    TMA20AC Mission — Fierce Competition (Mar 24, 2020)

This thread is for any discussion or questions related to the mission Fierce Competition by Jayrude.
You can download the mission HERE or HERE.
    The contest thread is HERE.

Please give clues instead of outright solutions when helping others and use the spoiler tag when you do this.

Remember that this mission, and by extension every mission made for the contest, is for THIEF 2. As such, do not load it with Thief 1/GOLD! It is highly recommended you do not use the Enhancement Pack and/or HD texture packs to play this mission. It is also recommended you uncheck all optional features T2Fix comes with if you update to the latest version of the full executable.

I can't go through the window above the metal pipe next to the balcony in the beginning - I solved this problem.
    Nice mission.

    Fun FM

I thoroughly enjoyed this - the first of this contest's FMs that I've played. It really captures the original Thief atmosphere. Somehow, though, I missed well over a thousand gold. I need to go on a hunt for it!

EDIT: Up to 2425 gold now - the rest will have to wait until tomorrow. Goodness knows where it could be hiding!

    Great Mission

Amazing mission, smaller one just like Jayrude's previous FM but crafted perfectly with stunning visuals and level design. I just wish there was a small supernatural room or location. Those are one of my favourite locations in supposedly "normal" city/mansion missions

Wow, this mission is perfection as far as city/mansion missions go if you ask me despite its relatively small size, 10/10 and strong contender, although I have only played 2 so far. I love the verticality and architecture, I was constantly looking up to take in the views. I loved the little tragicomic side story that was delivered through short readables. Gameplay, music and atmosphere - just perfect!

This was great - short and very sweet. Some excellent, and very vertical level design and a small but engaging story. Great bite-size chunk of Thiefy goodness!

started the contest with this one, nice mission, regarding the map and architecture it's well designed , nice gameplay, a short experience though.
Since i didn't like the bad weather (clouds) i added a simple sky with starts to give more that thief 1 atmosphere:

Nice mission. Finished it with 2656 gold, way short of the max, will have to go back to this one and get the rest.

Don't suppose you considered that this is a T2 competition did you?

The sky box was the authors design decision so why change it?

    @ Jayrude
I personally liked your mission but I did find all the objectives rather easy to find, if they had been better hidden I would have rated higher but it was still a fun sized map so thank you.

Jim the other sky is also good, but i just preferred a sky with stars, my intention is not to offense the author, but if i did then my apologies and if the author wishes i can remove my comment regarding the sky option.

There are stars there, they are behind the clouds.

Small accurate mission. No mazes, no sinister villains who order the hordes of zombies to destroy all bunnies, no moral dilemmas.
    Just a thief thieving things.

Every moment in this mission I knew where I was. Layout of the facility is simple and logical.
Seriousness of the mission is diluted by few strange jokes which I haven't understood (decapitated prisoner in the cell or a bunch of wooden cheese for example)

What else? Just a good FM.

Possible bug: The safe in the police department is opened with staircase key.

There is nothing more that I can say.

    I like this mission.
There are no zombies or other strange things.
It captures the atmosphere of the old TDP and TMA
    I have two questions:
Where can I find anything that besmirch the family name? Where do I find the rest of devilishly hidden loot? I've found only 2500 loot so far.

I liked that one. It was straight to the point, I appreciate it when there is complexity in the architecture but it's not disorientating. This won't win an award I guess but to be honest in between Buliders Paradise and Feast of Pilgrims those smaller missions are actually a welcome addition and help to keep me sane before the next beast Thanks for this nice entry

Ok, it seems like I've pretty much vacuumed the mansion (well... obviously not but...), I can't find the astronomy research, hints are welcome

They're in the Astronomy Room, the one with the telescope, look around a bit. Usually notes are like those might be in a book?

That's for the other objective :P

Alright, thanks I got it now... Had actually searched that room several times, thinking "where else would astronomy notes be", but yeah... The bookshelf hiding spots often elude me...
Must say, loot is well hidden, I spend a good amount of time searching that last objective, and found a fair bit of out-of-the way loot in the process, yet landed on a measly 2671, way below max.

The first of those is actually a bug which I didn't know how to fix. The second is for a streamer

Sidenote, does anybody know if it's possible to get a username change? I don't use this username anymore.
