These Farming Sims always have the most feel-good trailers.
I've yet to buy any of these, but it seems like with every entry they introduce a new feature that makes it slightly more tempting. Last year it was forestry, this year... HORSIES!I like that stuff, I also like the idea of loading trucks, driving trucks, and unloading trucks, it's just that the meat of the gameplay seems to be driving back and forth across fields in a straight line, which is... uh, not very tempting. I guess what I'm saying is, I'd be all over these Farming Sims if only they had less farming in them!

So something like a Truck Simulator then?

I know, i posted in that thread. I was being hyperbolic because of the amount of apathy/negativity in that thread. Only Severian and I appear keen keen on it.
Incidently, I think Book of The New sun would make a great TV series. Get the guys who did Lexx to meet the guys who do GoT.
As far as marketing goes, these trailers have been fairly abstruse, which is a considerably marmite approach compared to, say, Metal Gear Solid's more straightforward trailers of the past: you risk turning off the audience instead of inspiring curiosity. So far, all I see is a bunch of cutscenes snipped out of the main game, presented without comment. While I'm sure that means they're pleased as punch with the Decima engine, it's mildly frustrating to have these in medias res when the actual game's probably going to be more conventionally laid out. Kojima remains an auteur in gaming development, and I maintain a healthy level of respect for his abilities, so I'm interested to see how the game turns out regardless of oddly directionless marketing.

To put it more simply, the apathy or negativity has been directed at the marketing rather than the game. Because of the mysterious marketing, we don't yet know much about the game.
But plenty of us are interested; we're just in wait and see mode.
I'm really intrigued by the story and love the atmosphere of the trailers. This being a Kojima game, I'm not worried at all. It's made by $ony Money and they're giving the team lots of freedom (or so it seems), so if it doesn't turn out to be a masterpiece (like MGS1, 2 and 3 were IMO) than I'm sure it's still gonna be great (like MGS4, PeaceWalker and V).I know, i posted in that thread. And I also think that BOTNS would make a great adaptation for TV. And that kind of 'dying earth' setting would make an awesome Soulslike game!
A BOTNS game in a Souls style would be so odd. It'd work.
Talking of odd/weird - that's the POINT of the marketing for Death Stranding. It's working. People are intrigued because... wtf is going on? It's got great visuals for this type of marketing though; that beach with the fish and whales, the music, Mads and his weirdo crew. It's art.
Seems as though Rob K is looking to get it developed through another studio with former Telltale employers. Not sure how viable that is but at least there is some hope of it getting concluded at some stage.

I'm posting this for henke, because this is no doubt a thing that deserves hype if you like 80s neon and open-world couriering:
Oooooh, very nice!
Steering wheel's on the wrong side tho. ¬_¬
It's for the best. Driving on the right might be a tactically poor decision in the UK that could cause bystanders to shake their heads and mutter under their breath at you, and that's just the worst.
I turn my back on DCS for a little too long and this is what happens. Third party DLC has been getting more impressive.
I believe it when I see it.
That's not how hype works...![]()
That's how EA works, though.
Ooh, nice!
Frictional Games are "close to finishing" one of their new games. They're looking for a 3D Environment Artist to help finish the levels over the course of ~1 year. That means we're probably getting a new FG game in 2019.
That's a good bit of sleuthing! I doubt anything's quite going to top the masterclass that was SOMA, but I sure as hell want to follow them as they attempt to anyway.
Return of the Obra Dinn is out and it's getting fantastic reviews from critics and players alike. I just bought it and I'm excited to play it soon. Anyone else been following it?
Yeah, I'm playing it and it's great. I knew it was coming out, but I never watched any trailers or anything.
