    Rage 2 - Post-apocalyptic open-world FPS

Developed by Avalanche under supervision by Id. It's out May 14th. It's a Beth.net launcher exclusive (unsurprisingly), so don't pre-order because they have no refund policy. Don't put any trust in this shit publisher Bethesda.

    No MP of any kind.

If its not on Steam, not interested. Like all my games in one place. Fallout 76 sucked big time which doesn't help.

    The Obsidian game looks better.

I don't know about trashing bethesda too hard.
Almost anything doesn't seem all that bad with EA/activision/ubisoft walking the earth.

But what could it be about everything you can see in the demo reel for this that doesn't look horrendous.
    Other then the graphics.

It looks like a shlocky hollywood knockoff of that terrible fury road movie.
In the mind of a canadien.

Just layers of terrible on top of awful.

ALTHOUGH, there are peopel who like that kind of stuff.
People who like terrible awful stuff.

Cool story, big publishers are teh satan, peopel moar like sheepel. I guess Les Canadiens will probably take that as a compliment? They should, at any rate.

Rage 2? Looks like exactly what it says on the tin: a fun mindless FPS. The only problem I have with it in execution is that it stars a 100% more dudebro S1 Breaking Bad Jesse Pinkman, which is just about the same as taking a cheese grater to my ears.

And FYI, Fury Road was one of the best action movies of modern times, so go get your head examined.

Robthom, you are just one gigantic ray of sunshine.

This looks like it could be fun, just for exploration aspect alone. Far Cry in the desert. But probably not the kind of game I'm buying any more for $60. Definitive sale material though.

I know your trying to compliment me, I appreciate it, but I'm really not.

I don't really care much for going out of my way to trash something,
but I dont care for being dishonest to spare somethings feelings either.

Something about this game really bothers me.
The dialogue and stereotypes offend me.
Its all straight out of a bad movie that a canadien would think is clever.

But it probably MAY be a perfectly serviceable game as far as mechanics and playability.
And what I find offensive about its delivery, a lot of people don't.

    Like canadiens.

Some of the cars were really nice.
The Nux Rod and the Razor Cola are faves.
    The pole cats were interesting...

But a lot of beautiful art design was assembled so badly.
And unnecessarily so IMO, except that George Miller has to be himself.

It kind of reminds me of Return of the Jedi.
There were good parts, but the bad parts ruined it.

I will never get why American's bag Canadian's so much. It's been a running joke in numerous shows (South Park, Sliders etc).

A naked Youtube link could lead to anything.

Is it about Rage 2? Seems that way, because it's in the Rage 2 thread. But hey. It could it be chakats. You never know.

It says "C0wHfAgEjDE", which clearly refers to a half-aged cow named Jade.

...Most people don't go around blind-clicking links, N'Al.

N'Al: people using browsers don't see a video preview, just the video URL. See if you can use the VIDEO BBcode.

Looks like this is getting pretty solidly roasted by players. Mixed on steam, 5.1 user score on metacritic (4.5 for ps4).

Frankly, there's nothing to roast. The marketing sold it as something kinetic and insane, but its first few hours at least are pretty standard post-apo shallowness.

Ignore the marketing and it's very clearly exactly what you'd get if Doom and Mad Max had a mutant baby. There's weighty, solid shooting and powers coupled to a bland open-world landfill. I was surprised at how underwhelming the graphics were; I'd say even Mad Max had better-looking opening environments. I got bored of Mad Max's shallow loops quickly enough, but Rage 2 knows how to reward players with delicious weapon feedback and sound design. Enemies stagger, crumple, splat, fly, and explode in response to the things you get to do to them.

Outside of that, it's pretty much wander around and shoot things ad infinitum while ignoring what little drip-feed of story there is. It's not the gonzo Saints Row 4 in an id setting lovechild like I wanted it to be, and the more's the pity for it. Keep your expectations light, and it's decent.

Apparently the main quests are boring as hell, the desert world is unexciting and the towns make no sense. On the positive end, the side quests are great and exploring for upgrades and new abilities is fun as hell.

I still plan on playing the game and deciding for myself. Please tell me that this one does not suffer from the texture pop in that the first game suffered from massively.
