" line is (or could be) a reference to something that happened in the last Tenchu game.

FromSoftware making a stealth action game? I'm interested.

(Then again, it could also be a reference to a first-person action RPG game they made in the late 90s called Shadow Tower... or maybe something completely different.)

I recall a statement made last year about bringing back a beloved series and Tenchu would definitely tick that box. While I haven't played Shadow Tower or its sequel (Japan release only), from what I've read about the story and gameplay it doesn't sound like it's worth making another one.

A modern Tenchu would rock. Love those games.

In The Valley of Gods looks really interesting to me. A first-person archaeologist adventure game that isn't focused on combat? Sounds a lot like the game I'm working on myself, so that's a definite wishlist item for me.

Witchfire also looks good. It's nice to see the people behind the beautiful graphics of Ethan Carter making a game with a healthy helping of gameplay.

    Thanks for sharing those.

    New Year, New Hype!

RPS has a list of 29 exciting upcoming PC games

I'm looking forward to Into The Breach, Far Cry 5, and Cyberpunk 2077. Somewhat interested in Kingdom Come and Ashen. Didn't like Darksiders much, but seeing as part 3 is developed by Gunfire Games (who made the Chronos, which I liked) I'm somewhat interested.

Oh, and that goose game. In case you haven't seen it, here:

I never realized I wanted to play as an asshole goose until just now.

The only must-play for me by the looks of it, assuming it comes out this year, is PoE 2. I'll put Battletech, No Truce With The Furies, Griftlands, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, and Phoenix Point on my 50% Discount+less than $10 wishlist. I also imagine we're about due for Bethsoft announcing/releasing something new as it's been 3 years since their last PR/release cycle.

Re: Bethsoft, the credible rumor is "a new sci-fi IP called Starfield" that's supposed to be billed as an open-world'em-up in space and on some alien planets. I was thinking the open world scifi thing I read about a year or more ago ended up being Prey, but reading back up on it now, it seems Starfield is still its own thing. I'd take it.

Edit: It would somehow fit for Bethesda Software to have a scifi game in the Skyrim/Fallout mold just as CD Projekt has Cyberpunk 2077 following The Witcher. And it'd be fun if a lot of info on both of them were released for E3 2018.

    Edit2:

The only upcoming game coming out in the immediate future that I'm really looking forward to is Far Cry 5 really. Far Cry 4 was the most fun that I've had with a game during the 8th gen so far, of course I'm looking forward to a proper sequel.

EDIT:- Detroit: Become Human is looking very intriguing.

I won't bother playing Cyberpunk 2077 at launch. All CD Projekt RED games to date have been released unpolished and needing a dozen patches before they're "great". The Witcher 3 was no different.

No hype here, but I'm curious about a few games, like Vampyr, the System Shock reboot/remake/whatever and Metro Exodus, off the top of my head. C2077 and Pathologic 2 too I guess, but I doubt they're coming out this year. I'm also never going to give up on Tangiers. That's about it.

Pathologic 2 has a better than good chance of coming out this year, since Ice Pick has been working on it since, hell, I dunno, 2014 or so?

Can't wait for Far Cry 5, because the FC games are always a lot of dumb, stupid fun.

The upcoming Xbox 1st party game line-up has possibly been leaked.
    • New Fable
    • New Perfect Dark in 3rd person, co-developed by current Gears of War studio The Coalition.
    • New MechAssault
    • Forza Horizon 4 will be set in Japan.
    • Crackdown 3's campaign will support 4 player co-op.
    • Halo 6 will have a high player count (possibly a Battle Royale mode?)

All Xbox first party games come to Windows 10 too, so obviously this is all good news for PC gamers too if true.

Having a arcadey mech MP arena game releasing would be a fantastic move considering the current resurgence of Battletech gaming landing within the next year with the Battletech tactical strategy game and MechWarrior 5.
