I can tell you all that I am assisting (a little) one of the "new" authors from the TDP20 contest and, well, his skills have come a very long way since then. I would imagine the same is true of the others as well, so don't be assuming the entries are going to be lackluster just because some of the big names from TDP20 aren't in there. It's true that it is quite likely we may not reach the quantity and quality of the output of the TDP20 contest, but expecting that to be duplicated now or ever may be unrealistic.

I checked the mission lists for Thief: The Dark Project and Thief 2: The Metal Age on Taffers Paradise. The following authors submitted their first release(s) to the TDP20AC in 2018:

Tannar: The Scarlet Cascabel, 1st place (in collaboration with PukeyBrunster)
vfig: Making a Profit, 5th place
Phantom: The Burning Bedlam, 6th place
McTaffer: Heart and Soul, 10th place (in collaboration with StinkyKitty)
    Schlock: Shadow Play, 14th place
Jayrude: Order of the Dew, 17th place
mtk: Madness of Wolfgang Handspiegel, 18th place
mtk: The Lost City of Gazing Glass, 20th place
    Psych0sis: Dewinder Manor, 21th place
Swiz: Mother Redcaps' Last Request, 22nd place
    Marzec: Lord G, 23rd place

In the thread for TMA20AC screenshots and teasers, you made sure to compliment Psych0sis whenever he posted updates. I think it is him you are assisting.

Tell me later if I got it right.

Actually, that would be my fourth mission release if you count collaborations, though in a couple of them I worked primarily on story, texts and graphics.

I am sorry I missed your previous collaborations. I found only one entry on Taffers’ Paradise.

No worries. Yeah, that's because the hosting sites usually only list the first author's name, which in our case is usually Yandros'.

Actually our collaborations on Thief Guild are all listed as multiple authors and you're listed on all of them.
    Waterfront Racket
    Cell 6
    The Drymian Codex

    Voice work

Hey, Andros the Oxen here. I did The Thief voice in eight of the the 23 or so previous contest entries.

I'd be happy to donate some work for any remaining Missions you folks are working on. Check out The Master Thief and Dark Mod Demos on my website at http://www.everybodyandme.com/. I can be reached here or more directly by the email at my website. Usually 2 day turnaround in MP3 or Wav, delivered by email if small enough, and by WeTransfer if bigger.

I need a contact Email, a name or Psudo-name, script, format required, and transfer info. I can do a good aussy, Irish, High Class Twit British, and a variety of other accents... and if you want some known voice emulated, let me know. (Sean Connery, Walter Brennen, anything you like.) I usually deliver 3 sets, with some playing around in phrasing on two.

    Tag me in!

The end of the contest draws near! Now would be a good time to start beta-testing your missions if you haven't already.

Do we have any information about how many (estimated) entries will there be in the contest? Cannot wait to play!

The count should be around 14 or 15.

I've heard one or two contestants express doubt that they'll manage to finish by the deadline, but I have also had the privilege of beta-testing a significant portion of the submissions already. I can say with confidence that we are in for many incredible experiences this month.

That will keep us busy and entertained for a while! Anything above 10 sounds great.

    Hear, hear!
Can't believe how quickly it has all come around and we are a blink away from another jolly Thief feast. All the best to everyone entering for that "final push" to completion - I am very much looking forward to dusting off the blackjack and getting my sneaking shoes on

I installed Thief 2 and then NewDark 1.27 today. In the contest's spirit of using only stock resources, should I keep this minimal setup, or should I add any of the mods that come with T2Fix?

    • Complete Mission and Resource Fix
    • Carry Body Mod
    • T2 Skies
    • T2 Water
    • Thief Enhancement Pack
    • Thief 2 Sound Enhancement Pack

I would expect most authors to be working without any mods installed. Disabling all mods will give you a nice nostalgic aesthetic for playing the missions, and it's most likely to be closest to the authors' intended experiences.

IMO all you need is the Mission and Resource Fix. Definitely avoid the enhancement pack.

I would also recommend against using any mods for these missions. Although it is stock and stock-derived only, depending on how the author used any stock-derived content, the use of EP's may actually mess with those stock-derived assets.

    Yes, even outside the contest.

My base install uses nothing but CoK's Sound Enhancement Pack. Could even that cause problems? I don't think I've ever had a problem playing TG or TMA missions with CoK's sound packs, but if there is a potential for them to cause problems, I'll drop them (at least for contest maps).

I would think those are fine, but I can't speak from experience.

The FMs will be announced after the deadline has passed and they are ready for release, which should be within 12 hours of the deadline which is 11:59pm PDT on Mar 23. (PDT is the U.S. west coast and is UTC-7) Please however do not depend on that estimate being absolute or immutable for any purposes, as there are human beings putting the release together behind the scenes and anything can happen to delay the announcement and release of the entries.

I have been trying to get a sense of status from the authors I know about. If you are in the "Unknown" category below, please contact me by PM. (I actually PM'd most of you yesterday.)
