thanks Schlock, I had everything already when I posted my frustration...BTW,what about all those Greek words that are spread throughout the readable material ? Is it to make them more exotic or is someone of the 2 builders of Greek origin?
It sounds like you're on the right track, don't worry about going back. Go find your lockpicks (double check your objectives and map to see where) and things will work out. You should overhear a conversation when you leave the mansion, if you haven't already.

A wonderful mission! I have a few questions:
- I was in an underground area just past a will-o'-the-wisp (where you find the old-looking key), when I got stuck, and started reading this thread for an answer. I did find the answer, but I also found another post according to which I have already missed the blackjack, which was in the previous sewers section, in a room that I went through but didn't see it! I cannot go back, as the path has at least one one-way-only obstacle. Will I have a chance to get another blackjack, or somehow go around and get to it later on, or am I screwed?
- In the same area where the apparently-too-well-hidden blackjack was, there were two locks a few rooms away from each other. One could be opened by the mangled key and it helped me progress, but the key didn't fit the other one. Can I go back later to frob it with another key, or is this another thing I've missed for good?
- In the area past the will-o'-the-wisp, there's a heavy grate closing down a part of the ruins, with a purple-clothed guard behind it. Another guard (or maybe the same one from a different angle) can also be seen from the room where Garret mutters to himself about being able to climb out. However, the guard(s) is/are immobile and locked mid-motion. Is this how it's supposed to be, or is it an AI bug, and if the latter, am I screwed?
I finished it, and I absolutely love the weirdness of the underground areas (and some more weirdness elsewhere). I do have a few questions:
- I understand from reading this thread that a conversation (I guess the one you overhear after exitingt he big mansion in the SW?) is supposed to trigger a new objective. Well, it didn't for me. What IS the new obejctive supposed to be? From this thread, I guess it's getting the egg, which I did anyway.
I have a problem here as well, and I'd like to ask for more specific instructions. See, I can weight down the plate, but, unlike Urumo, I do NOT hear any sort of opening sound. Also, I can't find anything new in the old, greenish-walled bastion area. I'm guessing that maybe the lack of sound implies that a script didn't fire and nothing opened? I'd like to check, but I need completely detailed instructions, since if the thing REALLY didn't work, then I'll never confirm it without explicit knowledge of what it's supposed to do.
I think I might have missed Murmeron completely (or maybe I was at the tomb but didn't recognize it as such). Where IS this place?
I have the same problem here, but I don't know how to fix it. What is the "Squirrel script," how do I check if I have it, and how do I get it if I don't?
EDIT: Additional information: so, I do actually have squirrel.osm in the Thief2\FMs\TMA20AC\Into_the_Odd_v1_1\sq_scripts directory, but I still have the problem with the cameras.

I don't have any idea why the conversation failed. However the objective is to steal the egg in addition to a certain amount of loot.
For the green bastion, look up. But I think you already found the secret since you're talking about Murmeron's tomb.
As for the rest, I think it's maybe due to not using the latest update of NewDark. But I'm not sure![]()
If you want even more specific instructions: Stand on the plate until you hear something slide open in the distance. Run quickly to the other tower of the old bastion (the place where you can find a speed potion). Look up and you will see the symbol that matches the pressure plate. There is an opening in it with a red up/down lever, which you'll have to jump at in order to reach. If you wait too long, the cover will slide back and conceal the lever, so you'll have to go back and stand on the pressure plate again to open it. Flipping the lever will open a secret door behind the rug dealer's stall on the street level at the base of the bastion, leading to a secret area.
Okay, so I didn't miss much, as I did that anyway. Thanks!
Well, no (more on this below). I only know about Murmeron's tomb because I've read about it in this thread but couldn't find it in-game, and that's why I was asking where it was.For the green bastion, look up. But I think you already found the secret since you're talking about Murmeron's tomb.
So, just to make sure we're on the same page, are we talking about the thing on the ceiling here?As for the rest, I think it's maybe due to not using the latest update of NewDark. But I'm not sure![]()
If so, then I'd like to report that it doesn't work for me. I step on the pressure plate and run here, it's closed (and there's no sliding sound). If I take a statue fragment from the marketplace and PLACE it on the plate so it remains pressed down, this ceiling decoration is still closed.
I'm guessing this might have to do with having an older version of NewDark and squirrel.osm (though I'm not sure, I don't know what my version was). I've downloaded and installed the newest version (1.27, right?), loaded up my savegame, but the problem persists. IF the problem was the NewDark version, does that mean I have to restart the whole mission, or should the changes take place even when I load a game saved earlier?

Your pic didn't load but that sounds like the right place. Here's a picture of the switch door in the open position for reference: https://i.imgur.com/sSDkoAu.png
The pressure plate doesn't use any squirrel scripts, it's set up using regular old links so NewDark version shouldn't matter at all for this (only the periscopes). To be clear you have to stand on the pressure plate for about 5 seconds for it to activate, but using the statue chunks should have worked. I just went and tested that they do. Frankly I've got no idea why it isn't working.
Thanks everyone who played our FM, here's are the reviews you left for us!

Granted, I should have copypasted the Google Docs link instead of putting all the comments, but now it's done !![]()
Glad you liked it, hopefully the next FM I'm working on shall be even better![]()
Yeah, it's fine now. It would be interesting to play your next one...

Holly crap what a mission! Started out with one feel then completely changes when you get down below and then again once you get equipped. I got lost and was running around in circles trying to remember how to get back out but I guess that can happen over multiple sessions due to the 4 hours 31 minutes it took me. Look was 5391/6593 and Pockets Picked 10/10. Great how this mission evolves as you work through it.
Wow, what a surprisingly large and amazing mission!
I finally finished it on my second run.
Overall difficulty was clearly high, especially for the first part I was forced to ghost and had to hunt keys or door levers. But the outcome was great!
Big plus points were for me (spoilers!)
1. Seemingly time controlled events, like the guardsmen murdering the thieves, the reparation of the pipes, the summoning of demons in the deep dark et cetera. So running in circles again and again wasn´t boring for me. It was amazing and cool!
2. I had no lockpicks in the first 90 minutes of gameplay. But I also had much fun hunting for pickable doors after finding them, found a lot cool surprises
3. It was packed with secrets; I looted a lot - but was still around 1.000 in shortage
4. Many custom objects and enemies: there were glowing pipes; bizarre demons
5. The mind games and riddles: How do I proceed further in this section; creative ways to solve these problems
6. The stunning and diverse , but also surreal architecture
The only thing that really annoyed me was the overall foggy darkness in the underground areas. After a big amount of time trying to orientate in sheer blackness I had enough and maximized my brightness and turned off the fog. I also had some nasty performance issues at the ending (maybe caused by the time events, I assume).
I fully understand - this mission might not everyones favorite cup of tea. But for me, it was brilliant, a full 5/5 star mission![]()
Totally agree with your assessment Thinking Robot. A near perfect mission this, mostly due to its surreal and unpredictable layout.
As for the underground darkness, you are supposed to use flares. That's why a lot of them are provided early on. It's the only time in my Thief history that I've used flares and been happy about it.
