MOAR News Updates! The Broken Goddess, an upcoming T2 campaign (30 Mar 2021)

Random_Taffer and I are pleased to officially announce a new campaign for Thief 2, and the sequel to Godbreaker:

The Broken Goddess is an upcoming 13-mission campaign for the Dark Engine (Thief 2) which will be the next chapter in the adventures of Conall, the semi-retired master thief. Following the events of Godbreaker, Conall retreats to Bohn, where he was relatively unknown, in the hopes of easing into a comfortable retirement. Eventually, Conall manages to buy a small antiques business dealing in rare books and trinkets, as well as a nice, secure home above it. Rare maps also pass through the store, which Conall gladly adds to his collection. However, eventually, the itch to get out and flex his thieving muscles gets the better of him, and he decides to scratch it by going out on the town to get a better feel for the areas beyond his local neighborhood, with the thought of perhaps even setting his sights on the Bohn Museum at some point for one grand, final heist.

    • Delve into the ruined world of an ancient race long-vanished, and the cult who worships them!
    • Sail the Verilli Ocean and discover wild new locations and creatures!
    • Travel to the Hrabota Strait, and the collossal bridge which spans it!
    • Scour ancient ruins for the pieces of a magical, ancient statue!
    • Explore a frozen ship graveyard and uncover lost treasures!
    • Foil a treacherous plot, and prevent castastrophes untold!

To go ahead and answer it now, no there is no release date; we are still in the early stages of building, and are looking at probably 2-4 years of development. However the story is pretty locked down and we are in the process of filling in details like writing conversations and briefing scripts. We are really excited about it, though, and have a lot of ideas which will push the envelope of the engine. I will post here any time there is a news update posted to the website.

    Great news indeed!

Good luck with the works - hope you'll manage to finish it in a reasonable time. And I also hope that Dromed can handle that view of the city on a 2 km long bridge and both sides of the river. New Dark's 20K polygons limit might be a bit tight budget...

    This is fan-freakin'-tastic!

A 2-4 year wait will definitely be worth it (as long as you folks don't forget to come back up for air every now and then )!

Hey Russ, is this going to be profitable 'cause it's already costing at least a months rent?

    >>an upcoming T2 campaign (7 Oct 2019)
    >2-4 years

    An incredibly misleading title.
It should be something like "We have started working on the sequel to Godbreaker"
    Shame on you!

The date in the title will be adjusted to be the date of the latest news, as is common in such threads.

And the word 'upcoming' in the title isn't the least bit misleading.

How do I get the Godbreaker campaign/mission (to catch up on the events)? Also is it part 1 of the story or is there more?

Thanks. I guess there's not version 2 (as seems to be hinted in the OP)?
