I wish there were a space exploration game that didn't rely so much on procedurally generated content. I don't mean the world design so much as the constant stream of repetitive tasks.

I recently spent a few weeks playing Rebel Galaxy, which is maybe an hour or two of handcrafted content broken up by tens of hours of grinding so that the next bit of handcrafted content is accessible. Which is a shame, because it's a mechanically solid game that reminds me quite a bit of Pirates! in space.

Well again Elite as I said . Though I'm not sure if that was procedurally generated or not. I've never played it. Only read about it in Retro Gamer magazine.

Your just dropped into a world with no guidance of what to do. Just go out and do it. Super ancient graphics though as the game came out in 1984. Quite amazing really. From memory the entire game takes up 48k of space. That's it.

So Starbreeze has been in financial trouble lately, in part due to the poor performance of Overkill's The Walking Dead.

Now their offices have been raided: https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articl...erson-arrested

Insider trading, apparently. I guess someone figured out the company was doing worse than publicly acknowledged and cashed out?

Welp. I don't give a shit about Payday 3 but this combined with Underworld Ascendant launching in a hot garbage state doesn't bode well for System Shock 3. (Context: Starbreeze is SS3's publisher and have invested $12mil into its development.)

Oh shit, I didn't know that. Grim news for SS3 indeed. :|

Starbreeze are publishing Psychonauts 2 and they just dropped a trailer dated 2019 for that.

    TIME FOR APE JUSTICE AAARRRRRRRGH

I like the Psychonauts 2 trailer too. Double Fine's recent output has me at mellow hype levels for the game overall tho.

Polygon has all the TGA trailers listed here.

Isn’t Starbreeze the company that’s in trouble? I hope that won’t create problems for Psychonauts 2.

So that games basically the starting bit out of "The Lawnmower Man" where the apes go crazy and start attacking everyone.

What's with in trailers where they block the actual trailer with excessive text about who made it?
    No one really cares?

People are just likely to get annoyed and turn the trailer off.

(Kind of the same in films, why do they waste the first few minutes with credits, no one cares? And if they do, they can check the end credits or look it up online...)

So that one day, many decades later, we could get this:

Loved the starting credits to this movie.

    1) the texts are done in a stylish way which makes the whole thing look better.

    2) yes, we do care. Are you telling me you didn’t get slightly more hyped when you saw that BENNETT FODDY is one of the creators behind this?

I'm usually easily impressed by good art direction, but this isn't good art direction. This is incredible art direction.

Yes that is very pretty. I like the stop-motiony animation and all the wobbly bits.

Cool that they made low poly & glitchy part of the aesthetic.
    Looks great, intriguing, and fun.
