Have you guys ever thought of doing an episode on written Thief fanfiction?
(Going from memory)
I love two things about it: I think the gimmick of finding someone that's doing rounds is lovely, as is the combination of ruins taken over by mechanists.
I like when gameplay aspects that are usually on the background are put foward. Most of the time patrols are a simple loop that is used to pinpoint one of the many moving minor dangers points (the guards) that you need to deal with. But with Brother Cavador, the patrol is made visible; you care about where he is, his loop is relevant to you at all points in the mission, instead of only when he's literally in front of you as it is with guards, and it's also literally highlited for you with little green lights. It kinda plays like a reverse Alien Isolation, as if you were the alien and also had the tracker.
Aesthetically, both the aspect of revising a map you already knew but changed, and that being old Precursor ruins taken over by Mechanists, I'm really atracted to. I love the philosophycal reading of the infinite hunger of industry (specially considering the protocapitalist vibes of the Mechanists) taking over even the literal ruins. Pure deleuzian deterritorialization. The virus of Modernity taking over not only the Medieval world of Thief but even their Antiquity. What are the Mechanists if not that.
Too bad the mission itself is a bore. You either knock out everyone as you go, having to hide every single body so that Cavador and his team don't find them while you're trying to get at them, or stay put like fifteen minutes waiting for them to appear, or you get to them quickly by blind luck; the location indicators never really served me. And in any case, dragging the guy is insufferable, either because you have to move at a snail's pace while dodging the guards you didn't knocked out before, or because you did knock them out before so it's boring as hell. A mission full of great ideas and a boring execution. 5/10 for me.
I wish both of these aspects, the highlighting of a gameplay aspect that's usually in the back, and the revisiting a map with changes (with deep aesthetical and philosophycal implications) were more explored in FMs. Can you guys think of any comparisons?

Taffers, please let us know your opinions on "Casing the Joint" & "Masks" - we will discuss them on next saturday in one episode.
Well, the obvious...
Would have rather had an extra mission with a different build than the same mission twice in a row. Only needed one.
Casing and masks are horrifically unfinished, and definately poorly designed in places. However they are far from exceptional in their issues. The biggest issue is that they are back to back.
Honestly, if casing was remade, set just after Ambush with Garrett trying to return to their job after being bothered by the watch, and discovering mid-mission that the collection was not there, or maybe have garretts target be something that isn't the masks at all. (Leading to masks having esculated security, allowing for a harder mission in the same enviroment). That would have allowed the follow up to both be significantly different gameplay wise, and still had some space to breath. Admittedly the coincidence that garrett just happened to rob him already might have been a bit hard to swallow.
As it stands though, what we are left with is one, slightly subpar mansion mission, which you must play twice in a row, with no real variation between the versions. The library is a nice bit of variety in the mission, and the general design does seem to like long corridors, but I don't really mind this. That said, the scale of the mansion does feel a bit silly when thought about for too long.
Had casing/masks been an FM, I would have given it a solid 3/10.
Edit: Side note; The gas traps in the mask rooms are hilarously broken, and I honestly love them.

last chance - if you have any questions to Daniel Thron - here you go
If it's not too late... How do you feel about Garret killing people? Clearly you're a-okay with it since he does in cutscenes since the original IIRC, but what do you think about the slight ludonarrative dissonance regarding what the game usually encourages? "Rule of Cool"?
Thanks for your involvement with the community, you are A Real One.

Goddamn it, I just saw there's a hidden message at the end of Daniel's short film. It flashes "Salt the fries" and now I wanna know what it means. Haven't finished the pod episode yet, hope you asked him about it.
Back at LGS they used to order a bunch of value meals from McDonalds for everyone. The workers would have to box them up and they'd just use the boxes they got from the food plant. On the boxes full of french fries, there was the quote "Salt the Fries".
LGS thought this was funny, so they cut out those quotes and hung them up around the office.
Ehcmier also answered you on our discord: @Kubrick Salt the Fries:
"Back when the LG team was working late-night on SS, one of the employees would go out to McDonalds and order like 15 or 16 Extra Value Meals, or something like that. However, the guys at McDonalds, due to the excess baggage, had to pack all the food into their boxes which they received from the manufacturing plant (Fries, Burgers, etc...). On those boxes, the people at Mickey D's put some quotes on there. On the French Fries boxes, they put the quote 'Salt the Fries.' The dudes at LG thought this was funny, so they cut up all the boxes with 'Salt the Fries' on it and pasted them all over the office. Hence, the 'Salt the Fries' line was born. Remember, it's not Salt the Fries [sans quotation marks], it's 'Salt the Fries.'" ~(A quote from Doug Church at E3)
we didn't ask because we knewand others do too, obviously, so mystery solved Picture of one of the boxes

Thanks everyone! Had never heard of that little bit of lore. I come here more often than I open up Discord so thanks Ehcmier too!
Those podcasts are pretty awesome. I've learned a lot from them and they are pretty entertaining. Keep 'em coming!
Thank you very much, those are basically the goals (at least with guests to learn something) - and to entertain on the go with everytaffers favorite topic
