That's... actually kinda good, but it belongs in the music thread. Eh. A musical interlude ain't so bad. Reminds me of a cross between Boards of Canada and Aphex Twin

Anyway I've been thinking of going to watch Artemis One take off from Canaveral. Already got the resort accommodations now that they have set the date. I chose to stay at Smyrna Beach instead of going for the high priced hotels on the cape. Not much farther away and it's actually on the beach with balconies and ocean view. Cape Canaveral is like Destin, Florida in that it has become all condo's in the choice locations so that any hotel is set back from the beach. Not that I got a hotel in Smyrna. I got a time share rental. So help me nobody better try to talk me into a time share though. I don't plan on being there long. It's just that it's close to the highway I'm going to use to go to Playalinda Beach which, once you walk .9 miles is the closest you can get to the launch. On google maps you can zoom in to see where they have stretched a fence and a platform where park rangers act as guards. I'm going to ask if I can observe from their platform. Most they can do is say no.

Also I think I have shingles on my fingers. Motherfucker. Should have gotten the damn shot.

So apparently TTLG blocks image links from a certain Ebook sharing site. Tried to embed an image directly on the Thief forum, didn't show up

I always use https://imgur.com/. It's free. You have to start your own account but it works fine. It might be a little circuitous but after you learn how to use it it works. Download your image to the site with a drag and drop then wand over the pic and choose the dots to the right of the copy link option that appears. Choose "Get share links" then pick BBC code and click on that and then you have to come here and click the insert image icon right click on it and choose paste then OK.

I know other forums have a direct copy or drag from your computer thing but this one is a little archaic.

Oh and afterward on Imgur to see your pics you have to click on your name and posts. Don't click images. That always gives you some can't get there from here message.

Oh oh and it's easier with google chrome where you can keep multiple windows open at once if you want.

I just started using Imgur again after a looooong break. It's not bad if you upload images on a cellphone but for some reason using the site on a PC seems more difficult these days. Still haven't figured out how to post smaller images though using Imgur. All my beer pics are gigantic.

The edit function only appears when you click on your name (upper right) at Imgur then click "posts" in the drop down. You then choose a pic and the dots on the right give you that option in the wand over. I can't recall it doing so right after an upload but it might. Of course you can always edit before you drag and drop to Imgur on your computer (if you have downloaded to images on your PC) by right clicking and choosing edit with paint then clicking resize there. Once you get to edit on Imgur and choose resize though, you left click highlight one size (length or width) and put in say 400 or so and the other will automatically resize to fit instead of distort.

Look at me, the poke and hope guy, giving computer advice. Everything I do is trial and error with a lot of WTF why did they make all this so difficult? thrown in. Drinking helps. It makes you stubborn and experimental and thus you can decipher even the most hidden functions with a modicum of clicking and cursing.

My wife was watching the old series "Highway to Heaven" that came out in the early eighties, the one starring Michael Landon, and I sat down to watch with her. The first thing I said was that I recalled the Halloween episode where they pulled a triple con on the Devil. Most of the shows were shameless tear jerkers but that one was ingenious. Mark had sold his soul to the Devil to save a child he accidentally hit and Jonathan (the angel) got it back for him with the help of a con man who was going straight. Great episode.

Well anyway, it was still up on Filmrise station this morning so I turned it on and guess which episode was up next? The Devil and Jonathan Smith. I didn't disremember. It was great. But one thing I forgot was who played the Devil. Michael Berryman (you likely recall him from Goonies). I love that dude. Best and most personable actor I've ever met. He told some great stories about the first time he met Rod Sterling and growing up in Arkansas and the hijinks Wes Craven pulled to promote his early films. Eventually our conversation devolved into squirrels and walnuts and I had to give others a chance to talk to him but this guy is just interesting as hell and does not have a facade one for talking to fans. Great guy.

Here he is at Horrorcon Tupelo when he signed my movie poster-

Anyway, Imgur does give you the option of edit when you first upload. But for some reason resize is taking forever now so I did have to resize on my computer first.

He wasn't in the Goonies. He was in Weird Science which is from the 80's. John Matuszak was the guy who played Sloth who looked a lot like Michael Berryman.

So here is the tallest lighthouse in Florida.

You climb these 203 steps to the top. Reminds me of a nautilus cross-section. There is a word for this. Anyone know what it is? This pattern repeated in nature? Anyway...

When you get to the top, hot from the furnace of the interior, you look over the rail and see this painted on the roof of a building below. ICE CREAM. Best damn advertising I've ever seen. They knew. Of course we went. If for no other reason than to bow to the genius of it. This is the inlet between Daytona and New Smyrna beaches BTW.

Also check these lenses out. Mygod can you imagine pouring this much glass into a mold then grinding and polishing it down in the 1800's? Insane. I can't fathom the sand paper. I would charge a million dollars of back then money to do it. I know what it's like to grind glass. And do you have any idea how many stages of polishing it takes for this? No. I would shoot myself. Beautiful though.

I was at the station filling up on the card so I just stick the hose in and go sit under the air in the cab. Shit it's still hot here. And I start thinking about my birthday, not my recent one but my first, and how hot it must have been the summer I was born, how hard it must have been on Mom, the old black and white photos of those days, the song that was number one that summer, took a while to remember what it was... Chubby Checkers "Let's Twist Again", at least I think it was. Don't know why thoughts just start sometimes.

Then the pump kicked off so I went to hang it up and punch the button before the jittery electronics took the option away and I would have to go inside and wait in a long line for the receipt. Please have paper, please have paper, great it has paper, and I tear it off and look at the number. $61.61... holy fuck. Repeated just to rub it in? I was born in 61. I went in anyway and bought a couple of lotto tickets. I mean, if ever I'm going to have any influence over numbers today is the day right?

Also I need to get by and see Mom.

It's called a fibonacci sequence. Some help you folks are. What is the use of having smarty pants friends when you don't help me remember stuff?

My girls made the evening news again! The Baldwin family was well represented. Even Dustin came skating by in the green pullover camo just before they came on. I'm a bit surprised they put Sam on after saying she worried about broken bones. Man I got a good looking family though. And southern? Lord chile that accent was kicking.

Not kin to that birthday girl that first came on.
