The fact Brian Mitsoda is back plus CHRIS FUCKING AVELLONE worked on it is all I need to sell me on Bloodlines 2. I'm beyond excited. Cautious optimistic about System Shock 3 and Void Bastards (which Cara Ellison from Bloodlines 2 also worked on) but this is now undoubtedly my most anticipated game.

Now, I'm sure they'll inject topical modern political allegory stuff into it because hey, it's Paradox Interactive and it's trendy to do in games right now. But whatever. I don't care. I just want to return to the World of Darkness. If they follow the original Deus Ex's lead and do politics from every angle where you can't even tell where the game stands and it's your choice what to believe, this will be a brilliant game.

[sinister music] Democratic Candidate Micheal Rebbins recently sued Senator Robert Thorne for accusing Rebbins of being a murderous child pornographer. But Rebbins had previously said he was against clogging up courts with frivolous lawsuits. Wouldn't this make him a hypocrite? Would you want a hypocrite as your next Congressman? Would you want your children to become hypocrites?

[upbeat music] Vote for Republican Senator Robert Thorne! A candidate not accused of being a murderous child pornographer!

More so than the game being made by the guys who actually designed Bloodlines?

I hate to say it but ZB is right. We're probably never going to see an update of VTMB1. Witcher 3 proved you can multiplatform a new title that builds on the platform-exclusive game(s) that came before it and still sell like hotcakes, so they really have no reason to go back to the old game.

The rights would be all over the place. You'd have to make deals with Activision, Paradox. There maybe even be some residual Troika rights being held by a holding company somewhere.

It's fine. The games with the most character are always a little buggy like this and Stalker. I'd worry too much patching might sanitize it too much anyway.

Which game are you referring to, sorry. I take it there's another game being made by Bloodlines devs I'm unaware of (or have forgotten)?

The composer of the awesome soundtrack from the first game, Rik Schaffer, is back for the sequel!

I really loved the music from that game, both the original music and their choice of licensed tracks were spot on.

I never played any Vampire games.

They're based on the tabletop RPG, right? A lot of the goth/metal crew I knew at uni played some sort of LARP version of this. I always found it a bit ott and it put me off the original game when people up in TTLG were talking about it.

While Bloodlines definitely had some of that melodramatic Anne Rice thing going, it also made fun of it: some of its vampires were self-important wannabe aristocrats, others were more into the goth vibe, and yet others were blue-collar vampires, fruitloops and all sorts of other characters. I'm not as much of a fan of Bloodlines as others (I loved the social interactions and choices, but the rest of the game did diminish its appeal for me), but it definitely doesn't just peddle one kind of vampire story and its writing is generally funnier and wittier than some of the more clichéd vampire fare out there.

Bloodlines is Deus Ex with vampires. What more do you need?

I think sometimes ZB forgets he's a time traveler.

What are you talking about? ZB is an advanced AI from the year 2000 (and I mean like oldschool Conan O'Brien's "in the year 2000" 2000).
    I thought everyone knew that.

Subjective Effect, on the other hand, is a stunt double in a Cronenberg '80s movie. So I can see what happened here.

Also Subjeff: FFS pay the Vampire game. The whole point in even posting in a game nostalgia forum is to have nostalgia for the classics, and this is one of our own.

In-engine cutscenes and camera flybys mostly. They seem to have some content ready, but no UI.

Looks great. Gives the vibe of being in a real city.

Have they shown anything that explains why it's Bloodlines 2 instead of VTM: New Subtitle?
