TMA20AC Mission The Pursuance Of An Inscrutable Reciprocity (Mar 24, 2020)

This thread is for any discussion or questions related to the mission The Pursuance Of An Inscrutable Reciprocity by GORT.
You can download the mission HERE or HERE.
    The contest thread is HERE.

Please give clues instead of outright solutions when helping others and use the spoiler tag when you do this.

Remember that this mission, and by extension every mission made for the contest, is for THIEF 2. As such, do not load it with Thief 1/GOLD! It is highly recommended you do not use the Enhancement Pack and/or HD texture packs to play this mission. It is also recommended you uncheck all optional features T2Fix comes with if you update to the latest version of the full executable.

IMPORTANT: This mission has been updated to v1.1 to fix a game-breaking bug. Please delete the original version and install v1.1 before playing.

Unfortunately the first mission is broken on Daring.
If you amass enough loot and get the objective to visit the mansion, the mission ends there and it counts as being skipped.

GORT has already created a fix for this, which is allowed since it is a game-breaking bug. Be sure you download the file named "TMA20AC_TPOAIR_v1_1.zip" for this mission. If you already downloaded the original version, uninstall it and delete it, and install the updated version.

I completed the 2 main objectives, but still can't find a key to this door.

I also went to the southern gate area with the invitation (here I presume?), but the objective won't tick off

The key to this door is right next to the book you must read in the Mages' Rotunda. It's a red key.

So I'm in mission 2, and am a bit stumped by the clock puzzle. I counted 4 sets of numbers on the clock (24-12-12-12), added them together per the note, which gives 390 (1+2+3+4, etc), and flipped the levers into the right positions, but the total (0390) doesn't work. I also tried simply entering 2412 and 1224 to no avail.

On another note, what does this button do?

That's normal. You've just got the easy ending. Don't go up to the northern gate after getting the loot objective. Explore the east side of the city. You might find out something important.

    Bit stuck on mission 1.
I have the loot. Found 1 gem for the braziers - in the sewers. There are 3 doors I cannot pick, but I can't find keys.
Where do I go from here?

Edit: OK, some new people have arrived! But now I can't find the West side store.

It's a purple metal door on the western side of town. It took me a while to find it as well, but it's there in one of the main streets

Thanks Azaran. I think it may be somewhere I have already been. Where is the money box?

There is a door right at the extreme of the west side, that I can't open, as well as the round tower on the way.

Can you provide some orienteer? This level isn't big, but I really cannot find this shop (maybe I already was there, but didn't realize that it was a shop?)

I think the money box is beneath the counter, but don't remember. If the other door is the brown metal one, you'll be able to open it once you have access to the rotunda. First make sure you go looking for 2 objects to place in a certain area. Pay close attention to whatever conversations you hear

Ah. I think that's what I'm missing. I have one gem, from the sewer. Where is the second?

If you go down the rotunda area and keep going, eventually you'll come across an enclosed doorway. At one point you'll find some people there. Eavesdrop on their conversation and the rest will follow.

EDIT: Please tell me you didn't knock out the western shop owner

    Thank You GORT!

I am wandering across the streets now and I still do not know what to do ? Only one thing I have found "Personal chest key" but it's for the chest with loot only

I think I did. I got his key....
Does that mean I can't finish?

Maybe there's another way, but the way I got the gem was (Major spoiler ahead):

You eavesdrop on a conversation he has with another character, then you follow him, he steals the gem from another npc who shows up, and you knock him out and take it from him (you can't pickpocket the gem). I don't know if you can get it now

Thanks for all your help, Azaran.
    Think I'll abandon this one.
