So I'm sheltering at home, and there's a bunch of tornadoes going on. 2020 really sucks.

Maybe you've already been through this in this thread, some 15 pages ago, but it keeps growing so quickly I can't read all of it.

It's a strange new world. We can't go out, except to hunt for food. Streets are empty. Every street looks like the start of a zombie movie. You're not allowed to touch your loved ones. Several dystopian books and movies spring to mind, but the one that stayed with me the most is something I can't quite remember. Perhaps you can help me. I assume you're familiar with the Rodin sculpture "The Kiss". Somewhere at the back of my mind there's a 1930s sci-fi, dystopian version of that, or maybe 1950s. Maybe Isaac Asimov or people of that era. In my memory, the two lovers of Rodin's sculpture are wearing full-on hazmat suits, they can't quite kiss, but at least embrace except never actually touch each other. Has anyone else seen this picture? In the story (that I can't remember) they're wearing hazmat suits to protect from radiation, but I'm just looking for the image, given that it seems quite appropriate now. We may have the love, we just don't have the touch. Does anybody else remember this picture? My memory is so vague I can't phrase it well enough for a google search, but people with actual working brains might remember it.

    [Edit]

I'm not looking for the robots kissing in the Rodin fashion, I'm looking the the hazmat suits version. The one that, sadly, applies to modern life.

Tricky thing is that the woman I love lives three minutes away in another house. So, for the last three weeks, I'm not allowed to touch her. Not even a hug. It feels very dystopian. Yes, I get it, contain the virus. It just sucks. Emojis can only do so much. And my poetry is even worse.

It would be emotionally MUCH worse if you infect a loved one and he/she dies (not very likely in young people under 30s but very likely in elder people over 70s).

Well, his usefulness as the respectable face has been depleting rapidly, given that the press briefings are just a show put on for Lord Dampnut's supporters in lieu of the rallies and he tends to openly contradict Lord Dampnut by speaking the truth.

Quiet, Bill Maher!...You are a racist just like Drumpf was when he cut off travel from China!...

Cut off some of the travel, you mean. And then sat on his fat arse and did bugger all. And no, golfing and political rallies don't count.

Also, Bill Maher is an idiot if he doesn't understand the difference between naming a virus after some local river and trying to rebrand a virus that is already known by another name for political reasons.

And yes, wouldn't the world be a nicer and safer place if we could force people to stop eating animals, but you just try telling the people in the US, for example, that they can't eat chicken anymore, because it runs the risk of a bird flu spreading.

Which part, not seeing the attempt to rebrand the virus for the political distraction it is or thinking it would be nice if a totalitarian government cracked down on it's people?

Really, it all comes down to Trump trying to make fetch happen. It's coronavirus now. Has been practically since the initial outbreak. Him calling it Wuhan Virus to try and shift more blame to China isn't gonna change that.

Apparently you haven't seen the more recent news, where Fauci stated on live TV that had Trump acted earlier, we would've saved more lives.

Here's the thing. We have all these seemingly competent people, from medical experts, to military generals, to a list of other people at the tops of their professions, they've all served various presidents over the years without issue, but then they meet Trump, work for him, and end up being fired by him for some reason or another. Usually, he ends up disparaging them during a press conference, or on Twitter. They all end up disappointing him in some shape, form, or fashion.

Now the question is, are all these people actually incompetent, and Trump has exposed them for the swamp denizen fuckwits they truly are, or is Trump a dipshit with a fragile ego nursing a tendency to lash out at anyone who dares do anything that doesn't show him in the shiniest of lights?

The hire-fire cycle is easy to explain. You have to understand the endocrinology cycle of a person with a personality disorder. They cycle from idealization, challenge, a series of push-pull cycles, devalue, and finally discard, and if they're really an affront the following flying-monkey-army post-discard proxy devaluation... and at the root of all that is activity in areas like the amygdala, HPA-axis, relevant parts of the frontal lobe, etc., and the usual suspects, cortisol, dopamine, etc.

The whole cycle usually averages a set amount of time, and I can almost bet that if you plot Trump's Tweets on personnel by valuation in the y-axis (valuing, devaluing, discarding, etc.) and time on the x-axis, the relevant nodes and curves are going to plot in clumps along regular curves. I wish someone would actually do that, because if it holds water then it's going to be really clear how clinical the whole thing is. It's nothing to do with the targets and everything to do with Trump's shifting place in any given NPD-supply relationship cycle.

    Narcissistic personality of course.
But speaking more simply.....it's impossible to work whit a MASSIVE jerk.
    For the normal jerks too!
