I have installed thief 2x and the new esrgan textures but where are the screenshots saved ? I press f10+alt but can't find screenshots. Or should I use fraps ?
BIG UPDATE
I moved everything to ModDB
https://www.moddb.com/mods/thief-2x-esrgan-texture-pack
v1.1 released, fixed web and ripple textures
------------------------
I finally completed T2X texture pack. Everything done just like previous texture packs. This time it was a bit easier cause this is my third time and all the possible old mistakes were avoided.

Latest Fix

Bonus:
Thief 2X HQ Paintings Pack
HQ images for all the paintings in T2X. All textures are 1024x1024 in size. I didn't wanted to just take art directly from google, so I retained the original gamma/color/saturation, so sometimes paintings are color-ugly. For some reason paintings in the original T2X were in extremely bad quality, even for their low resolution it's ultra bad.

I have installed thief 2x and the new esrgan textures but where are the screenshots saved ? I press f10+alt but can't find screenshots. Or should I use fraps ?
I'm creating screenshots by pressing F12 or Print Screen.
Screenshots are located in game folder in Screenshots folder.
You just unpacked T2X textures in USERMODS and they appeared?
I tried the following -
> created USERMODS inside t2x folder and pasted esrgan files there (did not work)
> then I removed fam, mesh and obj folders from inside t2x folder and replaced them with new esrgan (fam, mesh, obj) folders and while (some) new textures got loaded, a lot of game's textures got messed up (missing doors, lamps, people etc)
I think since bentraxx/gecko made the thief 2x hdmod, he may know how to properly inject new hd textures.
Also, thief 2x was crashing on main menu when I copied t2x folder in FMs folder so I removed it and put it back in thief 2 the metal age folder and the game works now but the esrgan textures are not working.
Ok, I'll create a copy of Thief 2 installation to test
One more thing - In my third attempt, I copied the the 3 esrgan folders to the main t2x folder and there was no overwrite in fam, mesh and obj (maybe game textures and esrgan texture file type is different ?). Now, it's looking much better but some wall textures (like the green brick pattern walls) in mission 1 are still not loading.
Screenshots would be useful in this case
I tried putting the 3 folders inside the FM folder first because that's what makes the most sense. It doesn't replace anything however because every file has a different format, and the FM doesn't have .mtl files. I also put everything inside a folder named Thief2XESRGAN, put that into USERMODS, and modified cam_mod.ini to tell NewDark I want to load the textures as a mod, but the FM completly ignores it.
(This is how my mod_path line is set. I put both Thief ESRGAN packs like any other mod for the sake of tidyness: usermods\Thief2ESRGAN+usermods\candles+usermods\CarryBody+usermods\t2water+usermods\t2skies+usermods \t2snd+T2FMDML)
Okay, I don't get why but you have to add "+usermods\Thief2XESRGAN" to uber_mod_path instead to use the pack without dumping it all into the FM folder. Here's a comparison: https://imgsli.com/OTQ1OA
It does work, Curious Taffer, but the difference is really subtle.
I found a messed up texture early on, though: https://imgsli.com/OTQ1OQ
All cobwebs look pretty silly, in fact.
I'm a little confused. Putting the 't2x' folder in thief2's 'FMs' folder was crashing the game at the main menu for me so I let 't2x' folder sit in the main Thief 2 directory.
Now, as for the esrgan textures, do I put the 'Thief2XESRGAN' folder in thief 2's USERMODS' folder ? and then what and where exactly do I type in the cam_mod.ini file ?
Ok, let's start from something I just noticed reading Akven's instructions. You really don't need to apply manual patches to T2X; this .zip is all you need to play the campaign: http://95.31.27.16/fan-missions/Thief2/T2X/t2x_v11.zip (taken from http://95.31.27.16/fan-missions/Thief2/T2X/). And if it still needs that patch, T2Fix comes with a bundle of FM fixes including T2X which is what the T2FMDML folder contains. It's loaded by default in cam_mod.ini and I assume the proper fixes are applied when you play the pertinent fan mission. Next, you should really use a FM loader to play fan missions. T2Fix already comes with an in-built one called FMSel, but honestly I'd recommend using AngelLoader because it has a modern UI and has more features, which you can find in this Thief forum. The configuration should be easy to follow.
Finally, to use the 'Thief2XESRGAN' folder you have to add '+usermods\Thief2XESRGAN' (without quotation marks) next to 'uber_mod_path' in cam_mod.ini. If you have installed T2Fix with the fixed missions, you should see 'OSM' next to uber_mod_path; what we're doing here is adding another mod with the '+' sign. When you don't want to load the mod to avoid conflicts with other FMs or the original game, just move the Thief2XESRGAN folder or delete that line.
Hey, thanks a lot for that. I'll try this out tomorrow and hopefully it all works out because Thief 2X is easily better than all stealth games released in the past 10 years or so with the exception of maybe the two Styx games.
I managed to install everything.
Instruction:
-install T2
-patch up with latest T2Fix, let it create the T2 Fan Missions shortcut
-install T2x
-move the T2x folder to the FMs folder
-extract T2xfix (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7q...Y2aE13STA/edit) to the T2x folder, overwrite
-install complete Thief 2 ESRGAN Texture pack (Base + TFix addon + EP1 addon + Fix) to USERMODS folder
Two options:
1. Just copy Thief 2X ESRGAN Texture pack to T2x folder
OR
2. Create a folder Thief 2\USERMODS\T2XESRGAN and copy Thief 2X ESRGAN Texture pack into it. Edit cam_mod.ini and change line uber_mod_path OSM to uber_mod_path OSM+USERMODS\T2XESRGAN
-run the Thief 2 FMs shortcut, double click T2x
Second option is better for creating comparison screenshots, since you could just rename USERMODS folder temporary.
https://imgsli.com/OTQ3NA
I'll provide screenshots after some time playing game.
P.S. "a lot of game's textures got messed up (missing doors, lamps, people etc)". Maybe you didn't installed T2xfix, it contains EP.crf which contains a lot of objects.
P.P.S. Screenshots folder is \Thief 2\FMs\t2x\screenshots\

Another quick screenshot. I need to find some light areas to provide better screenshots. Textures are not noticeably improved from far distances, but when you are standing near - it is very visible.
https://imgsli.com/OTQ3NQ
Will fix webs when I find them))
To clarify, those missing doors, lamps etc happened because I had mistakenly removed the Thief2x's original fam, mesh, obj folders instead of adding the new esrgan folders on top of them. That was the reason. Also, I will reinstall everything following akven's guide step-by-step and share the results. Thank you all for the inputs.
Update - I followed Akven's guide and the game along with the esrgan textures are working perfectly now. However, yesterday when I had copied the 3 esrgan folders (fam, mesh, obj) on top of the original t2x folders, some textures like the green brick walls were not loading so the the second method of T2XESRGAN folder in USERMODS is MUCH BETTER. Also, I noticed something which might be a internal game bug, not related to esrgan.
In the first floor of the building we enter to escape the guards, there is a flickering yellow glow in a room (room with big crack where a GHOST appears) BUT there's no light source being displayed.

I'm making mod with HQ paintings for T2X. I found source for 50 of 52 paintings
But there are 2 paintings, which I can't find.
Does anybody knows what is it?
(I inverted second painting so it is more visible)
The first one is some impressionist style bridge. Second one reminds me of Greek culture, maybe something about Icarus
https://imgur.com/a/YUKnefu
Does anybody even reading me?)
Ok, I almost completed HQ Paintings mod
There are 52 paintings in T2X, I made 50. All are 1024x1024 in size, retaining original gamma/saturation etc, not just arts from google.
There are 2 paintings left that I cannot find. So I used this neural network painting site
https://deepart.io/
Which paints your art in selected style
These are the most good looking results:
https://imgsli.com/MTA5MDE
https://imgsli.com/MTA5MDE/2/3
If I additionally will resize them with ESRGAN back to full size and with some photoshop magic - it will do for the pack.

Yes man. I'm reading and following your amazing work !!!! Wish I had the skills to do this. Thief games are still #1 for me on PC along with Half-Life![]()
I fixed web textures, seems ok
https://mega.nz/file/6wFQXI4a#qhlNL4...gwsSunvzIj7pDY
I'm playing T2X right now. And if I wouldn't find any more issues, I will upload complete T2X ESRGAN Package to ModDB
Also, T2X HQ Paintings looks amazing! For example in a second mission (Museum).
P.S. T2X itself is amazing. I'm on third mission, and everything feels like classic Thief adventure. The lore, the cinematics, the story, the design, the graphics. Really good job.
