I don't have another computer. If a patch has restrictions to use, then it's a bad patch. Let's then ask some programmer to create a patch for all the players in the world

Read the posts from FigKnight. He also had a complaint about game stuttering
    https://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthre...=149669&page=4

Your logic is wrong. If no one complained except me, then this does not mean that the problem does not exist. Many players are too lazy to search forums with developers and complain about their work. Many players do not respect themselves and are ready to play with bugs and lags. and then forget this game.

Thank you. I know this fix because I have been testing games for many years. He turned out to be useless

generally speaking, if something works for 998 people, and does not for 2, then it isn't wrong to assume the problem will most likely be on the user side in those 2 cases.

Thank you. But after unpacking this patch into a clean original disk version, the game does not want to launch. why?

the game actually needs to be installed, copying the files from the cds and then dropping the new exe and dlls in will not be enough.

//just for fun, get the T2 alpha demo from moddb and see whether it runs better/worse.

If you somehow circumvented this, all sorts of things might go wrong.

I found the game license from GOG and installed the game. Unpacked the files of The New Dark. It did not help. The dgVodoo2 program didn't help either.

I think the problem is incompatibility of The New Dark with some multi-core processors or some video drivers for Windows 7. By the way, The game runs on 4 CPU cores for me. Running the game on a single core also didn't help.

I was right. The patches TFix and T2Fix are not completed. These are beta patches. Need help from a programmer.

no. you would be right if you had 3 different computers, and all would display identical behavior. right now it's

-no matter what game settings you set, your computer still has the issue
-no matter what driver you use, your computer still has the issue
-no matter what system setting you change, your computer still has the issue
-no matter what drive you use, your computer still has the issue
-no matter what data source you use, your computer still has the issue

see that "your computer (refuses to budge no matter what you throw at it)" part? if everything including the kitchen sink is pointing at your computer, then again, maybe, just maybe you could consider the possibility that it actually is your computer. not the rest of the world.

anyway, try this just for fun, see whether it runs better or worse: https://www.moddb.com/mods/thief-ii-...nwelcome-guest

    Confirmed:

The problem of stuttering has also occurred in many users in the past. Just read the Discussions in the Steam and GOG store.
    https://steamcommunity.com/app/21174...lude_deleted=1
    https://www.gog.com/forum/thief_seri...mouse_movement
The reason is in the original file motiondb.bin. Tested by me. Without this file, the problem disappears immediately. The Developer of the new dark did not update this file for some unknown reason. Maybe he couldn't.

If someone can help and update this file. then I ask you to do it.

seven people is not many. but ok, it' not two, it's seven people on the planet. you win.

also no, nobody is going to touch the motion database.

At least one of the threads/posts found via the first link Gadavre posted has a different solution than fumbling around with the motion database - fumbling around with the NVidia drivers was successful in this case. Furthermore, there's another post there saying that someone has stuttering when hitting doors with a blackjack - that does not sound like the same problem as we see here.

I just experienced another possible reason for stuttering in Thief 2 ND v1.27 - I had moved my installation from one ancient IDE hard disk that is at least 15 years old to a more modern SATA disk I bought in 2018. Result: Heavy stuttering; the game froze for about a quarter of a second, and several times in just a minute. Moving the installation back to the ancient drive gave nearly stutter-free standard behaviour once again. Not exactly what one would expect when trying to use a much more recent piece of hardware instead of an old one.

Bottom line: There are enough reasons for why stuttering may occur. Careful and observant testing has to be done to really pinpoint the culprit. And after that, one can try to find someone who will program a fix into the game - which will be almost impossible as most of us won't have the program code for NewDark or even OldDark, and most of us won't be able to contact our mysterious benefactor Le Corbeau ("The Raven") - may the Builder bless him/her! - either, and so the chances of being successful along this path are close to zero, I'm afraid.

Hello everybody, in my Thief 2 FM's the pictures of carryed bodies are missing at all, but the hand with body to the right on screen is present. I've tried to reinstall Thief many times already, it was done from original English version as it should be with the following new T2Fix install, no enhancements besides sound, candles, necessary scripts, T2FMDML and CarryBody. I've also tried different combinations of T2Fix tweaks even without CarryBody, tried the T2Fix without mods, nothing helped. The installation process was equal to all previous, I've never met such thing before. Unconscious bodies in Thief campaign are displaying well.

I've noticed that in Rocksburg missions and Calendra's legacy. If Rocksburg quest was just packed to archive from previous Thief installation and reinstalled with saves, Calendra's Legacy was freshly downloaded. Despite the Shadows of the Metal Age were reinstalled through FMSel in Rocksburg's way, there is no such bug there.
Here is drunken Andrew from first Rocksburg mission:

Now Andrew is carried on shoulder:

The authors of these missions (Calendra's Legacy, Rocksbourg 1) have changed the "Inventory/Render Type" settings of these AIs. Thus, they did this on purpose. It does not appear to be a bug.

Yes, those missions seems to use their own tweaks and content, but I remember that there always were images of carried bodies, I would notice their absence while walkthrough. Maybe some tweaks are conflicting?

I have now checked these two missions with an ancient Thief 2 v1.18 (OldDark) without any mods, and even there I see no carrying icons. Either I'm hallucinating, or your memory isn't accurate.

    Woopsie

My bad, thanks then. Apparently I have paid too much attention to difference of the bodies were carried on the shoulder and beguiled. Thanks again.

So in the Ambush mission, all the guides and internet resources seem to say that it's not possible to switch back to the easter egg arrow after switching off of it, but I was perfectly able to do so with the next/previous weapon keybinds. Is this a t2fix thing or is it native to the game and I'm just the first to find out?
I'm using the steam version of the game and have no other mods but openAL and t2fix (everything except DromEd and Legacy Exe enabled)

I made an interesting discovery today. On the 6th floor of Angelwatch, there is an environmental ambient marker (amb in (1696)). Once you activate it, you have this ambient loop playing throughout the entire tower. Shouldn't markers like this be placed near the actual entrances to Angelwatch (with empty environmental markers on the outside of course)? Why should the player go to a specific window on the 6th floor to have ambience inside the tower?

thats left over from when there were more entrances to angelwatch. in the thief 2 alpha demo, that specific window is open and is one of the ways in, so the ambient still made sense then.

Well it makes sense if the window is open, but it doesn't make sense if it's closed. So yeah, I think it should be cloned and moved to the actual entrances that are in the final version.

Yes, that does look like a leftover from earlier in the mission's development, though it definitely does not make sense with the window now being closed. That said, it does seem like that ambient track was intended to play while inside Angelwatch, along with the incidental thumping auxiliary schema, despite markers not being at all entrances in the alpha and prototype versions of the mission. Actually putting the markers at the entrances and removing those at the now-closed window would probably be a sensible addition to the fixed missions package.

Where can I download the first version of NewDark from developer for Thief Gold and Thief 2? Or are all the old links already dead? I need for the test

Hey guys, I have a surprise question. Is T2Fix compatible with Thief DP and Thief Gold? If it is, why isn't it mentioned in the first post? I'm getting ready to play The Black Parade.

Okay, i've got it. It's not compatible. My god, why i was so blind, TFix 1.27 is right next to this thread
