    The finest of gamedev twitters

You guys on twitter? I don't SEE you there! I'm @Henrik_Hermans and also @SeptemberGames. Follow me and we can be TWITTER PALS.

But enough about me, let's talk about some GOOD gamedev twitters. Here are some of my faves:

@crypticsea - dev behind Sub Rosa, Hockey?, Golf For Workgroups. I'm probably never gonna play Sub Rosa but goddamn the GIFs he keeps posting are amazing.

@BlendoGames - for all your Skin Deep GIF and twitch-dev-stream needs.

@Nothke - Dev behind Derail Valley as well as the upcoming InFinland rally game and desert-dirtbiking game Trails of Tenere and lots of other things.

@glassbottommeg - is making Skatebird. Plenty of great GIFs and overall a great tweeter.

@naam - Is making some VR thing with tapedecks, frogs, and social inspectors. I don't know what it is, but it looks great.

@StudioTatsu - is making fancy vehicle physics. Not sure if there's gonna be an actual GAME attached to these physics, but the work-in-progress videos are great.

@niko_stenberg - also doing vehicle physics things. You like gifs of vehicle physic suspension-systems? Who doesn't, right? Follow this twitter TODAY!

Got any recommendations for others? Post them links!

I do have one of these TWEETY-BIRD things, though I rarely use it and am not even entirely sure how.
I'm @VoicelessName over there because someone stole my usual name and then never used that account!

Only one I follow is @VariatorGame, which is for a SHMUP being made by TF from these forums.

https://twitter.com/DUSKdev - the DUSK dev dude, mostly for his casual shitposting.

I've never really seen the point of Twitter when there's already Facebook. I prefer to have everything all in the one place.

    "I should follow Subset!"
    "Huh, they don't update much..."
    "Wait, I'm already following them."

I do prefer devs that keep updates sparse and focused on their games. That's partly why I made a separate account for SeptemberGames. Not that I tweet much on my regular account, but I'd still rather spare people who just wanna keep up with my games from having to wade through my regular bullshit.

Not sure if this is just my experience, but as I see it: twitter is for creatives, Facebook is for normal people. I mean, it's right there in the language these platforms use, people on twitter have followers, people on FB have friends. I'm not gonna friend someone on FB unless they're someone I actually know IRL or through forums. But on twitter there's, in a way, a much more open atmosphere of following, liking, commenting on, and sharing stuff by people you don't know. This also makes it better for getting your content out there. If I post my stuff on FB, all my friends are gonna see it, but if I post it on twitter and slap on a #screenshotsaturday or #indiedev tag, a lot of strangers, and possibly new fans, are gonna see it.

My experience with twitter was that only a few bots ever looked at my tweets.

As I understand it - and I'm surely the last person who should be trying to explain social media - there's a major difference in paradigms between those platforms.

Twitter is for making public announcements to the world (generally short ones.)
Facebook is for connecting with groups of friends for semi-private, group interaction. That is why people are a lot angrier at Facebook for its dodgy data usage incidents - the information on Facebook is (generally) not supposed to be public.
Sure, Facebook can also do public pages, but it's not what it was designed for.

Does Twitter have all the tribalism that FB has these days?

And FB tends to not do anything about fake profiles of people being created. I think that's completely despicable of them for that. Would not wish that on my worst enemy.

Interesting. About the only thing I do on FB anymore is post in group pages.
    That's where the entertainment is.
Most of my friends, TTLG people generally aside, don't know how to post for online consumption to save their lives.

Edit: I'll admit FB isn't great for a dev diary or updates though.
About the only one I like is virtuaversegame because the screenshots or music it posts are always consistently amazing.
Since I don't spend any time on Twitter, I can't say anything about the comparison.

Here's our twitter @UnboundCreation as well, and my personal @koobazaur for all the delicious shitposting.

TBH, I'm not a fan of Twitter - the short-form tweets don't allow for any meaningful dialogue, and too easily it boils down to a number's game (how many like/retweets do I get). I prefer FB since it actually allows meaningful discussion and has tools for organizing photos/events/groups/etc.

And you can sell stuff on FB. Much of my sales come from there. More than ebay most months.

For a good trash fire:- Vlambeer's Rami Ismail's Twitter. He's all about unionisation and AAA dev working conditions... but he's happy to suck big corporate cock if it means he might be able to pwn those evil, entitled gamers.

How far away is the Nintendo Switch version?

It's good that the vocal outrage has translated into sales for you.

In the creator side of Comicsgate they hook both far leftists and trad-cons to plows and use their lack of understanding of Streisand Effect to sell multiple thousands of dollars of indie comics.

Pretty close I think, hoping to submit the master rom to Nintendo in 1-2 weeks.

How is Rami sucking big corporate cock? Genuinely asking, don't follow him.

Awesome. Could you please try to have price parity between all of the region eShops? Thanks.

He's defended predatory practices like micro-transactions and lootboxes in the past.

For ages I wasn't even sure if he was still making games since he seems to live his life on Twitter.
